I’ve had loads of these on my ex directory Vurgin landline.

At first it annoyed me but now its more fun just to string them along and make them mad… its hilarious how quickly they start swearing at you.

They’re more than likely not investigating to make the roads safer, rather investigating so the insurance companies involved can attribute blame and work out how much money they can make and from who.

I suppose you would prefer that the swept the road and filled in holes etc. With normal traffic going by?

Thats not quite what I said… but there are so many other countries were they get the roads cleared with half of the hype and fuss we put into it.
Actually sometimes all thats needed is a quick simple solution rather than 1000 miles of cones so 1 man can go and pick up a piece of glass and a snapped license plate, while 15 other hi-vis folk watching with clipboards from the side.

The UK health and safety wombles will always close things down for far far far longer than its actually necessary. Regardless of the cause or type of accident.

Sorry for the blatant plug, but this really is a great bike… and with only a few days of use

Paypal will have you covered… they are massively biased towards the buyer.
The huge downside is that they will screw you with their extortionate fees (well at least the seller anyway).

    Timbud – utter shite.

Fuel quality has no bearing at all on nitrogen oxide emissions and the lower temperatures generated by an EGR would still produce soot. You would never pass a proper emissions test without one which, I can assure you, the Ringlemann smoke test performed at an MOT is not.

Get rid of the egr too… In what world do you ever think is good for your engine to pump back in dirty air? How can that help except to destroy your engine and coke it up.
Quality fuels do help you engine in the long term. Thats just a basic fact.
Very few cars on the road would actually pass a proper emission test purely because the vast majority of drivers don’t look after or do simple maintenance on their cars… thats why the MOT is like it is.

Don’t get me wrong here the DPF is a good idea, but as ever with EU emissions, the implementation has been rushed through as cheaply as possible so the products we left with on our cars are just not up to the job.

It was the same with Catalytic converters back in the day… Instead of investing in lean burn engines (which would have the same result) they went for a cheap bolt on fix. Knee Jerk reactions never have good outcomes.

Or just get rid of them.
Whilst they do work in a sense and do arguably reduce emissions, the DPF will destroy your full economy (by about 5mpg in my car) and then burn even more fuel when it regenerates (burns off all the ‘stored’ particulates)… plus because of the increased exhaust back pressure they can also reduce the general efficiency of your engine in the first place, thereby truing more fuel.
If you do mainly short journeys they might not ever regenerate (they need a sustained period of around 10-15 mins of rapid driving) properly.

Best thing to do is have it removed (and replaced with a dummy box) and mapped out of your car’s ECU… Although if discovered its an MOT failure and £1000 fine. Mr MOT can’t physically check it so there are ways around this during inspection.

At the end of the day if you look after your car and use quality fuel (not that cheap rubbish at the supermarket) your emission will easily be in the legal limit anyway. So there’s no need for one.

I am just blending in the BritLand culture …

As the Aussie would say … whinging pom … so true.
Whinging is the most detestable part of modern ‘British’ culture and is never anything to be proud of.

Can’t quite understand what all the fuss is about in this thread.

Matt LeBlanc is a massively talented driver, is a massive petrolhead and has a pretty relevant skillset. Whether you though he was good in Joey or not.
Chris Evans is the only solid element in new TG unfortunately, as he’s bought into it an will milk it to massage his massive ‘fiery’ ego. Even though I don’t like him much, he probably will be fairly good at it.

The rest of the presenters will be there only temporarily (except the Stig I imagine) albeit for a season or two (apparently), so the whole thing could be quite fluid.

Eddie Jordan is only rumoured to be in for presenting on motorsport (which he’s pretty good at)… but this is still not 100% confirmed.

@Chewkw, aren’t there enough politics thread already. PS. Thanks for paying my wage, I’ll be milking it for some time.

    Nice maxtorque.
The only thing thats really put me off RS recently is the black on black on black… but we might just add a bit of white. So tired of seeing stealth bikes.

