oh ok, i dont think we really disagree basically andrew, i like people and dont go out of my way to be harmfull to small animals or my fellow man.
my terminology might be off, but my point was basically this:
I have quite a culturally diverse family.
There are very different ways of viewing the world used by different groups within my family, which is a direct result of their life experiences, which is also a result of their race and the predjudice/tolerance they have experienced.
it would be awesome if we could live in a perfect world devoid of all racial or cultural influence, but until we do, it is best to at least accept that these cultural and racial differences (caused by historical experience) exist to be able to communicate effectively with the people that have experienced them.
timdraytonFree MemberAndrew, what are you talking about?
races of human beings are different in appearance, behaviour and physiology, this apparent to anyone with eyes, ears and the ability to read is it not?
again i say that this is not a negative comment, or one meant to alienate anyone, but the deliberate ignorance of this fact is a sure way to begin alienating people?

timdraytonFree Memberhmmmm dr alice!
but anyway
So, um, racial differences are real are they? That puts you squarely in the BNP camp
it does make me chortle when the privaleged, white, and middleaged, rear up wide eyed and winnying, tapping their keyboards with their high horse hooves, in protest of even the thought that races are in anyway different to each other.
People are different, this is obvious, it doesnt have to be negative does it?
stating the obvious doesnt make you hitler does it?
timdraytonFree Memberthis is true chaps, i would trust a set of ti rigid forks (but cant afford them) i was wondering about the reliability of the carbon forks tho, and if drops (albeit tiny) were in the intended use parameters of the rc31’s….
timdraytonFree Memberwhatever you decide, i wouldn’t go down the path of carrying an offensive weapon. if you really want something like that you’ll find deodorant equally effective i expect, and a hell of a lot easier to explain away.
may i suggest asdas own (light blue bottle) be carefull not to get any on the ground or surrounding greenery otherwise nothing will grow for millenia.
timdraytonFree Memberpigface – you watched the mentalist too then? i thought i was the only one 😉
timdraytonFree Memberplumzrichard – yep, hmmmm their food is great, i cant afford to shop there these days tbh, but the local honey sorts the missus’s hayfever.
timdraytonFree MemberI thought xacd made van nics (and previously airbornes frames?)
Im sure I saw a thread to this affect a couple of years ago where Porter from xacd claimed this to be the case?
Surely approaching xacd or hi light direct would be cheaper???
but either way £599 is still cheap as chips if that is polished.
its only about £150 different if you go to xacd direct, and a bit of a grey area about importation /warranty too.
timdraytonFree Memberbrant, aledgedly it was dropped directly down the manhole, by mistake when some oil was being tipped down it…… nice
really wouldnt advise doing the drain rods thing, my landlord had a go, worth the money to get someone else to do it imho, it is everyone elses poo
timdraytonFree Memberwe had this problem a couple of years ago
our man hole was in our back garden, a guy up the street had put an air filter (and lots of oil) down his sewer and it backed up to us.
sweetcorn and pink toilet papermache…..*shudder
we had all sorts of problems as anglian water didnt want responsibility as they claimed the council were responsible for all properties built after 1930, the council didnt want to know as it was now privately owned.
Luckily the lady up the road who was a council tenant called them out and they did the work with a massive pump/generator business….
In short, if the blocked bit is your responsibility you could be looking at a big bill for some blokes and a pumpy thing.
timdraytonFree MemberThe nearest pub to my house has england flags plastered over it 24/7 and is a really intimidating place of an evening.
There’s nothing wrong with patriotism, it’s discrimination and abuse that’s the problem.
agreed coffeeking
timdraytonFree MemberI have two “members” on my road.
The nearest pub to my house has england flags plastered over it 24/7 and is a really intimidating place of an evening.
The local shop over the road from the pub is owned by a sikh family.
Their youngest lads about 17 and he was wearing a top with what i assume had sanscrit writing on it, there was two pissed morons in there shouting at him to take his al qaeda stuff off, getting quite abusive, it very nearly kicked off quite badly, and this was on a non football night, mid week….
Havent voted for years but I will be voting this time around.
timdraytonFree Membergo in smartly dressed.
dont get angry
take both forks and all proof of the work, receipts etc, have all the details of the work, ie who did it and when, times, who you spk to, clear in your mind.
spk only to the manager/owner, have the DT contact details for returns/ ie steerer replacement with you and give it to the manager.
TELL him you want both steerers replaced within a month and give them deadlines, blag you have a holiday coming up.
be prepared for a sharp intake of breath, and manouvering, but you would be amazed what a confident manner can accomplish
timdraytonFree Memberhow big is the business?
is it a chain or a small business?
How much business do you give them?
Did you not get a receipt slip when you left them, with an outline of the work to be done?
tbh if they are a largish shop I would imagine they should replace both forks if you are inistant and your headtube stem combo doesnt allow for adjustment.
