Tried a 5, sorry really didn’t get on with it at all, I have a Trek EX8 at the moment and the only bug bear is the poor? negligible mud clearance, so the Remedy should be great if you don’t have 6″ of Somerset mud around you for most of the year.

No, not at all interested, barely have enough time out on the MTB, no way I’d spend time or money on a road bike.

Nothing against them, just really doesn’t appeal.

In a similar quandry, tried a Cotic Rocket and really liked it.

Still haven’t made a decision though 🙄

Probably been said before on this rather long thread.

Surely this is a battle between UCI and USADA for control of the sport and Lance is just an easy target for an organisation that wants to **** over our sport.

Sad day, but I can understand his decision, USADA are obviously not going to give up until they’ve ruined him anyway and wrested control from UCI.

I use mine all the time. If it’s flat or non tech downhill I’m in it. I can’t understand how a 36 up front can replace 44 with the same block at the back. I hate spinning out and I’m a lower cadence kind of rider anyway.

I couldn’t quite believe at times that in the 21st century we will give a dog more dignity than a person, and the person is capable of understanding and making their own decision.

I think this is the crux of the matter, to die with dignity is surely a right for everyone.
The safeguards obviously need to be massive, 2 or 3 doctors at least to agree that it is “unbearable” to continue to live on.

eBay have successfully resisted attempts to introduce anti-fencing measures, such as a requirement to submit the details of items sold by users with a turnover beyond a certain threshold so they can be checked against theft reports.

Always believed that ebay is the world’s biggest fence, I never buy second hand bike bits from there, because I just don’t trust them.

I’ve had a set of 15omm Sektors, a basic version of the Revs, on the front of my ’08 EX for a year, it descends a bit better, but I’d be inclined to drop the stem a little if you can to help with the fraction more wandering on the climbs.

If you’re seriously considering buying a £6k bike, then changes are you have a £50k Audi sitting in the drive.

If I had it spare, I would love to spend £6k+ on a bike, but no way I would be happy spending £10k on a car. Each to their own, or not 😆

It was a nice distraction for a couple of hours, but didn’t set the world alight in anyway. Some clever bits, some dull bits.

definitely left room for a 4th,spoilers notwithstanding 😆

Loved two out of three of the Alfa’s I’ve had, the only one I had trouble with had been poorly maintained.

Loads of personality, great fun, great looking.

Agree about the roof rails though, it does look even better with.

I seem to be getting more tearful at stupid things… I’ve put it down to the male menopause 😆

No idea what’s happening with the rest of the world, perhaps it’s just that we’re getting less disciplined? emotionally

Last time I went with easy jet it was £32 for the bike. Bike bag cost £30 on ebay, or pack nicely in a box from your LBS.

Can’t help with the car 🙂

Cotic Rocket, first bike I’ve seen in a while that made me want to buy immediately. Have to ride it first though.

Time, I’d like to buy some spare time to ride and to chill out.

Oh dear, I don’t fit in here on STW – I’ve only got mountain bikes and have been using them as nature intended quite a bit of late. I’ll be off then to some road bike forum where they’ve all seen the light and have become fully fledged MTB’ers

I must say it’s more difficult to get out the door, but once you’re out it’s great…mostly, 24/12 was a slog.

Roll on the Indian summer 🙄

Oh, I may have this wrong.. but STW used to list all the events in a Fixtures section, which I don’t think happens any more?

I wouldn’t know which site to look at for events…

+1, it’s not a deciding factor, but I looked all over in January for an events calender and couldn’t find one. So, I know the events that I’ve already done, but nothing new….I need to be able to plan ahead. There’s about 12-15 of us in Team Raven, so if we can find events early we’ll be there.

Cost is an issue, for both competitors and promoters, so it should even out? No?

I was at 24/12 last weekend, the weather did spoil it, but no one can change that. However, way back SITS was held at Trentham Gardens which had proper shower blocks and toilets, it makes such a difference especially if the course is at the same venue, but again it costs.

I vowed not to do another 24hr, I’ve done 8 and enjoyed them, but not last weekend. For similar money I can have a weekend in Wales or Exmoor and changed my plans according to the weather.

I had a Joplin for 18 months, it was fine just needed a lot of servicing.

Went for a Reverb about 8 months ago and I just wipe the shaft (oo..er) after each ride, smoother and more controllable than the Joplin.

I really like the ability to just drop an inch, rather than the all or nothing idea on the GD.

Just listened to it on 6 music and it’s as crap as the rest of their recent rubbish.

I hope our athletes performance is better.

Always difficult to find a way back into society for the disenfranchised, no sane person would want his job.

As has been said good basis of ideas, but implementing them? That’s a whole order of magnitude harder.

A cap on the amount people can earn and still live in a council house

so a hard working family can loose their home to some feckless benefit scroungers. Interesting concept. Not such a good plan.

I agree that there’s loads of choice, I’d go to Machynlleth first, there’s loads of riding both natural, Cadir Idris, and the Climachx trails. On the way back do some of the Brecons, it is IMHO unmissable, down to Brechfa, and if you have time Afan from Glyncorrwg.

MB wales have all the info.

Holey Trailwill sort you camping or a bunkhouse in Mach.

Enjoy, I’m a little jealous, I haven’t managed to get to Wales this year, yet

I changed the lowers on my forks from qr to qr15 and there was a massive difference IMHO, better tracking, less deflection etc, etc.

I certainly wouldn’t go back to standard qr, looking forward to trying a bike with a tapered head tube too.

I run them tubeless on a full sus at about 28-30psi, 14 stone kitted up, great all round tyre.

Asus transformer here. Good, I like that it came with a plug in keyboard, but, and I think for me a tablet of any sort is not as useful as I expected it to be.

Great if you commute on trains and that sort of thing.

I’ve used contis for years, never had a problem. Bit of washing up liquid on the bead and a compressor 😀

You’ll spend a lot more on a chainset once a year and think nothing of it.

£60 every 5-10 years is a bargain… secondhand is just as likely to fail soon, so why bother?

I haven’t seen a battery that you can easily top up in years, not that it’s unheard of, just less popular nowadays.

Anyway, assuming that he used correct fluid, batteries that need topping up are usually on the way out, 600ml is a big top up.

I’d say it was probably time for a change.

Can anyone explain the benefits of a steel am full susser? I actually like the look of them, I just don’t see the point (other than trying to be niche)

Yup, got to say the more I look into it the more interesting it becomes.

My problem is that my Trek probably won’t take a hub gear, due to the ABP pivots needing an axle that will go through the bearings.

I’m reluctant to buy an Alfine and then just drill it out and cut it down, only to find it still won’t work.

However, I am going to look for a secondhand one and have a play.

What! they’ve copied my idea! Talk about nothing new under the sun.

I’ll still have a go at a little experimentation.

timraven

Surely it would be more reliable than a cassette, at least you are making far fewer gear changes and shifting the chain a much smaller distance.

A compromise until I work out how to get a frame mounted gearbox light enough and strong enough to make my millions. 😀

Really enjoyed my Joplin, which just died after 18 months. I’ll be buying another when I can be sure of a reliable one.

It’s not essential until you’ve had one, then you don’t know how you lived without one. 😆

Cost wise it sounds about right, but no real knowledge of paying for repairs. I replaced mine in about an hour.
