I can only add my best wishes and my admiration for the way you are handling all this.
Incredulous that you can walk that soon after major surgery, let alone cross a road, fantastic IMHO.

Really hope to meet you on the trails when you're ready, I feel sure you will be and sooner than you think.

Just happens sometimes, probably peaked well for Merida that's why it's a peak 🙂

I just keep riding until I feel better again, as long as you're enjoying it keep riding. A knee injury will slow you down, always more than I expect anyway.

If it's any help, I swapped the lowers on my Float 32s too QR15 and the difference is gobsmacking. I nearly put it in to a hedge on a twisty trail because it turned so much quicker.

FWIW I won't be going for any fork without QR15, or a similar system, again

Interesting though how "the powers that be" can misread the situation.

It's all so easy with hindsight!

of course, it's every forthright, upstanding citizens duty to go the pub, at least once in a while.

I've lived and have friends in the lakes, so not a problem.

Rarely drink? I am a publican you know.

Seriously I love a good argument, but I'm a little over tired tonight, running a 50 beer festival this week. Have fun all

Mathematics is constrainted to exact parameters, yes, but it gives us a guideline to the "laws" of the universe, none of which are governed by faith.

Whoa, SoB you must have had more to drink than me! Depth at this time of night?
I really hope you live within reach of Bath, come along we'll have a great night riding, mtb's that is, and arguing.

Not really, things that are real, provable, objectively real, will and always will exist. 2+2 will always equal 4, no matter how much I believe they will equal 5

Anybody that basis their argument on faith or hope and not reliable evidence, ooh! too harsh? tough.

Sorry guys & gals, I'm a big fan of Conti's. Verticals are, IMHO of course, the best front tyre ever. Looking forward to trying the Rubber Queen 2.2 with black Chili Compound. Grrrr 😀

I think, though I maybe wrong, that if I agree to sell something at whatever price then that's the price I think it's worth. Seems I wouldn't agree to that price otherwise?

Maybe that's bit too simple a concept here?

I use it to let people know what beers are on in the pub, we get through a lot of beers 😀 theravenofbath
and to let everybody know when we're out for a ride. teamravenbath
Can't say I follow many people.

Biased myself, but Trek EX8 with a QR15 up front. I'm sure you could get something more niche, but I doubt it will be better as a trail bike.

Sounds like you may have a stiff jockey wheel. I'd start by cleaning the rear mech thoroughly and making sure the jockey wheels turn and are well oiled.

I like both too, I do find I explore more on my own.

Then I can take the small group of regular riding mates, otherwise known as Team Raven, on the best trails with the minimum of navigation faff.

I also find I ride harder on my own at least on trails I know, no stopping, no discussions and few mechanicals

I'm working all weekend, but I'll pass the word round. Quite a few over here in Bath go and play there.

I've had problems for about 20 yrs due to a motorbike accident etc. Been doing Pilates for 7 weeks and it's been a total revelation, hard work but well worth it.

    Give it a go.

Say hello to Sam et al from Team Raven, Bath. We had a great time there year before last.

Make sure you do 'frozen heifer', possibly my fave trail of all time.

    Yes, I'm jealous, have fun

I've been to AQR in the Pyrenees, and Bikevillage in the Alps both highly recommended. Run by enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides.

Yep, love tubeless run them for 4 years, about 3 punctures in that time all ripping the sidewall out. Mostly I am being clumsy 🙂

However, last few months no end of trouble, don't know why, as far as I can see nothing has changed but several punctures including pinch flats!

Still I'll never go back to tubes, more punctures and more rotating weight.

I haven't tried the SLX but I do find that generally XT is lighter and lasts longer, IMHO.

No doubt someone will contradict me, FWIW I will be buying XT quite soon. 🙂

Halogens will be available for a while yet, at least a couple of years. According to my local electrical wholesaler.

LED's in my experience are a dreadful light, but the technology is improving, so I expect by the time halogens are no more they will be acceptable.

Dimmers don't save energy! They just convert more of it to heat instead of light.

Most of our toms have rotted on the vine too! Courgettes have done well, as have the spuds. Slugs are huge, mostly from my pointed cabbage 😯

I've had my Fuel EX8 for over a year, ridden hard mostly in Somerset mud, it's not like it's dried out much this year.

I've had one bearing go, drive side ABP, lbs replaced them it FOC.

    Main pivot is lifetime guaranteed.

Lovely bike, get QR15 fitted and it's the perfect trail/ occasional race bike. IMHO 🙂

I'm down there Friday if anyone's about. I know some of the good stuff, but I'm sure I miss loads as well.

I did mine without needing to bleed, just undo gently at the master cylinders end and cut carefully, very carefully 🙂

No guarantee given or implied 😀

My LBS replaced one FOC. The main pivot bearings have a lifetime warranty I believe.

As it turned out the play was in the drive side ABP, so just a plain bearing did the trick.

No bearings last long in Somerset mud Jamie 😕

Look great, but where did you get the 2.2's?

2.4 won't fit in the rear of my Trek

ohh, and give it a few years, you'll see the light and be back on a hardtail

Sooo predictable on this site, no it's not niche and it's not boutique, it's just a bike, it gets you out turning the pedals and having fun and no I will never go back to a hardtail just like I will never wear a hair shirt or live in a mud hut, well not from choice anyway.

Yes, I just changed the lowers and yes I was gobsmacked at the difference. I almost put it in to a hedge because it turned that much quicker. 😳

Put the Pikes on, you won't regret it.

I've had mine for over a year, it's been ridden hard every week, raced with as much success as I can muster and on holiday to the Pyrenees. I really can't fault it in any major way.

Be cheeky and ask if they'll upgrade the front end to QR15, the only upgrade to make it any better.

    Have fun

It will depend on how many live in the house. If you have less people, say 3 in a 4 bedroom house, then yes definitely. It will also make you think about your water usage.

A friend had one fitted and reduced her water bill by 50%.
