Cove Stiffee with 140mm fork. Its not new, it’s hard work on the body and uncompromising but I love mine and wouldn’t swap it for any others hardtail. It constantly makes you push harder and I’ve never felt the bike get out of its depth or reach its limits. Its always me that’s the weak link.

You should be able to get one for about £400 if you look around. Having said that if you want something comfy and bendy you can potter around on don’t bother with the Cove, you’ll hate it.

Love my Cove Stiffee but it lives up to its name. Its brutal on the old knees and back.

Don’t understand all these comments about sore arses though. I only sit down on long fire road climbs or road sections. Rest of the time I’m stood up. If you’re sat down on the rough stuff on a HT you’re doing it wrong.

That is also a very good point.

Also don’t forget, no using GPS, devloped and run by the Pentagon.

Cheers for the info simon, got a set of Revs myself I want dropping to 140mm. Might give 18bikes a call. Having said that your bike gives me bad ideas 😉

Sweet bike, really interested to try one of these. Have the Revelations got the tapered steerer? Are you dropping the Revelations travel down to 130mm ish? If so who are you getting to do it? Or are you doing it yourself?

Love my Cove Stiffee, could never bring myself to sell it because of the way it laps up techy single track. Awesome.

Why do you want to change his mind?

I’m fairly new to STW and only came across your thread tonight then proceeded to read it from the start.

You’re truly an inspiration to us all. Not just for you and your body’s ability to kick the big C’s ass but also the humility and honesty you’ve done it with.

    A real hero.

Yep knackered knee. Did the Vatternrundan four weeks ago and tore something in my knee with about 130km to go and had to ride all the way with one decent leg.

Dr’s say it needs rest but really frustrating because it feels ok until i try and pedal then it just gives up again. Meant to be riding the On-One Hundred at Dalby but that ain’t going to happen without a miracle healing. Gutted and so frustrated.

Fair point Jameso – I’d love to work less and live near the Peak District, Lake District or North York Moors and ride every day. Unfortunately that doesn’t pay the bills.

I make my choice and I live with it. I’ve put work before bikes because (shock horror) there are more important things in life than going for a pedal. I know that comment won’t go down well on here.

I live over an hour’s drive from the nearest decent trails, I work long hours in a high stress environment and only get to see my other half at weekends. So no I don’t ride my mountain bike as much as I would like and yes it is my choice to put my career and partner first.

So do you know what I did – went and bought a road bike and never looked back.

Loved the comment about asking what you’re doing with your life. I’m making a career, future and life for myself. What about you Benji? Oh you’re riding your bike. Thats nice.

Just seems Benji has a lot of growing up to do.

Cheers mate, can’t believe RS don’t provide a better manual with their forks.

Arh nice one cheers, do you mean the small gold knob on the top of the fork, is that for the threshold. Does the lock-out pop off then when you hit a bump of a certain size then?

Sorry of these questions sound a bit stupid but couldn’t try it out without doing drop-offs off the kitchen work top and the g/friend tends to get a bit arsey about it 🙂