They could easily write this expense off as an error by one of the staff for which they would be covered by insurance….
it would have been better if you had noticed immediately tho!
timdraytonFree Memberhangs head
asda £2.88 merlot has a lot to answer for, i’ll get my coat
timdraytonFree Memberi loved every minute of it!
good sign that i immediately wanted to watch it again.
timdraytonFree Memberi got a second hand airbourne lancaster (zion) frame with lifetime warranty.
It had tatty decals, so i stripped it refinished it with scotchbrite, and reapplied some van nic decals, it came up as new.
didnt skimp on parts, the whole thing only cost about £1100, which is the same as most frames, ….
best bike i have ever built/ridden
timdraytonFree Memberthey are both equally inept customer servicewise and their equipment is/was equally inferior to BT or Virgin imho….
Charles Dunstone was a complete idiot also.
timdraytonFree Membernot really sweating more, its wierd it doesnt happen when i use a cross trainer, on which i can go nuts, properly dripping,
but an easish ride, with little short burst of excercise, ie nipping up a sharp hill and the tiny little vessels around my iris’s go pink. So i may be overstating the “my blood vessels are bleeding” bit….
timdraytonFree Memberanyone got accurate fuel ecconomy stats for either the astra 1.6 sports hatch or the leon 1.6?
timdraytonFree Memberanother vote for scott tenorman must die
i was reduced to a gibbering mess with laughter as Cartman licked the tears off scotts face at the end
timdraytonFree Memberi’m on it but i have to borrow me dads mike…..
will do me best over the weekend
timdraytonFree Memberguitars mainly accoustic though have dabbled with leccies.. 6 and 12 string. Also trumpet cornet and flugel horn although not for awhile
timdraytonFree MemberI belive i have discovered a hidden subtext to the story
Re read the story with the oompa loompa song in your head.
her surname is Salt
She is dressed all in blue and shaped like a blue berry
She needs to go the juicing room!
* off to see what other Sun storys fit, and then to write a documentary called the Dahl Code
timdraytonFree MemberI read the chronicles of thomas covenant when i was about 12 and for some reason this poem from it made me blubber (must have been all the hormones)
nice tolkieny type fantasy series this, but not particularly high brow.
I second the mission (albeit a film) a lot to do with ennio morricone and a stunning performance by de niro me thinks
anyway the poem from the chronicles of thomas covenant…..
“My heart has rooms that sigh with dust
And ashes in the hearth.
They must be cleaned and blown away
By daylight’s breath.
But I cannot essay the task,
For even dust to me is dear;
For dust and ashes still recall,
My love was here“I know not how to say Farewell,
When Farewell is the word
That stays alone for me to say
Or will be heard.
But I cannot speak out that word
Or ever let my loved one go
How can I bear it that these rooms
Are empty so?“I sit among the dust and hope
That dust will cover me.
I stir the ashes in the hearth,
Though cold they be.
I cannot bear to close the door,
To seal my loneliness away
While dust and ashes yet remain
Of my love’s day.”timdraytonFree Memberher album is on constantly round our gaff at the mo.
the people behind her seem to be really clever, the production on the album is genius.
The album is early madonnaesque pop, and it is the best example of a pop album i have heard for years.
evidently she is classically trained pianist who writes all her own songs…
I think she will do quite well as long as they can reinvent her every few years…
she does come across a bit cained/stupid in interviews tho, maybe this is put on? she sounded a bit cleverer on jo whiley.
timdraytonFree Memberpitsford cycles in northampton!
top blokes all, understanding and helpfull in doing my low margin bike fettling tasks.
they’ve got some lovely carbon road bikes in at the moment too.
I try and buy kit from them when i can, but I am pretty anal about getting the best price for expensive kit online, searched about for ages for some forks, then when i was in there to get some pads they whipped out some 08 fox f100 rlcs in white, brand spanking full warranty etc, rrp price tag of £509 still on em, mine for £350.
timdraytonFree Membermy sisters hamster got out of its ball in the kitchen and got into the back of an old washing machine while it was on.
the result was a paté like splattering on the tiled wall behind the washing machine.
and an upset sister.
timdraytonFree Memberdo a search in ebay. on the left about halfway down the page, there is an option to amend the results brought back by your search to Completed Items Only.
this is a very good way to value anything, deduct 10% on bike bits and its a fairish price
timdraytonFree Memberuse sub forks are great, just make sure you get the right spring weight, and bear in mind they are only 100mm travel, although they feel more like 120mm…
you are looking at between £250 and £350 2nd hand tho, and you need the specific lefty type hub front wheel.
timdraytonFree Memberam i right in thinking you only have to declare profit on rental income?
ie whatevers left over after mortgage and other expenses?
if not my landlords got it wrong!!
