Just bought a new bike and got it past the wife by explaining there was nothing I’m missing from my garage once I get my new Stumpjumper.

    1 x 140mm Cove Stiffee ’06
    1 x 100mm fs Stumpy ’03

1 x stupid expensive carbon road bike

    I believe…..

People who work for themselves confuse the work they get paid to do with posting on STW and therefore think they’re busier than they actually are.

Used photobox several times and always been really happy with the results. Definitely use them again.

I see nothing wrong with this, especially as you’ve used the kitchen.

My other half still hasn’t found the dirty grease mark on the sitting room carpet where I dropped a pedal while doing a similar piece of work.

Generally I use the kitchen but wanted to watch the footie while I did it 😀

Another vote for the X-Fusion, had mine about six months now and no problems with it.

No idea bout ‘bushing play’ I just sit on it and it works when I ask it to.

Used to be a motoring journo and now got a masters and a lot of experience in PR and marketing but not sure that makes me an expert.

However I am an expert in the ability to make a decent cuppa and spend lots of money on thing I don’t need.

Other than that I’m pretty much a rank amateur at most things.

In all truth there is a load of old baloney talked about dogs. No you can’t leave them for 8 hours a day, five days a week but our Border Terrorist is left in his cage probably 4 out of 5 days. I leave the house at 8.30, nip back at lunch to let him out for 45mins then get home about 5.20.

He’s three now and had exactly the same pattern since he was seven weeks old and as long as he has two decent walks a day is absolutely fine.

As I said earlier whether he’s in his cage when I’m at work or on the sofa when I’m at home he does the same thing, sleeps.

Not a vegetable but I once got a lump of midget gem stuck up my nose.

Sneezed as I was eating it and it ended up in my nose.

Made my eyes water I’ll tell you that.

Border Terrier gets my vote, ours is super hyper whenever there’s the slightest sign of us leaving the house but will quite happily sleep most of the day with a quick chase round the garden at lunch time.

In fact I’m working from home now and he’s asleep on his mat in the kitchen snoring. As was said above, basically he sleeps all day whether we’re there or not.

He’s also got more personality than is good for him. Only downside is he doesn’t like sitting in pubs, he gets bored.

I’m neither fast nor particularly skillful and like you I don’t get enough time to mountain bike as much as I’d like but to be honest I just loves bikes and riding them.

My take on it is as long as I’m out riding some sort of bike and enjoying it doesn’t matter how fast or good I am . And all bikes are good so just ejoy whatever riding you get the chance to do.

Anyone who doesn’t find this the funniest thread in a long time needs to have a word with themselves.

I’ve literally been giggling away to myself in an open plan office. 10.30am every day for me and I totally agree loud and proud is the way.

Farts are funny, its a fact of life. Even other people’s farts are funny when you’re like me and don’t have a sense of smell.

Now I’m giggling at the thought of my dog who scares himself every time he farts.

    OP delivers – good effort.

Now are you struggling with the lack of a brew due to the poorly placed bike blocking access to the kettle?

Once hit a bloke while driving (at about 15-20mph) through Bayeaux in France because he just stepped out. So I stopped gave him a ‘firm telling off’ and then drove off.

I was up at Stanage / Redmire on Wednesday and apart from a few big puddles and a howling wind the trails were spot on.

I’ve just bought the other half a Spec Stumpjumper Evo, unfortunately its in a size Large and she doesn’t mountain bike so is useless to her but a perfect fit for me. 😀

Oh well, a pack of tea towels again for her I guess.

Seen something like this before that ended with a marching band, way too much effort for me and like someone else said I don’t have that many friends.

I proposed in Yosemite while we were on holiday. Carrying the ring around Vegas and California for a week before I popped the question was nerve wracking to say the least.

Having torn a ligament in my knee and knocked my knee cap all skew whiff I have to say physio was the best thing I did.

They were able to not only bring down any internal swelling and speed up the healing process but also gave me loads of stretches and exercises that strengthened my knee. Its really important though to get one who specialises in sports injuries.

I was a typical bloke and refused to go to the Dr’s / physios for about three – four months. It put me three – four month behind in the healing process and I wish I’d gone straight away.

Oh and ibuprofen helped a lot.

