Having to utilise ‘walking’ on 3 ocassions already but sticking at it, walks i wouldn’t have otherwise done.

    This rain isn’t helping either!

i run one up & renthal bars and would echo everything said above, both great but the one up are very good and would be what id recommend.

    also nice and subtle styling.

I find the jockey wheels clog up with crap much easier on my XPLR mech over my GX & XO mechs if that’s of any use to you.

id suggest a transfer from the airport.

Pollenca is a nice small & quiet place, very local, Alcudia & Port de Pollenca are more tourist resorts but a lil further from the most popular routes.

    I’m 6’2, long arms & legs, I’ve previously had a XL mk1 Solaris, a L mk2 solaris & a XL Soda Max.

Without going round the houses id get a C4 solaris and run approx 50mm stem with a 120mm fork if buying the current model.

Want to clarify the carbon topstone (v2) has a recommended tyre clearance of 45mm which im running with loads of space.

topstone is good for covering ground quick.

    fairlight secan does appeal also

ti orro i saw in merlin last week was very nice.

The loop Street Pigeon did is half a day max, which might be good for tired legs, many on here will tell you extended routes of the back / over the top of GDP.

Ullock Pike is always worth a go, especially if you haven’t done it.

I had an alloy 105 from 2019-2023, used it on & off road, i upgraded to a carbon (v2) late last year and its a marked improvement, as it should be for a lot more £.

Ive the black apex axs version mentioned above, ive put road bars back on as i don’t like the flared bars for my riding and made one upgrade which transforms the bike, a set of ZIPP 303S wheels with pirelli cintirato M 700×45 tyres, a top set of wheels elevates the bike to another level imo.

I have two bikes that sit in this area, both XL & both mentioned above, they are…

    Transition sentinel v2, 160 front, 150 rear, full 29er, currently Fox 36 & Float x2 with Exo+ Maxxis, etc

Nukeproof Mega v4 297, 170 front, 165 rear, MX wheels, currently Fox 38 & Fast coil with DD Maxxis etc

On paper they read very similar, but in reality they a quite different, the Transition is lighter, pedals better, carries speed better across flatter terrain, has a livelier, poppier feel, but also has a slacker head angle, lower stack & longer wheel base, its also quicker to lose composure in the big stuff and can be more cumbersome in tight turns.

The Mega is a plough, its hammers thru the rough, but is noticeably heavier, the frame and the build, it rolls slower & require much more energy to cover ground, but it is much more composed in the rough, handles the steep stuff better with its higher stack and turns better with the smaller wheelbase & smaller rear wheel.

I Prefer the rolling speed of the full 29er in general, obviously the lighter weight of the transition, but the higher stack & shorter reach & steeper head angle of the Nukeproof, I often ponder combining them both but always find a compromise & have no real idea where I would land, I often look at the new Bird Aeris AM carbon, the Transition Patrol, and several others, what I would say is know the geo, the fit and the suspension platform you want, the difference I notice least is the travel amount!!

balance of the team is still awful, its all on Southgate, worst manager in the tournament

    Im 100kgs

on gravel I run 35psi rear, 33psi front as per the zipp calculator recommendation

on trail bike with exo plus maxxis, circa 22psi rear, 20psi front.

on the enduro bike with DD maxxis, again, circa 22psi rear & 20psi front.

if rocky or racing ill go up 1 or 2 psi on tbs, if very wet & muddy, down 1 or 2 psi on the gravel.

just putting that out there for balance.

He’s England’s second most successful manager, in terms of going deep in tournaments

Doesn’t really mean anything does it?

I’m thinking Southgate’s luck, of which he has had lots, will run out fast & hard.

Going into a tournament with an exciting pool of players yet we have no definitive system or midfield pairing? no defined tactics, system, patterns of play, etc. Iceland highlighted this very quickly.

All this then opens us up to a Fifa world of thinking picking individuals and hoping it works out, however far we get will be due to our briliant individuals.

Ive also a transition sentinel v2 and really like it, can still be a lil cumbersome on mellow rides though.

Not sure what budget is but is the pivot switchblade worth a look? Whyte T-140? Personally id also look at an orange stage 6 evo as i also love how oranges ride, so much fun.

How big & heavy are you? that plays a part in how the heavier damping characteristics of shocks will feel for you to some extent but also consider the durability, speak to J-Tech, TF and they will advocate the Ohlin’s over the fox, EXT.

As above my Float X2 was so unreliable I went for a Ohlins coil, can fault it an prefer it to the other coils I’ve had.

Personally id go Ohlins front & back, but if budgets an issue, and you want matching? id go RS front & rear.

RAAW Madonna v3 would be top of my list, bang up to date geo & sizing, if you’re taller you might benefit from the stack height on the v3 being higher than previous, which is a good thing imo.

i implied ‘I’ would consider that as a replacement for his current bike 😇

you have made up the weight also, kinda boring that.

Where do you ride? Sounds like a medium travel middle of the road geometry, modern trail bike is in order

Just back from a week there at the start of the month, still very hot, 28-32 everyday, very dusty but highly recommended.

We had a local Italian guide & driver for the week for our group, took us to all over, we ate lunch up in the hills with the locals every day, great variety of riding, loved it.

Agree with the above, not sure its the place to leave the missus for 5+ days… not that much there.

I had the same dilemma a few months back after opted for a Mega MX despite really wanting a Giga MX. I read / watched a couple of comparisons my tweed valley bikes & maybe a video by Bike Radar or someone? I came to the conclusion the Giga required a more active riding style and as I ride mtb less, an easier bike to hop on was the right one for me, id echo the above the mega just plows fast.

I went MX for the tight and twisty bits riding a XL, only time I miss a full 29 is when blasting thru the rough stuff.

As for cracking frame, two very good, capable riders from within the industry that I know have both snapped / cracked the rear triangle on their Giga’s & replaced them with a Mega in the last 6 months.

Llandegla sounds sensible, maps tell me it 65min drive…

good places that are a similar amount of travel id recommend that havent been mentioned,

    Chapel House, south lakes

    Cwm hill, north Wales
