to be fair me and th emissus have a lot of time on our hands but my list of shame is long:
the gilmour girls is awesome….
buffy the vampire slayer,
and angel,
Bones
loved absolutely loved Firefly and serenity, I understand this is the pinnacle of geekdom?
we really will watch any old tat
timdraytonFree MemberThank god I have an off button on my telly and dont have to buy newspapers then….
When Diana died the constant media coverage really irritated me, but this was mainly due to the disgusting disproportionate coverage of Mother Theresa’s death which ocurred at almost the same time.
At the time my 30 year old sister bought the big colour photo book, and went and followed the cavalcade when Diana died, she never mentioned her before, to me this was insane, mass hysteria.
But I think people like to be told what to think by the media, what to talk about with their peers, how to feel about things, and enjoy the feeling of community they get from shared “grief” wether it is based on real feeling or not.
Either way its a bit harsh to slate Jade the individual, she made a career out of nothing, and I dont think she has cheapened anyones experience of Cancer, they are probably too busy worrying about their own disease to be insulted….
I dont understand the Sun reading mentality, so I dont read it.
timdraytonFree Memberbtw, if you want to email me about antibiotics and chest bugs my emails laura.pell1@ntlworld.com the missus is a brittle asthmatic with associated bronchiecstasis so she grows some wierd bugs…..
timdraytonFree MemberMy missus had a similar situation, we only sorted it by changing her GP and surgery.
Make a written complaint to your current surgery and ring the PCT and request an immediate change of surgery.
We can now ring up get perscriptions (30+ items) within a day.
In the mean time you could get the Hospital to print you off the envelopes and give you the sputum bottles and run them down to the Microbiology dept in your hospital, yourself, they normally have a drop in office.
When my missus contracted Cdiff after her last long stay in northampton general, I made sure that I had the main microbiology guys direct line, and I would run the samples down, and chase the results, and query the correct antibiotic treatment with the microbiolgy lot, myself….
timdraytonFree Memberjust changed them today, gone from 2.3 panaracer fire xc pros to 2.1 racing ralphs.
unbelievable difference, bike is a pound lighter, they roll incredibly fast, and still grip really well for a skinny tyre.
timdraytonFree MemberI have the f100 rlcs, they are lovely, worked perfectly, really adjustable.
Also havent had them very long….
timdraytonFree Memberi am driving, the missus struggles with mobility, but we can fit a wheel chair in either.
the boot is bigger on the c30 and its lighter, quicker, better looking….
decision made then, pending it driving ok
cheers all
timdraytonFree Membermy mum is an otherwise intelligent person.
But until the mid 90s she was a member of the flat earth society, and even now is not entirely convinced.
She is adamant in her belief that the bible is absolute literal truth.
Dinosaurs – “test of our faith”
Darwinism – “wrong! wheres the missing link then eh?”
God allowing natural disasters, Hitler etc – See response to dinosaurs
FFS it drives me mad, you just cant win an argument with someone like that.
Roll on my mothers day visit….
timdraytonFree Membersmurf, they are the 2.35s but they actually come up as 2.1 on the rims I am running which are the same rim width to my crossrides….. hope that helps!
dont find them too draggy but it feels a bit wierd tight cornering at speed, but this is a price i am happy to pay for the comfyness
timdraytonFree MemberHoratioHufnagel, yep 2 wheelsets each with their own cassette and chain.
timdraytonFree Memberyoungj1 – fair point, but then i wouldnt keep up with most roadies, on a roadbike. Its fast enough for a hour ride out into the countryside, I managed to average about 14 mph on a 12 mile ride today, but i need to lose some weight, and gain some fitness!
thomthumb – they are some ergon grip/barends, I roughed over the annodising on the barends, then dipped them in some very strong gloss paint. 3 weeks and 2 coats later, the finish is very good, and doesnt rub off.
timdraytonFree Memberfairplay, and i dont understand the naysayers.
I dared to sticker up a mint airborne ht with van nic decals (same frame and company as used to be Airborne, they even still up hold the airborne warranty), oh the vitriol! Its a fake, etc etc
I did like druids custom decals too
timdraytonFree Memberi had some 07 sids (which were a bit flexi) but the remote poplock business was brilliant, really usefull.
would love one on my foxs…
not sure if conversion from remote is necessary? its only a rotating top cap which a brake cable attaches to and then ratchets round when the cable tightens, bet you could do it with your fingers…..
I could be wrong
timdraytonFree MemberI worked for a small Leasing brokerage about 10 years ago, I was the new boy in sales, and I brought in a new customer, a Printing guy who kept bringing in £25K printer deals with 5 massive london based charities.
This went on for 3 months, £250K later the first repayments started for the charities and on the same day I get 5 calls, 1 from each of the charities advising that he had ripped each of them off, no printing equipment.
He was nowhere to be found.
As we were the Brokerage, the banks in question held us liable, and i had to sit my boss down and tell him that he had to find the £250K to pay the banks back.
He called the banks with me sat there, confirmed everything, then just looked at me sadly and then was quietly sick into his little waste paper basket.
timdraytonFree Memberhow is irchy these days, i always found it a bit stop starty, any flowy loops through there been built recently?
timdraytonFree Memberapologies, assumed everyone was watching a replay of dancing on ice from last week which included that duffy advert….
it ocurred that a good dousing with spittle might be acceptable in certain circumstances:
Imagine the scene,
You have been forced to watch the Duffy advert with her riding around on a fixie, your in laws present and at their most annoying, Duffies squawking on like Nora Batty with a nerve disorder…..
