Yeah they are the same from Mk10-14. What about the main frame bearings? Did you do those too?

My firesticks still have all their leaves. All the local wild ones are bald. We got them because we thought they would look good out the front of the house in the winter, but so far they just look like they did all summer

As Ed says above, if you can find a seat to bolt to the board at the back it would take the stress off the frame and the cantilever bracket. My 7yo still gets on the Ute once or twice a week, but the youngest at 4 is too small, I dont trust her yet to hold on. I have bars springing off the off my seat post for them to hold onto, foot pegs and a pad, but it is getting a bit cramped as the foot pegs are too high

I had a rebranded one of those that was fine until it exploded into about 500 pieces on the last downhill bit of a morning ride. No warning, just a couple of pedal strokes at the bottom of a steep downhill and a horrible crunchy noise followed by the ping of springs unravelling and things going into the spokes.
Currently using a rigid DMR one that pushes up, just like the sort you can’t use. Its great though

I nearly ended up with some King hub’ed wheels for about £150 a few weeks ago as they were 26″

I am still on small wheels and possibly looking for some rims. Hadn’t seen your real advert though, I’ll go have a look…

Eastbourne and back is about 50odd miles isn’t it? Think I could probably squeeze all that in before my curfew of 12:30?

When I got mine it was set up with Lyriks, DH tyres and the 160mm plates, and some 140mm plates in the box. It was so smooth it took a lot of the fun out of our local woods and was pretty heavy too. As Hamish said, a bit “soggy”

Now running Fox 34s at 150mm, 140 plates, got the shock serviced, lighter wheels and tyres, and it is great in the woods and I was never wishing for more travel at Afan. Not sure I’ll ever go back and put the 160mm plates on (but I do wonder what it would feel like!)

I put one on a new bike before I really rode it so difficult to compare and say how big a difference it makes, but where I do notice it is getting off my fixed bike and onto anything else. When I go fixed to a round ring, I really notice the dead spot at the bottom of my pedal stroke (about 5 o’clock) which on the fixie, your momentum drags you through. When I jump on my HT with oval rings, the dead spot is much less noticeable.

Personally I am becoming more of a fan, but more for XC and I don’t think I will bother on my FS

Well I overtook DrP, so pretty happy with that (yes, OK he was standing still in his pits, but still…)

Despite being fitter on a bike than ever, couldn’t quite break 40mins for a lap, but was about 5mins a lap faster than last year. Also only got cramp during the prize giving, not in the middle of the night as I had been expecting, which was a small blessing.

    Can barely move today though

n0b0dy0ftheg0at – yup very happy with it. Still on the original bars which will be changed bearing in mind the size and intensity of your crash!

It did the SSEUCX champs in Brighton, and now is my daily commuter, running fixed.

Front wheel was binned, changed the awful looking original Spec forks for some lovely Kinesis carbon ones, new bar tape, new shorter stem, a pink perch with a lighter seatpost. I got the Marathons on, but feared ever having to take them off out in the wild so they lasted a month, so on some Conti slicks. Going to get some vinyl stickers to cover some of the paint damage and the loud graphics.

Would not expect to get much more than I paid if I sold it today (not a stealth advert as it is my geared Tricross that I need to sell. Its a 56cm)

Hope do a campag freehub. Got one as got myself into a Campag shaped hole with a cheap eBay purchase. The Hope freehub meant I could take my old CX wheels and put them on with just a freehub swap and the old Shimano one is pretty cut up anyway

I get sore just behind the outside of my knees from extended down hill riding. Never done anything in my life that works out that muscle, to the point I had no idea there was even a muscle there!!

If you can get to Tower Bridge you can pick up the Super Highway there and then turn up the canal which takes you straight to the park. The canal path is gravel but fine on a road bike.

I commuted it a few times, its totally flat and 5 miles from Tower Bridge

Did it for the first time on Saturday with some mates up until Washington Hill then solo. Nearly quit at Southease. I knew it was coming, I should have stopped at the cafe but knew I was cutting it fine to get to Eastbourne before dark. Reached the point I couldn’t push more than 10m or do 2 turns of the pedals without stopping.

Got 1 flat out on the trails and a slow puncture that has gone down since so be prepared for multiple flats. It was cold to start, but HOT later, then freezing sat waiting for my train. I had all my food and water on the bike and a rucksack with spare clothes, suntan lotion etc. so the lighter but bulky stuff.

Bike wise I managed it on 26″ wheeled Soul with just 9 gears (retro I know!!)

Good luck to all doing it!!

I have done some of the road bit with DrP et al and it is a reasonable speed (about 26km/hr) but tucked in at the back it wasnt so bad. There was no expectation to take a turn on the front. The solo ride home was a lot harderer!!

I will see if I can make some of the road bit again

Well I went over the bars at the weekend, in the name of science and all that. Tube was strong enough but the paint chipped. Good thought on changing the headset cup though

So looks like I probably need a full set of bearings as it has all gone a bit loose and rattly. What bearings do I need as the Syntace site only has the needle bearings and shock bolts.

    Thanks
