That’s fine till it needs a service, new tyre or fails the MOT and costs 2k for a new window wiper.

None of the arguments in favour of this really stack up. Sounds more like a means to control and extort those websites who don’t want to lose 80% of traffic, and go out of business, by being put on the naughty list.

Big Business will have an angle on this and it’s just another on their wish list that some lobbyist has whispered in the big C’s ear as a great idea.

Its a government project involving the use of IT.

It’s not though, it’s the ISPs that are implementing. Why are they based on just a whim when it will cost them much resource and cause such ongoing headaches. What are the cons threatening them with?

Fairly sure it is illegal to put poison down uncovered. RSPB will be very interested in that, take photos next time, especially if its on your property.

Also, a pet is property, killing it is criminal damage.

+1 for the grumpy dog walkers, and the two walking pole brigade. 🙂

Horse riders though, what about them? Borderline for me first because they are usually youngish girls and I don’t want to appear creepy. Secondly I hate horses, smelly, scarey and make my eyes swell up. I usually wait for them to initiate and begrudgingly respond.

Got a CX bike about 7 or 8 years ago thinking it would be a one bike solution. Immediately hated it and all things drop bar, plus tarmac was dull as ditch. 5 years on got the urge to try road riding again, find I now prefer it.

Reckon it’s an age thing, lower testosterone. Went for a ‘proper’ mtb ride the other day and found myself worrying about how dangerous it was. Am just too soft now? Shorter and intense is preferable for the young, endurance for the older.

Depends where u live though, am lucky enough to have plenty of c roads and moorland nearby.

Thanks to this thread I’ve just done a couple of weeks tobacco free using an eGo-C Twist. Have gone from 14mg bottles down to 6mg. Ordered some 0mg stuff now to dilute the 6mg. Have to admit to getting through the bottles quicker though!

XACD will build you a Ti frame for about £500 delivered. I’ve a road one still on order so can’t comment on quality yet. Fully custom but no warranty at that price.

What’s the group etiquette though?

The established protocol is a tapered response. Hello > Hi > nod > smile > finger > head down. This is proportional to the alpha status and respect they deserve for leading the group.

If you like things that last I would take a look at Thinkpads. My daughter manages to destroy your average Packard /Asus laptop ever 18 months or so. Hinges, keyboard, mousepad fails. So did the wife till she got a thinkpad. Shes one that must be nearly 7 years old and still looks like new. It’s been retired simply because it’s obsolete.

Allegedly the biggest public artwork in the world?

Eventually it will delay your start up. Laptops have some weird code thing on a HD partition that’s lost if you format and re-install. Options are Google and find out how to disable an update, get the checker thing installed or call Microsoft.

Never normally use them on or off road unless its cold. But did a 4 day trip recently and by the end my hands were red raw. Despite riding two or three times a week in the weeks before. So its time in the saddle I reckon.

Good walk that would be interesting enough for a little un from Gunner side along Gunnerside Gill through the woods by the river. If you go far enough you can picnic by the old mine buildings, see the tunnel into the hill side and the old mill waterfalls.

Bolton Castle sometimes has events. The Bowes Museum isn’t far.

No…? Nothing to do with average.

Adolphe Quételet Creates The Body Mass Index (BMI)
Who:Adolphe Quételet
When: 1830
Why: In an attempt to describe the average man
How: Quantifying mean values of measured variables that follow a normal distribution
Where: Brussels, Belgium

His most influential book was Sur l’homme et le développement de ses facultés, ou Essai de Physique Sociale, published in 1835 (In English: A Treatise on Man). In it, Quételet outlines the project of a social physics and describes his concept of the “average man” (l’homme moyen) who is characterized by the mean values of measured variables that follow a normal distribution.

I’m not a fan of Bear,

Hey that’s Cheif Scout, show some respect!

Had my doubts about Ray-Pies-Mears when he first appeared on the scene. But reckon he’s being doing it so long now he’s become more legit just based on his travels. It is weird how his crew all treat him though, feel a bit sorry for him sometimes.

Am even considering of going to one of his ‘An Evening with Ray Mears‘ dates just to see if he is that socially awkward in real life. Strangely I can’t get anyone to agree to go with me.

Next door’s garage joins mine, they had felters(?) to do their side in and then next time it rained mine was like a sive, grr. In fairness it was probably 30 years old.

Anyway, stripped the lot, covered in marine ply then used that Wickes self-adhesive, cold applied stuff. Think it was this stuff + cap sheet. One man job over a long the weekend. That must have been 5 years ago.

Made a bit of a hash of the edging, some skill there. Rest of it was about as complicated as applying copter tape. Cost most for the ply, probably £500ish all in.

Sold an Isla Beinn on ebay for £10 shy of what I paid 3 years earlier. They had gone up £50 in price and I’d upgraded the shifters, new tyres, grips etc. But it was used every school day for two of those years and still looked in good nick.

50% of internet users ‘admit’ to viewing adult content, that’s alot of floating voters in anyone’s book. Can anyone think of a single reason why this shouldn’t be opt out rather than opt in by default?

All I can think is Cameron is stupid’er than I ever imagined to piss off so many people, or he’s up to some gameplay that’s not yet clear.

BMI is the average right? Means you are above or below the mean weight for your height. I look emaciated at ideal BMI, body type should come into it really.

Failing that twist it so it’s at an angle. Or put a 3mm spacer on the BB.

Usually just take to the post office but if it’s bigger than a frame it can be a problem.

Sent a bike and a frame the other day using parcel2go, separate couriers, automatically gives you best price based on dimensions and weight. Pick-up included.

All the changes seem for the better, change in head angle, slightly longer TT, sorting out the heel rub. Even like the ninja look. Think I would have made a taller head tube though.

Nice to see some proper disc only forks, wonder what rake / trail they are with the new 72 deg.

Used to do a lot but stopped about the time the kids reached an age they started playing them. Not sure why but no interest now.

There’s a fight club school of thought they’re a substitution for lack of achievement in real life, and even inhibit it. Obviously these generalisations are only applicable in extremes. But there are a few people I know that game all night, yawn all day a their desks, and seem to have been in a life rut for a few years now.
