In Mist & drizzle on the road bike yesterday, the P7 on the helmet was a pain, wanted to move it to the bars as glare and reflection directly in your eyes is too much. Also on clear descents the flood doesn’t penetrate far enough for a road bike, but perfick on the MTB.

A Cree X-Re based light such as the fenix tk-11 would definitely be better for that as more focused, less flood. DE does have a cheap one for $19

If I’m not reasonably fit, I can’t ride my heavy bike up hills and I like cleaning technical climbs. Also can’t ride it for 4+hrs at a time without some fitness.

It may not get me fit per se, but I have to stay fit to enjoy it 🙂

Mine is brighter than my 4yr old Lumi HID. Using mid for ups and high for downs, lasts >1.5hrs which is fine for me & I’ve got a spare battery JIC.

Mate has 2 fenix, but they get lost in my beam, even on mid power.

Subscribed to Dirt for 2 years, but gave it up early in ’08. They’re attempts to fill 12 issues and the monthly focus on one aspect throughout winter was lost on me.

STW is a reasonable read when I buy something else, and very rarely I’ll buy MBR, but not for >12mths.

Hora – is it frozen?

Mate had this happen with a King in freezing weather (he hadn’t had it serviced either) and moisture inside caused it to freeze and not engage. Heating it got him home at least and made it last a month or 2 longer.
