One of mine starts next year. Student loan / tax will cover tuition fees, the means tested maintenance will be just under price of accommodation. We will have no choice but to tighten belts to make up the shortfall for living costs.

Don’t look down, seriously. Also got dragged round various GoApes by the kids and it does work to stay focused on head height, no peering.

Although not so much on the ‘parachute’ where you walk the plank to a 60ft freefall until a wire on your back kicks in for the last 10ft. In those circumstances close your eyes.

Our row of terraces has a bus stop / double yellers at one end. I’ve mastered the art of parking millimeters from where they start which leaves just enough spaces for everyone to fit in, all is well.

I carshare or cycle most days (takes a bow), but if I drive then the utopian dream is shattered when I get back with me being left 3/4 of a space my end because of someone further up the line.

Takes days of musical chairs before equilibrium finally returns. How hard can it be to park in the same spot!

Not a plasterer but did something similar couple of weeks ago. Used paper tape on the gaps but the boards were tapered edge. Is supposed to prevent cracking in the future.

Read a short story once about how we worked out we were in an Alien’s simulation but managed to hack onto their system. Then they used a biological 3d printer to create an army and took over the real world.

    Don’t underestimate the humans.

Another Synology fan, like the apps and media streaming out the box, and the regular emails it sends me!

Main reason for a nas is lower power costs and noise. If they aren’t a big deal for you then why not just buy an old dell office PC offa ebay and put a linux server on it? Or a fanless mini ITX, or cheap laptop?

If random decent recent films are allowed I’ll ad to the mix:

My square taper cranks seem to need regular tightening to avoid creaks.

The weather says it’s going to be pouring down all the way, with a 20mph headwind

Same was forecast today. Sunny, slight breeze was the result. Was glad of the shorts regretted the base layer.

Tried some cheapo £3 on-one plastic pedals for the commuter, they actually grip way better than I expected. And they really do glow in the dark!

Something certainly smells fishy, and I don’t mean Mother wicked witch of the west Theresa. Either he’s on a promise and playing the long game or Pob has something even worse than the pig pics in his back pocket.

A bike lock that is unobtrusive i.e. the size of a long pump that fits on lugs under the top-tube.

A box for tools/tube that actually fits under a seat.

Rear lights / pole with flashing indicators?

    Rear camera?

Combination lock hub/skewer for front wheel.

Just woke up from a quick power nap and I had the weirdest dream…

Your dream is about regret, missed opportunities but also fear of acceptance. Be prepared for a strong desire to own a porsche.

Is it worth it? Said on the tellybox the other day people trying to lose weight lost more doing lower intensity exercise for longer. For no reason other than they kept doing it.

Have never enjoyed a run like I enjoy cycling. Has anyone found that they didn’t at first but at some point they preferred it to cycling?

Ian McShane’s let himself go a bit (I didn’t recognise him, to be honest)

The guy’s in his 70s, give him a break.

Toned is just low body fat (covering muscle). It’s supposed to be very difficult to both lose weight and gain muscle at the same time on a calorie controlled diet. Heavy compound lifts are usually recommended. If you want to lose bulk, cut down on the protein and your body will start digesting your muscle too.

Partly genetic, partly training. Peeps with more short term power are probably posting somewhere about how to improve their stamina. Your legs have different types of muscle (genetically proportional). To improve stamina ride longer, for power hit the gym. More intense riding will also engage more of core muscles groups too, again gym strength work required to improve. Having said that someone will be along in a minute to say practice hill riding, although you will never see anyone in the gym doing 50 squat reps.

Sometimes messing about with the height helps. Or accept that you can’t get full range on all rings, but then on the smallest up front you are going to shift up half way thorough most of the time.

Sounds a bit like saying I know some mechanics cos I fitted a derailleur on my bike the other day, but now I need an aeroplane. Cloud based BI like ur describing costs a lot of cash and expertise to build and maintain.

I really rate my pair of Brasher Countrymaster II GTX . Tough but smart enough to polish up and wear to work. They are hard to come by, think they stopped making them. :x

Locked the bike up in town earlier next to a Norco, looked pretty capable and pleasing to the eye.

About 1 1/2lbs off the bike, just the belly to focus on next.