Then on the drive home, out of the blue, she appears next to your car, and the windows open, on her fixie……
timdraytonFree Memberwas it duffy?
“its gotta be meeeeeeeee”
hawk and spittttttttttttt
there and two sides to every story
timdraytonFree MemberI’ve got a deore front mech (30.9 top pull, should be able to find some spacers too) thats lost the double bolt little adjuster plastic bit but is otherwise as new.
4 ish no name wirebead tyres loads of tread,
a 130mm stem and faceplate (missing two bolts),
any of my tat any use?
timdraytonFree MemberStraight to the point here
“they don’t have a social security system there that gives money away to anyone that wants it. Thats why they all live here”
oh go learn some history.
Perhaps you could point out a War that wasnt motivated by greed for power and influence?
So whilst I accept that being a Soldier must be horrible, nobody forced you.
Bearing arms against another human being has never been something I can understand or justify, perhaps you can change my mind with informed debate?
Two wrongs do not make a right
timdraytonFree Memberhad one of those crayfish for a while, our fish (tropical) started to get stressed then die and we couldnt understand it, as the crayfish stayed in his cave all the time.
then i got up in the middle of the night and saw him out terrorising all the fish (silver dollars and cichlids), he would go up beneath them sleeping and start nipping them!
timdraytonFree Memberloddrik – nah the cat would win, the snake is so docile even live feed mice would nibble it….
Had a boa (before the now mrsdrayton moved in) that would have made short work of the cat. tbh it got a bit willful one day and nearly made short work of me…
timdraytonFree Membergiant anthems also come up pretty small, and are light.
another small person here *waves*
mine was a small, and i am 5,5, they go down another size to a 14″ i think?
timdraytonFree Memberyep i need to fit in a wheelchair, but its amazing how small it goes.
I remember 3 years ago they had mx5s on the list.
it would have been nice for me, but i cant think there are many mobility impaired people for whom a 2 seater soft top would be usefull!
timdraytonFree Membertheflatboy – i do like the look of your new focus, much better than the one i was looking at a year or so ago. nice colour too!
alphas start at £4K deposit, so not for me!
i’d love to know what the motability prices are going to be like in the next couple of months, whilst dealers seem to be desperate to shift normal sale motors, the motability prices seem to be about to go up 🙁
timdraytonFree Memberyeah motabilities awesome, we would be screwed, car wise, without it!
the choice appears to be between the above, as the best of what is available at a decentish spec (air con, alloys, 1.4-1.6), for between about £12k and £15K cash cost.
with motability they take a % of the missus’s DLA and the amount you put down up front, determines the class of car you can get. I have between £250 (fiesta 1.4 titanium) to £699 (volvo c30)….
would get the 3 door astra sxi (£650) if it wasnt so plasticy and lo spec, and the bog standard golf if it wasnt so ridiculously expensive (£900 for no spec ouch!)
got a 307 sport last time….. not a great car but comfy
dissapointed to hear the toyota’s a bit poo, looks good on paper for £450…
Fiat Grande Punto anyone?
the focus new model looks much better and cheap too!!!!! i hadnt even looked at it cos last years was a bit mingin
timdraytonFree Memberthe zone and ritzy!,
or dare i say it what about Reflections in kettering??? ah the thursday nights spent in the “ladies night” of ketterings finest….
timdraytonFree Memberyup keep meaning to get out with the treads lot, let me know when the next meeting is up delapre?

timdraytonFree Memberahhhhhh bridge street, do you younguns still chew your gums at legends?
them were the days, 5 oclock and staggering back past morrisons….
get yerself in the black bottom club lad, theres some 40 something in there to put you off women for life…..
timdraytonFree Memberlooked at an assortment of different mattresses, then opted for a memory foam mattress topper, (basically a couple of inches of memory foam to go on top of your existing mattress).
this was because i was told you dont need the extra 3″, and it cost £1000 less, the 2″ matress toppers are about £50 in nettos at the mo (for a king size)
i have a £100 2″ matress topper from slumberland and it does the job, its identical to the nettos versionnfor £50…. gutted
timdraytonFree Memberwandered into my local bike shop to get some tubes about 2 months ago, got talking about forks, they pulled some brand spanking 2008 fox f100 rlcs in white, still in the packaging, price tag on said £509, i got em for £350, theyd ordered them in special for a build (they are a rockshox dealer) and he cancelled…..
I was happy
timdraytonFree Memberwell i have had to reduce my bike collection to one bike and its a ti hardtail that’ll take v brakes.
my hope mono mini brakes have been less than faultless, and whenever i need to adjust them or bleed them or whatever I start off with the best of intentions (i have all the right tools too) but i just cant get it right so i end taking the whole thing to the lbs, which pisses me off tbh.
i dont need disc brakes, v’s will do, its just going to be a real upheaval going back to them.
i guess i’ll hold out for nice kit, and do it over time as the bargains come up…..
timdraytonFree Memberfennerhorne
often thought this would be a blinding idea for a small business/hobby, BUT the other way around.
ie busy rich middle aged person has highend bike that they want to sell, but cant be arsed to split it. so either they sell it complete and lose out or pass it on to a trusted mechanically minded person to split for them and to sell the bits, enough profit there for both parties me thinks!
But the insurance issue, and chance for the logistical side of things going wrong has always put me off…..