I had double (one on each side) inguinal hernias last year. Had mine done on the NHS and can’t speak highly enough of the staff and results.

I was getting a lot of pain in my groin, couldn’t sit properly, couldn’t stand sometimes. I went in to hospital as a day case and was home and sorted by 3pm.

They did tell me I wouldn’t be able to walk properly for a couple of weeks and and signed me off work for 2 weeks.

I had my op on the Thursday and I was walking around a local show on the Sunday with only mild discomfort. Within a week I was walking and moving fine, just hurt a bit standing up and lifting.

I think one of the major factors is the procedure, I had mine done by keyhole surgery and the results and recovery seem much better than traditional methods. Definitely ask your GP about getting it done by keyhole.

Took me a month until I was going on gentle rides.

Ahem I have no place in this conversation……….

Actually I do only have one bike in the house… the rest are in the garage.

I got a Camelbak Charge LR a few months back, love it and haven’t used my Mule since.

On my average rides with the Mule I just ended up carrying loads of stuff I didn’t need. The Charge carries everything I need but is lighter, easier to use and less noticeable when I’m riding. has a 2L bladder that runs horizontally across the lumbar.

Kept the Mule for longer all day trips though.

    Just to clarify are we talking about a 4 or 5 year-old or a 45 year-old? 😀

If its a 45 year-old not sure he’ll want flames on his helmet (so to speak)

Actually what am I saying everyone should have flames on their lid.

RickyRah beat me to it, don’t most former world champs have the rainbow stripes on their sleeve?

If its good enough for them…….

Having said that Fred Perry stuff really isn’t my style anyway.

I’ve been considering a 1×10 set-up for a while but rode a Demo SB66 at the weekend with 1×10 and just found it totalled under geared. To be fair it was mostly on fire road type ‘trails’ but on anything pointing slightly down hill just ran out of gears.

Love the 1×10 but need to sort a decent spread of gears. Or amybe just sell a kidney and buy an XX1 groupset. 🙂

Think the OP needs to decide what he’s referring to as a classic.

An MX5 can’t be a classic because its still in production but a Golf GTi can? A new MX5 is a totally revised car to the original, the same as a new GTI is nothing like a Mk1.

Original MX5 is a definite classic as are the early Datsun Zs. I agree with the Skyline theme as well.

How about the early Celicas? Definite classic material there.

If an original FireBlade can be a classic so can any of the cars above.

I asked Hope this about a year ago and effectively got a nod and a wink as if it was something they were working on.

Of course how or if it’ll ever see the light of day is another matter.

You’ve got to hire some sort of over the top American car to do the trip in, we had a convertible Camaro to do drive from Vegas to San Fran.

You’ll need to watch Bullitt as well for some SF driving tips 🙂

Lombard streets worth a visit if you’re passing. Its the really steep zig zaggy hill.

Also never been but apparently Berkeley is really nice and only a short journey away.

San Francisco is my all time favourite city.

Go to Le Mar at Pier 1.5 it does awesome Ceviche and the range of alcohol is pretty good too.

If you head over the Golden Gate and up the coast then Santa Rosa is great for wine tasting and less touristy than Nappa.

China town is also pretty cool and the food is well worth going for.

Definitely echo everything about Yosemite, definitely worth the drive.

    Enjoy, it’s an awesome place.

Am I the only person that thinks Mojos are butt ugly?

Sorry that’s all I can contribute to this conversation, I’m still too depressed that I’m not buying one of these bikes or going to Canada to ride it.

Our Border grew up with my mum and dads cat and as such doesn’t really bother about it apart from teasing the cat so it chases him…

Generally ours doesn’t care about other animals but has taken off a couple of times after rabbits.

To be honest though (apart from another BT) I have no intention of having any other furry pets in the house so anything he kills he’s welcome to.

Our Border is coming up to three years old now and is so much fun to have around the house.

Nobby basically took the words out of my mouth, their Patterdale sounds exactly like our Border. Having spent a lot of time with Patterdales and owned a Border they’re very similar dogs. Perhaps the borders are just that little bit more manic, the Patterdales have seemed (ever so slightly) more chilled.

The only issue with Borders is they moult, a lot if you don’t strip them a couple of times a year.

Getting Dylan our Border was one of the best things we’ve ever done, we take him everywhere and wouldn’t be without him now.
