Here Here to sanding it down. Almost guaranteed to corrode in situ once you get it in, but if you never adjust it, what’s the problem. Remember to buy a silver post, cause it’ll look awfully scruffy if you sand down black

Then again, looking at the weather, maybe a lucky escape?

As they ^^^^^^ both said, a combination of practising the switch, known as ‘bricks’ (google ‘Brick training’) and also stretching your legs & matching cadence to running leg speed.

It never gets easy, just less difficult

I always specify RM for internurd purchases as I know I’ll get a card & can pick it up from local sorting office in the morning.

Truly sick of couriers over the years & their depots are always 15+miles away.

Rich, have to admit though, our postie is a miserable g*t (been that way for many years so not a new change). Will often write card rather than knock. I do wonder if he does it to avoid carrying the small parcels.

I have Maxm carbon bars (MX-5) & seatpost on my Titus from 2003 & still going strong. Reasonably light, work, have a wierd criss cross thing to stop total separation in event of a FAIL, but not needed so far. (Bike routinely thrashed & dropped at speed in the peak, so had it’s fair share of abuse.)

Wouldn’t have been first choice but perfectly workable etc for a mid – high quality component.

Possible silly question, what’s the deal with only using branded cartridges in Innovations pumps? are they a different shape?

As Njee says, depends on the rider… but also the bike, and the location.

I have a 34 on my 40lb big bike and can climb the Hagg farm switchbacks without dabbing if someone will open the gate. Can’t do it with a 32 at the back.

Don’t see many others clearing it with whatever gearing is their personal choice.

I have a simple rule with JEJAMES, irrespective of what the website says, as it is wrong most of the time. Go into the shop and if they have it at the right price, buy it. Otherwise go elsewhere. Easy.

If you are not in a hurry, or they don’t have it, GO ELSEWHERE.
Whatever you do, don’t get them to order something!!!! It’ll be like waiting for IWH to pay up 🙄

Roach – I had this problem late last year – immediately after Virgin ‘upgraded’ my line to allow greater speeds. Eventually I got someone sensible on their tech help.

In short the line had been upgraded to ADSL2 & as my Netgear router was a couple of years old, it was unable to cope with the changes for any length of time.

Check your router manuf’s website to firmware updates. I flashed mine & all is well again, including slightly increased speeds.

ps – I’m now on Post Office for Line rental, calls & broadband. v cheap & all good. (Note: http://www.speedtest.net ID my supplier as BT so I think the PO are just the money collectors)

    1. On & off for 20+ yrs, different routes & frequencies

    2. 1 – Hit a Skoda at 20 that pulled out (didn’t see me) headstand over the bonnet & concussion

    3. 3 (just in the last year, would be many more if I go backwards) Car swerved across a roundabout & clipped me. Car pulling out from side turning into standing traffic & didn’t look down the bus lane it was crossing. Car approaching standing traffic waiting to turn right swerved into the curb as it passed me & came to a halt.

My current comute is across Sheffield city centre and back, so I expect & get alot of near misses, thankfully they only clip me a few times a year.

C’mon, anyone not voting for Sheffield doesn’t know what they’re missing 😆

I live on the South side, a 15min ride to the city centre, but only 5mins to Dark Peak trails.

Live round Hunters Bar area & you can be offroad from your doorstep & culture next to the trailhead. Sorted.

Cheesy, during the period the report covered, across the country, there had not been an increase.

…but because the NAO also talked about children in the same story, the media decided not to delve deeper on the cycling front.

I think the rise tends to show the growing contempt & carelessness that motorists have for cyclists.

Just had the same prob with my Bulb rear hub. Rubber mallet was too gentle. Ended up using a 4lb lump hammer.

The worst thing that happened with mine was that the end of the axle being hit started to deform as I didn’t hit it squarely enough. Skewer still goes through OK, but needed to file off one side to make it fit the dropout nicely.

It’s a catch 22 – if you try to protect the dropout end and place something over the top of it resting on the step as the axle widens, then if that deforms, you won’t get the bearings off & on.

You can get still get replacement axles on CRC etc, but if it still works, main axle isn’t bent etc…

I do have a 1996/7 GT STS in the garage (orig version with lugged headtube). Fully built & technically MrsTinmans MTB.

Don’t think I want to give it away though, not yet…

Have a £1500 Cyclescheme voucher in the kitchen. Will annoy the bike shop tomorrow for my little lump of Litespeed darkside loveliness. 😀

My NHS employer set the limit at £1500 🙁

When On-one / PX did Cyclescheme, they offered the service of get a quote up to the limit you can, then when the voucher arrives, negotiate what you actually want & give them the difference. All details were on the website & nothing was underhand.

819 is 19mm internal diameter, 823 is 23mm etc for all Mavic rims.
DHers etc often go for wider rims like the 729 though that’s obviously not tubeless. Mavic only make the 819 & 823 tubeless unless you get a wheelset.

Personally the 823 takes a 2.5 HR very well, but on the 819 it rolls way too much unless it’s pumped excessively hard

I really don’t think you’d like tubeless if you change tyres that much.
When one fails to seal first time, you’ll get really frustrated and stressed. Not what you want before the big race!

No wait, that’s all silly, ’cause it happened ages ago… defo not an emergency.

GP will say wait and see, 6-8wks for ligaments etc, you’ve been getting around fine, and by now if it was broken it would require surgery to re-break & set.

    Good luck 😉

Erm… you can’t wait more than 4 hrs in an A&E – targets etc. So they will X-ray it in <2hrs just in case you need something doing.

Also go early on a weekday morning, that’ll be quietest.

Rusty Spanner – Decathlon is a good shop, but please buy branded ones when you’re there. The rubber is better (stickier) than on the own brand shoes.

I’m mainly pleased that this excellent programme is stimulating debate.

Free at the point of care becomes more unaffordable every year as people expect more and more. At least between this and other programmes we are getting more of an idea as to where the money goes.

sign on the wall said “this NHS trust will not treat violent or abusive patients”

Unfortunately, a lot of the time, it is just what it is… just a sign.
As you saw, the duty of care is incredibly strong, and the consequences of not caring are headlines for the Daily Wail.

Remember – Do check the lecky statement against your actual reading before she leaves. If you’re in credit, don’t mention it. If it’s got an debit balance (unlikely on 90 p/m) get her to pay her half before she goes!

Do you religiously switch things off when not in use?

Water meter is a must. I got one when I split with an ex, went from £30p/m to £2p/m because I used so little. (They had to back date usage from date I requested the meter to installation). Once in, can you use showers at work to cut down on water & lecky usage?

Only thing I think may be missing – for internet, do you have to maintain separate line rental? Internet should be no more than a tenner, but combined with line rental, can be £20. At that point Mobile Broadband for £15 looks very attractive.

Good luck, you should make it without too much discomfort.

Just a thought, if you’re considering 90mins from P’boro to try Thetford (don’t, unless you’re into XC race training), why not take a 25min detour from M1 J29 and try the Dark Peak on your way back?
