Just get on and ask. What’s the worse that can happen?

Life is for living, not procrastinating.

I’ve been riding irregularly for about a year with Carpal Tunnel and other hand problems and feeling decidedly sorry for myself, but my problems are nothing compared to some of you here. Perspective is an interesting thing.

Hope everyone gets much better and out on the bike soon.

Weather and wear is part of racing and such “randomness” adds to the spectical IMO, who wants to watch the same names cruise into the same position each round without any real challenge…

This ^^ and Fayolle’s run was excellent, so don’t take that away from him.

Also, I think the other women are starting to catch up with Rachel, certainly a lot closer at Lourdes than they have been.

Seeing the top riders “mincing” down in the wet made me feel better about my attitude to slimy conditions too 😆

BBC actually mentioned Rachel on the telly, so must be a bigger deal than we think.

I’m going to try fitting the cover with the valve outside, it’ll make the rad snug to the cover but I don’t think that’ll be a problem.

    Cheers all.

It’s not adjustment it’s that they will be within the cover and not the room, so they must shut off early or not at all.

    Maybe I’m over thinking it.

I went from Fox 32’s to the Pikes and the extra stiffness is very noticeable, however I don’t think they are as plush as the Fox.

Not sure that helps as this sort of thing is quite subjective.

How else do you think they are balls deep in wood burners and Audis?

    [quote@Nobeerinthefridge where’d the riding be[/quote]

Cotswolds from your door, Quantocks, Exmoor and Wales not far even round Bath we have some good riding, but house prices would be the issue here.

About Midnight Xmas eve, then back in on 27th. The joys of working in a pub.

I’m starting to be drawn more towards something like a cotic rocket.

I tested the original Rocket because I loved the way it looked, bought it because I loved the way it rode. Haven’t regretted it once and 4 years later I’m looking at the 275 version with lust.

I don’t think a full sussers material is as influential in the ride as it is on a hardtail, it’s a lot more about the suspension design.

@kraken there is a little pedal bob, but not enough to bother me certainly. Try one you’ll love it.

My way of thinking is if your looking at an on coming bramble and thinking this might hurt a bit, your not moving fast enough.

I wear my scratches with pride, it means I’ve actually managed to get out for a ride.

Life and work get in the way, but I try to get out at least once a week, only ride MTB. Carpal tunnel at present too, so it hurts to ride and pains me not to ride.

I’ve given up on Strava it was sapping the fun from riding and that’s why I ride.

FWIW I never thought about a tattoo until 2 years ago, aged 53, when we were talking images in the pub. I had a very strong image appear and thought it would make a great tatt. It now adorns my right calf, clichéd I know, but I like it and everyone else can take a running jump.

Never thought about it until the image came though, I agree with the take your time approach and be sure about the artist.

I have Naproxen for my back, it is good, but it really glues my insides up.

I’ve had no real benefit from the gels either.

    Thanks guys, very helpful.

tinytim, I’ve tried splints and noticed very little difference, I’ve had 2 injections in each wrist, which helped. There still seems to be some deterioration.

FB-ATB, I go to an osteopath, and worked through some of that. Might go back after a nerve test and see if that will pin point the problem.

I’ve had some swelling in my left thumb in the last fortnight too, so I’m off to the GP to get the ball rolling, certainly some more testing anyway.

So, I’m in a similar predicament and wondering at what point do you get the op? is it worth it? I ride FS MTB with fat grips anyway and not in the least likely to give that up, but how long off the bike in the real world?

    Thanks

Another 1 here, but prefer to pay Plasterer and Tiler. Up to my neck in restoring a house now, paid someone to do the stuff I just haven’t the time to do, or we’d live in a building site for years.

Left plenty for me, but the moneys almost gone so I’ll plod along and finish it.

I am zen like ferrals 8) except I generally dismount OTB. 😆

Never quite got the whole “road riding is less faff” thing, surely if you’re putting in some effort you will still need a shower and wash your kit?

They will be screwing the lid down before I give up my MTB, hopefully.

Rebel Yell, Billy Idol more often than not. “she cries more more more”

or Stormbringer, Deep purple “Stormbringer comin’, time to die”

usually going downhill, all I can hear going up is my heart leaping out of my throat, due to lack of fitness, not effort.

Working here, well there’d be a riot if I shut the pub on a bank holiday. Rain forces everyone inside for a beer too, so just a short surf and back to it. 😀

In my ideal world he’d be nailed to a wall have his bits removed with a blunt spoon and then skinned. Streamedlive to put others off following a similar action.

I’ve been feeling quite similar for a while. Lots of silly irritating things blowing up into a big rant or, more often, just boiling internal rage. I blame the poor quality of last year’s life offering, too many things went wrong to go into here.

Hoping to get out on the bike a little more and it actually helps hearing that people in broadly similar circumstances, generaly having a good life, feel the same as me.

I’m up for an Angry Old G*ts ride 😀