I’ve been running a 2016 170mm 36 on my bike since July last year. 3 ½ months at tA in Les Arcs (and the wider Savoie) and its been absolutely faultless. So much support that i’ve removed all tokens and only have 60psi in them. Honestly haven’t noticed any lack of small bump sensitivity… even though it went some way past the recommend service interval.
Best fork I’ve used in a long time… even better than the mighty 55 RC3 ti from 2010.
    Can’t wait for the 2017

Yeah it very committing but not as hard as it looks… have to take the left tight and steep and you generate some nice speed from it.

You can actually spot it a few times in this Trans-Savoie Day2 video from last years race

Should’ve mentioned before, yours is a sweet little vid too southwestrider. A few of the trails you featured are in the above vid too.

Nice one welshfarmer… we’ll be around in the evenings to give you some solid trail advice to help you get to the good stuff. We won’t just leave you to it.

xyeti did you get a reply from me yet? I’ve got everything that came in yesterday already, sorry if I missed yours

Hard to workout who you all are here with all of our silly forum names 😉

I’ve got an XL Yeti SB4.5 for sale on PinkBike.
Is an absolute ripper and only had a few days use: http://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/1911655/

Might be a bit above your price range though 😉

Its well worth paying for some quality guiding welshfarmer (trailAddiction), you’ll get taken on way more trails that you’ll ever find by yourself. Plus you’ll get the logistical backup to do some of the bigger back country epics too. Even in a week you’ll barely scratch the surface of what Les Arcs has on offer and then you go over the Vanoise and there’s a whole other world of trails there too.

It always sad how many people we still meet trying to find their way around the mountains and meanwhile our guests have an absolute blast because they only have to think about the riding and little else.

Also got the 295 wheelset on my bike. Used them guiding in the Alps all through the summer and apart from the usual truing tweaks they’ve been brilliant.
A tiny bit flexy in the rear if you’re pushing hard and can dent quite easily.

I use only the 19mm stans tape so it doesn’t over the beadbite and it works perfectly.

(Am looking forward to the new trail 345s that were announced last year)

Yeah, we got a 4 pane 3 fold screen. Looks really nice and folds away neatly so we can both get in the bath without someone being imprisoned.

As a shower screen though, its Crap!!. Leaks so much that we got it replaced under guarantee. Unfortunately our plumbers gave us the same one again without checking with us first, so we still have issues with it.
We have to have the middle 2 section open slightly so they don’t piss all over the floor.
Plus as a long term benefit water (because of its amazing properties) finds its way inside the door frame and limescale grows which forces the whole thing apart… so its gradually self destructing and leaks only get worse.

    It does look nice though

McDs make a big deal out of 100% british beef

Isn’t ‘100% British Beef” the company though, not what they put in their products. 😉

    Nice one xyeti.
I was a customer of trailaddiction for a few years… just kept coming back for longer and longer. It ultimately made sense to start working for them.
Likewise though, I’ve always wanted my holidays to involve as little mundane effort as possible. tA fitted perfectly for me as all I had to think about was riding my bike during the days and enjoying the beers (etc) in the evening. Its so important to maximise your actual holiday time especially when you only get a few weeks per year and less than that on a proper mtb one. Its well worth spending a little money when you’re going to get unbeatable memories.

When choosing a colour… it doesn’t matter what it is, so long as its not black.
Everyone is on black at the moment, it’s so common.

Plus when you drop you back bike in a flood you’ll never see it again. A nice bright colour will stand out so you can rescue it 😉

    Hey neenan1

We’re actually doing non-guided options at trailAddiction[/url] now too. Specifically for people like yourself who have been with us before and don’t feel they need the guiding anymore (although there’s still a whole load of stuff we can show you).
Same great accommodation, same superb food… just without the guiding. Our guys will be on hand to give you trail advice if you need it and we’ll still throw in one day of guiding so we can take you on a big day out, or just show you some of the new stuff. 🙂
Oh and only for £495 too

    Cheers
