Worth noting the E9x 335i switch engines at some point, one is a single turbo, one is a twin.

My local bmw Indi said he had a lot of turbo issues with both 335’s & I know first hand the painful cost of replacing a bmw (Mitsubishi) turbo.

If on a budget & looking at older cars I’d be looking at a 330I personally

Bit late to the topic with my experience thoughts! I’m lucky enough to have daily access to a F20 120d Sport Manual & a F30 320d M Sport Auto.

As 2 litre diesels go its a pretty spot on engine, a good economy / performance mix with a relatively linear power delivery for a diesel.

M sport wins hands down in the looks department, I prefer the 8 speed auto with this engine but the manual is still good.

I find the 3 series far better for motorway journeys due to its size but the 1 series far more fun to drive, the F30 is a bit of a barge to drive compared to the older E90.

I think you will enjoy the car, for me its more fun to drive than recent drives in Audi’s / VW’s / Fords. Nice colour as well!

    Bedtime for me

My point was Iraq being important when choosing now, only a fool would believe they went all in it together.

North Merseyside (Bootle Ward I believe) here & everyone will be voting labour that I know, Obviously Conservative supporters are few & far between here anyway.

I often have to remind myself a lot of my grumbles are actually with society & not a political party…

Funny some of the issues people consider important though, the immigration red herring, Iraq War, really? international perseption of the party leader, based on the madness of newspaper propaganda blah blah…

Old people freezing to Death, Kids below the Poverty line, Housing, Education, Health care, jobs, these matter most to me for the good of the country, none actually effect me currently, but they are the everyday real world issues that shouldn’t even be up for discussion in my eyes!

    Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetrics.

Another strong recommendation, better that the equivalent Michelin, bridgestone & continentals I’ve had on my cars

As soon as BMW started to play around with it they lost the plot.

FIAT got it right with the 500 and haven’t messed with it, the seasonal colours etc just appeal to the types who buy the things. The 500+ etc are just horrible though!

Pretty sure the sales figures suggest BMW got it right, how they look is obviously a subjective matter.

Bit of a contradictory comment about Fiat thought.

I recently sold my 2006 320d M Sport. I really did love the car, I’m a BMW fan after all, but it did give me a few expensive problems, main one was the Turbo blew at 57k which isn’t good in anyones book. I also switched to non RFT’s, I got about 20k from rears, 40K+ from fronts.

Ive actually replaced it with a new F30 320d M Sport auto which is great but I think I prefer the E90 on a whole, My one regret, not getting a 330i E90…

Annie Mac is taking over. I like her, but I cant help thinking she’s a place holder

I think a lot of people think this as well, the show will still have the same producers as Zane’s show sourcing music, programming etc.

Im guessing your over 30 though? which may go some way to explaining why you didn’t like a fair share of the content. ;)

R1 are on a mission to drive down the age of their listeners, The music & show programming reflect this, its something that comes from the BBC commission, R1 needs to have a defined place in the market, thats place is the under 30’s market competing with Capital & KISS amongst others.

Over 30’s are theoretically catered for by R2, 6Music etc.

I have a F30 (saloon) 320d M-Sport Auto, Sister has a F20 (Hatchback) 120d Sport Manual, Both very nice cars.

Its really your call what fits your needs with regards to body shape & which you prefer the look of, Id imagine they all drive well, noticeably different to older BMW’s though. Personally i prefer the look of the saloon & having no kids or dogs have no need for the estate.

Having had an E90 (Previous model 3 series) the obvious improvements for me are the latest 2.0 Diesel engine, approx 180bhp & loads of torques, linked with the 8 speed auto box, its absolutely brilliant. I would recommend that engine / box combo for your needs!

I guess if you went for a 1 series you could save yourself a few grand

Im also a BMW man / fan but I would go the Passat at this price point.

fwiw i has a 320d with the 163 engine & the turbo went after 57k…

The norm is for it to stay illuminated for approx 16 minutes I believe & then go out. its something to do with the cars electronics / sensors etc still be active before a shutdown. nothing to worry about.

no idea why it goes out straight away sometimes, maybe after short trips?

Ms njee20’s Mini Clubman does that – very disconcerting! We’ll be replacing them with ‘normal’ tyres once the runflats have worn, they give a very harsh ride. Not convinced at all.

I’ve already been through the change on an E90, dont expect drastic differences.

Run Flats are designed to be scrapped after being driven with Zero pressure anyway, just a get you home alternative.

Personally Id stick to normal tyres if i were you.

No typo or mistake I can see in there, what were you referring to?

£2500 is probably the cost of all 3 together surely?

I was quoted £700-900 for a Clutch & Flywheel on a BMW 320d All in. Less for a Honda Civic…

Myself & 2 colleagues have these, 60 plate 1.5d ntec models, all have had new clutches around 105k, £2500 a time as they all needed flywheels,

Surely this is typo or you are mistaken?

I’ve considered leasing my personal car on a couple of occassions but alway found the maths of owning made more sense as I’m prepared to buy a car 2-3 years old & maintain it & also keep it for 4-5 years.

I owned my last BMW 320d M Sport for 64 Months, Its depreciated £190 per month & cost me a total of £240 per month to run excluding fuel & insurance obviously. I couldnt find the same car for 12-14k mileage allowance on lease anywhere near that price.

I watched it, pretty lame by all accounts, great scenery though.
