    The word is definitely Stihl…

But be careful, read the manual, get gloves and goggles and wear them, get a chain sharepener, and if possible try a few practice goes on some old wood before you attack anything too big

Oh and watch out for fences that a tree has engulfed in it’s time, not nice having it ripped out your hands while you’re busy using it.

But one of the most fun garden toys ever!

A lot of great advice on here, but would suggest that when you write out the full version, you keep it and then strip out what is not important for each individual application you do.

    Basic format

Who you are (Name, NI Number, Address, Tel, Smoker/Non Smoker)

Skill Set – some people (especially IT, prefer you to rate your abilities in each area)

Most recent job (date to – from)
Brief outline of role and responsibilities
Any added value, benefits, budget saved, delivered early

    Next job…

    Etc…

Have a completely separate covering letter, again write out everything you can think you would possibly want to say, and then tidy it up for each application you do, removing anything that is unnecessary for that specific application.

    A few tips….
Don’t put a photo on your CV unless it’s requested
    Don’t try and be humorous
Consider carefully what outside interests you list on you CV – mtb’ing can be considered a dangerous sport (time off for injuries etc)
Double check and if possible get someone to proof read your CV, spelling mistakes are just all too common, and if you want to stand out as being better than the rest you have to make the effort.

Fingers crossed it all goes well, if the worst does happen at least you’ll have time to ride that new bike 😀

I have to agree to nodding along to the whole butter knife, personal knife, jam spoons things…

I hate crumbs of toast or remnants of Jam/Pate/Vegemite left in the butter – but I found a much easier way to deal with it….. I just don’t eat butter any more

    🙂

I have… A few years ago I had my contract terminated (no more work to do) and looked for new work in IT, but the market was still recovering from 9/11. So I ended up taking a job in London which meant close on 2 hours travel each day, and was so mind numbingly dull I thought I would go out my mind, but stuck with it while hunting for another job. Used to have to phone up places like Tesco’s and speak to the people at the tobacco counters and ask them to reboot those advertising screens.

Do you mind if I ask what industry you’re in?

Ok food wise…. You’re probably looking at about £2 a day, then if you’re not going to be at home during the day to walk it you’ll need to consider dog walking services, I believe these cost about £14 an hour (depending on the size and energy level you may have to do two walks a day) , You need to consider having him/her neutered/spayed which costs about £60, then you’ll need your annual jabs, based on cat costs you’re looking at about £35 and then about £20 p.a. You also need to include insurance costs, I believe dogs are about £10 a month. And then you have kennel fees when you go away on holiday, those are about £20 a day (so if you work on a 2 week holiday once a year).

So all in all you’re looking at ….

    £2 x 365 (food each day)
    £14 x 5 x 50 (dog walking Mon- Fri)
    £20 x 14 (two weeks holiday boarding)
    £10 x 12 (Insurance)
    £35 + (£20 x12) (Vacination)

First year just under £5K – obviously if you plan to be at home and walk your own dog it drops the costs significantly.

And don’t forget the doggy bed/kennel and toys….

Even in SA I grew up with Tony Hart, used to spend ages trying to copy his "easy drawings" out the back of my mum’s magazine…

    Very very sad loss… RIP

Have they asked you to rehome the dog?

Using "Decimate" to refer to something being "damaged significantly" or "destroy or kill most of" – it means remove/kill 1 in 10 FFS!!!!

    Sorry bad day today….

Seriously – check you house insurance you may find it will be covered by that, but I think you’re going to have to be prepared to fork out for a new parrot if that’s what they want.

I really believe that as a responsible dog owner it is up to you to offer to replace the bird or at least offer to pay for the cost of replacing the bird. You need to remember that parrots live for years and just as we get attached to our dogs/cats, and would be upset if someone’s dog killed them, they may really be upset over the death of their parrot.

If their son is recommending you don’t see them yet, I would advise you drop them a note explaining how sorry you are about the accident, and that you’d like to discuss how you can make things right. Leave your contact details so they can contact you when they feel ready to.

They seem have to found the most difficult couples for this series, add that to a pregnant Kirsty and it makes for painful viewing.

I’m pretty much the same in real life as I am on here. (Thankfully not too many people on here have actually met me in real life to confirm or deny that either)

    CG – from what I’ve seen and heard – you’re lovely 😀

I’m not sure on pricing, but I found the Giant Rincon (their XS is 14″), surprisingly light for a cheap bike (I think about the £300 mark). Although I’m pretty sure I had to swap the forks out.

One thing that may work for your wife, is to not put any air in the forks, I found that worked very well for me (approx 50kg)

Never been a real fan of beards, just find them really scratchy. But confess I’m not a huge fan of stubble either.

Really feel for you, it’s one of the hardest choices to make. And I know I still wonder if some of the ones I chose to put to sleep really where at the end.

As others have said look at his quality of life, if he’s still able to get about mainly on his own, then just spoil him rotten and let nature take it’s course. If he’s obviously in pain, then it’s time to bite the bullet.

As said above as well, don’t keep it from the family, they’ll be a fantastic source of support.

My thoughts are with you, probably the biggest down side to pets is when it comes to this choice.
