Hope & Anchor at Midford, good food nice beer.

or come to us The Raven[/url]we are central, but like a country pub, no screens, no fruit machines, no loud music. Beer and pies are excellent, though I say so myself 😀

Bits and pieces go wrong, that’s the nature of the sport, but it’s rare that I have much go wrong and almost unheard of for me or my mates to have a ride ending problem.

Obviously, the brown stuff will hit the whirly thing next time I go out now that I’ve said it 😯

Having been bitten a couple of times, I do get scared of dogs and hate it when I come across one off the lead.
Love to be able to just shoot the things, irresponsible owners and irrational dogs.

£3 a pint here for most ales, best value in Bath though I say so myself 😆

+1 for the Desire, don’t expect any smartphone battery to last long.

Once I put an old inner tube round it to keep the muck out and cut a lump out of the saddle for clearance it’s worked brilliantly for me.

Sure it’s not the saddle touching the lever when you’re bouncing on it

Persistent loud noise will, according to the doc I spoke to a few years ago, induce tinnitus.
Daft as it may sound, the advice was “not to listen to it”, it does help, but only a little.

    +1 for earplugs.

Same as Buzz, I just ground a bit of the underside of the saddle away. All works fine now and I don’t think the saddle is any weaker, the plastic is very thick there.

Needs to be solid, with a one hand clamping action(not screw in my opinion)
I like the idea of the light and the tool/ parts tray.

I’m not bothered about bolting it down ‘cos I like to bung it in the car for events, but what about a removable head and a choice of portable or bolt down legs? +1 for an upgrade path.

I’ve a Wrench Force which could be more stable, but is well built and cost about £100 3yrs ago.

Sorry, but I don’t believe it’s a big market either way.

I’m planning 24/12 next year and just wondered, what about the loo? With my bladder it’s going to be a time consuming problem and no I don’t want it running down my leg 🙄

B**ger! Not looking good to get the time off.

Anyone know if there’s a limit to numbers?

    Might get a late reprieve.

Muesli with a banana works for me, then keep eating little and often during the ride.

Your body needs fuel while it’s working, IIRC you only store 90 mins of useful energy no matter how big you are.

    Experiment with what suits you.

+1 for Bath, but can be expensive to buy or rent. cheaper in the villages.

Well, you can get Old Speckled Hen on keg now, co2 filled, pastuerised and filtered, totally different taste and IMHO opinion completely ruined.

The barbarians are in retreat, now, and victory is assured.

No I don’t think they are as the above example proves.

Come to a ‘real’ pub try some ‘real’ ale, we’ll educate your palate 😆

It’s not about them being killing machines, it’s about the sacrifice. Not sure if collectively we’d have the spine to stand up and be counted in a similar situation nowadays. Much more likely to whinge about the invading forces on a forum.

Modern military machines just give me the willies and make me despair that little has been learned in the intervening years. Now it’s the Jews committing war crimes ffs!

Saw a Spitfire and a Lancaster bomber overhead a couple of weeks ago, real goosebump moment.

Something very stirring about that sight, I’m honestly not that old, but I wonder if the younger generation will have the same feelings.

    alistair reynolds revelation space

    is excellent.

However the best and the set I return to, The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant First and Second by Stephen Donaldson.
Because at my lowest ebb these books literally gave me the strength to carry on, to feel that life is important and worth holding onto, no pressure then 😆

My reply 'You need to ask?' 😛

Just off to stretch now, having moved about 30 casks ready for my beer festival on Friday. The things I do for beer 🙄

I had great success on mine with Conti Vertical on the front and Maxxis ADvantage on the rear, but now running Rubber Queens both ends and lovin' them, but they are pricey and I do run tubeless.

My mate is running Advantage front and rear, after the Bontys and getting on well.

I live above the pub, some days I really look forward to getting home and downing a tasty 'energy' beer 😆 and somedays I don't.

I like beer and riding, not at the same time and I don't drink before a ride, 'cos I already think I'm indestructible and a couple of beers would just be trouble 😈

If you don't try it you'll kick yourself and it is only two years.

So much easier to live with regretting what you've done than regretting what you haven't done, if you get my meaning.

    Have fun

Simon, didn't mean it as a dig, I think that facing your fear, or pushing what you can do, however it manifests is great. It's the progress that matters not where you start from.

Not the easiest, but IMHO the best wheel, well components anyway 😯
and it's the rim that features in the wheelpro book.

The way my brain is functioning at the moment this could be a challenge 😆
