with 3 but think the free roaming is US only, not Canada
phone is unlocked, mostly after data – but not sure how good the cover actually is

Genuine it is then, any better deals than £17.95 on Amazon?

Quick links used to be more useful back in 9 speed days when you could open and shut them by hand, 10+ speed seem to need a tool to reopen them

Well you could buy a lightning to SD card adaptor, £30 from Apple but lots of cheaper copies on eBay.

Cheaper ones tend to work for a while then die as IOS gets updated

Well the camera on a newer phone will be noticeably better, but it sounds link a phone camera is fine for your needs.

When I did mine I had to buy: Bars, grips, v-brake levers and some SLX shifters – I then discovered that Shimano 10 speed road and MTB are incompatible, so bought a Deore derailleur as well

2012 or newer, or whenever they changed to the new thinner design. Fusion drive or SSD makes a big difference to speed, fusion drive is cheaper. Processor speed does not seem to make a big difference – if you really need it you will already know because of the stuff you are doing. Base 8GB memory is fine, third party upgrade is easy on the 27″ but not on the smaller one – this alone makes 27″ the better buy. Retina display is nice to have, but you won’t miss it if you are looking to save money.

8kg on the bike sounds like typical rider weight variation tome. Might be distributed a little differently, but not much
Unless you are planning to market bike specific suspension for a suitable premium?

Manufactures will always give a low figure.

If you have a crash then change it, otherwise mine get binned after 5-6 years because they get too horrible to wear

The Orange will be worth more in 2 years when you want to sell

I have got best results fro helmet mount – if you can avoid branches
bar mount is good, but prone to vibration and noise
but a bag of cheap ones and find which you like then get a good quality one

Should have said the BD J4500 is Blu Ray player as well

Just bought a Samsung BD J4500 from Argos for £36, basic but with good reviews and seems OK. If you want 3D the next model up does this for an extra £20 but personally not fussed by 3D

Depends what you want to be able to do as the more you pay the more features you get and the better quality you can achieve. Money wise I’d suggest a 4 Silver in the current sales at about £220 as this should give you everything you will need and have plenty of capability if your interest grows.
The basic go pro will cost about £100 and meet your current needs, but you might need to sell it on if you get into it and want to take things further. Personally I don’t get the ‘session’ versions as they are only slightly smaller and have way less flexibility.
Gopro copies are worth a look as much cheaper but don’t seem to hold their value as well so possibly don’t save very much in the long run.

Quite taken with the Duramat stuff, 12mm thick and £14/m2. The Halfords form was thick enough, when new, trouble was it compressed and got thinner and bigger

    jkomo – YGM
Scruff – depends on how much you intend using them, cheap is probably OK for occasional use, but likely to have lower weight limit, lack locks, be more noisey…..

It will fit, but you can probably get a whole system for about the same as just the calliper

Not too hard, but ideally needs two small sockets, or one socket and some care with pliers. No washers to fall out and no specific torque settings – its not load bearing – but some lock tite. I can email the 2008 service manual to your profile email, all covered in there

I see your logic, for me enough of the bits needed changing to make it relatively cheap

11 speed would be nice, BUT the cassette will not fit on my 2004 Hope XC hub, so new wheel to add into the equation :-(

Tried that before and it does not work, pull ratio is different :-)

For the bleed I used the stuff supplied by Epic Bleed with their bleed kit.
I’ll look at the cost difference, might be almost as cheap to get the whole system as just the calliper – the bar end is 5 years old anyway

Odd ‘Buy together & save’ option. It includes a set of wheels!

Hard tail, XC use but perhaps more interested in long term future availability.
Looking at a Solaris, but wonder whether the 135 QR rear fitting is a bit dated compared to a Specialized of similar spec

I took the drop bars off my CX bike and fitted MTB bars and controls – much prefer it. [FYI Shimano 10 speed shifters are not compatible MTB/Road]
Now have a very svelte hybrid

Somafunk – bugger, that kills my current plan off.
Just checked[/url] and it looks like I need a different mech to work with that shifter :-(

Anyone want a 10 speed 105 mech, done about 20 miles

Apparently you can cut them down yourself. I went to the local phone fix shop who did it for free, well the price of a FB ‘like’

Brakes are older than I thought, M775 bought in 2011

    timwillows

Brakes are XT, probably 4 years old, so might need to look for adaptors.

That shifter cover costs more than I normally pay for shifters!

Always go for the tunnel, not only is it cheaper but if you arrive late/early they have always been very accommodating and let me on – no promises if you try this at peak times though

That would do it – cheers
