Washing up liquid to get it to hold air. Then high pressure to make it seat correctly, you’ll hear it bang as it seats in different areas.

If that doesn’t work, reduce the pressure significantly then try using your hands to lever the tyre back on itself to pull the tyre onto the bead. Rarely have I needed to deflate fully and start again.

Safe to use as long as ODI style clamps, and NOT other brands which use a grub screw that screws directly against the carbon damaging it.

Just asking your IT to read this thread may prove to be ‘educational’ for them!

[edit] then again it may make them feel so stoopid, that they put the boot in! You could really do with an independant techie present as you could make them lose serious face with management

I switched to Post Office last month. No drama’s at all, unlike switching to Virgin previously.

£19.99 p/m for Line Rental, <8mb broadband and free evening & weekend calls.
Recommended by someone else on here.

Was paying BT for line rental £14p/m, Virgin for Broadband £15p/m, +virgin for out of package calls ~£5-8p/m

2nd Horatio – if you want to go fast on tarmac then a darkside 1″ tyre sized for MTB works best.

Most MTB slicks are good for commuting but too heavy for the sort of thing it sounds like you’ll be doing.

I always used a Specialised Turbo S – 100psi in a 25mm tyre weighing <200grammes. Perfick. Needs specific tubes though.

Been running UST rims for 6yrs, mostly with UST tyres. Occasionally with tubes when I’ve pinched the bead, but that was my problem not really the tyres/UST (see below).

Dry UST works very well, if you do get thorns / small nicks, it generally deflates very slowly. I normally realise the next day when the tyre is flat, but in that state it’s easy to pump it back up & go for another ride without fixing it.

Fixing a flat: I’ve only ever used Sticky String (for those who don’t know, this is used without taking the tyre off the rim), and I’ve never had a deflated tyre leave the bead & require re-seating. They only leave the bead when I’m changing the tyre. I didn’t use to use the sticky string on bead pinches, but realised it works fine – Doh!

Times I’ve had a tyre deflate rapidly on the trail is from a good pinch flat leaving cuts 5-7mm long. Sticky String again will fix it in 2-3mins. Even used it in a mates ghetto tubeless with sealant which split & wouldn’t seal. Marvellous invention.

I have just started using sealant in one old HR LUST as it kept deflating due to too many holes & me being lazy & not wanting to pump it up before each ride. Seems to be working 🙄

Had mine since 2004, orig 5th element coil, but now running Totems. All up weighs 38-39lbs.

Great fun & fast downhill obviously. The real surprise is how well it climbs. Not fast uphill, but if you can turn the pedals, it will go up almost anything that I can’t manage on any other bike.
The hard part is pedalling it. When I’m fit, 4-5 hours in the Peak is fine, not fit & it’s horribly hard work.

Trail centres – it goes round them OK, but is just way OTT – I take a shorter travel lighter trail bike for that, as the Yeti looses all momentum too easily with occasional inclines. (e.g. Spooky woods is horrible on it)

All round though, for Sundays and night rides, it’s definitely weapon of choice, unless I’m in a hurry, or want an all day epic.

All that said, 2 mates used to have them and both have switched to specialised (1 enduro, 1 SX trail). Both are v impressed with how fast & planted they are in comparison to the Yeti.

If you try & chop sections for the inner sheath, all you are creating is a variant on Avid Flack Jackets – which are a far less effective take on the Gore full length cable sheath system.

Use the Gore as designed, OR use a cheap full length outer over a standard cable, but to use Gore full length offers no additional benefit.

If you have excess then you could use the additional sheath and outer to do another bike / redo it in a couple of years. Just well lube a standard cable in it.

I know it’s boring darkside, but the road hill up from Froggatt is excellent hill training. DO that 3 times and you’ll really know about it 😈

Tracey – I’ve seen that Kona in the Peak today, were you out to?

An extra vote for a Mountain Rescue team near where you ride / in your favourite hilly spot.

Generally they spend far more time shaking a tin to keep going than they do on the hills

ACPO recommend only prosecuting/fixed pen at 57 in a 50 (10% +2). Does that guidance apply to the average speed cameras?
    Guidance Here

I always set CC to 55 on a 50 average speed and haven’t been fined yet. No idea what the actual speed of my Volvo is compared to indicated. I do know I’m usually moving faster than most other cars though. I’m probably only doing 50

    I’m in 2 minds…

    I don’t send letters.
I don’t want to receive paper bills.
I only want internet orders delivered by RM as they leave a card through the door and the sorting office where I can pick them up is just down the road.
All courier Co’s are miles away.

Mostly, I don’t need RM, but they are handy & local

Fishers would probably say it’s a maintenance failure. You need to strip & clean more frequently as described in the manual. I have Totems and it’s just a fact of life these days to stop scoring of the tubes.

GO to the Dirt website and find the TFT video for Boxxers.
There they describe the 10min strip, seal clean & re-lube process that needs to be followed to ensure your problem doesn’t occur. Video is generic to most current RS forks

Wrap tape around the area you are going to cut. Then mark up & cut through it. Mask is not optional.

Looks like the original bolt sleeve wasn’t quite snug enough in the frame leading to a small bit of movement, combined with ample quantities of the local grinding paste, has trashed it.

    God bless the peak

One final thing – each brand has a particular shape of foot that they fit. So I can get on with certain brands and not others.

And just when you think brand X is the one for you, they will change their shape by the next time you go to buy, so you really have to go to a shop and try each & every one!

If you are really tight, you can try on in the shop, then go to http://www.sportshoes.com, but by the time the shop has been really helpful, you should want to give them money 🙂
