I am moving back to a busy area in a few weeks and trying to decide the best security, as mine will be in a shed unfortunately. Admittedly it won’t be easy to get to but as can be seen they’ll do anything. Any good and cheap alarms? A security light is also a good idea I think

    Recommendations welcome

I also ride in & around Salisbury, chalk is claggy so try and avoid but all the rest seems to be okay…just pray for a nice icy morning and it is super fast

Yes DT rims – is it as simple as that – even if they aren’t tubeless tyres or rims?

Well this article didn’t help me at all! I love the new Cube stereo 650b, it ticks all my boxes for a ‘do it all’ bike! I do lots of XC, technical stuff, messing about and the odd DH day, I’m also not worried about being super efficient so I can cope with pushing round 160mm. A hardtail would be fine and I like them but if I’m spending £3k on a bike it’s gotta be pretty fricking special!

But…what if 650b falls by the wayside and I’m buggered for parts in a few years time? Yes that is my worry! 26 & 29 are def here to stay don’t want to be screwed on a couple of years!

It is the chargers, one of my riding groups blew across the room and set on fire (nothing serious), luckily he was in the next room! I use mine and it is fine!

If you do go for the £30 chinese lights, just be aware that the chargers may blow up – almost all my riding group have them and most are fine, but one lads charger blew up across the room and set on fire – just make sure you are around when it is charging and don’t leave it overnight.

Quality light for the price apart from that!

Totally agree with OP – I was out yesterday with both front and rear lights (though I did start in the dark) and was very glad of both even once the fog lifted slightly as it was a murky day. Not bothered what the law says it was common sense. When I was driving later I also had my lights on in my car as it was common sense. (Note the theme)

I am not a fan of cyclists that do not apply common sense and respect for all road users i.e.

    – Red light jumping
    – Riding abreast when a car comes – most of my riding is in the New Forest and we ride two a breast chatting, when a car comes we go single file. It is polite and courteous and 99% of drivers are courteous back, in no way affects our ride
    – Lights on when it is dark, helmets etc

Not saying I am perfect but if all road users where a bit more courteous it would help. On the flip side I get ferking angry when cars nearly run me over!

    I don’t think I am hate-able sort of chap…well I could be wrong I suppose

Yes it would appear that paying for speedy delivery confuses them and so they leave it till last!

Assuming I can’t fit 10mm into 12mm slot and it will work then? Forgive the obvious stupidity but we’re all allowed one stupid question!

Me & all my little riding group all use them…you have to spend £200+ to match the brightness, could replace every year if needs be, very highly reccomended

Ooh I didn’t know there was an XL version, only seen the three sizes where I have been looking – thanks

Yeah – I will try before I buy, just trying to cross off as many as possible, currently between: –

Spicy 516 2013 (dodgy colour scheme)
Canyon Strive (ridden a pals medium and too small but very nice & hell of a spec)
Spesh Enduro Evo (prob too heavy)

I want an all day pedaller than can handle downhill stuff and maybe a week in the alps, I also like a very stiff front end (not fox 32s)

    Any other suggestions welcome

Nothing wrong with it at all, replaced the bearings not long ago, I just find the wheels to be weak and of poor quality..but they are still mostly round so its a ‘want’ scenario rather than a ‘need’

    thanks

Thanks all, I have considered changing the fork, but by the time I have done the fork, stem & wheels may as well buy a new bike really, so thought a change of wheels will keep me going another year or so and then perhaps a new bike next year!

I like the idea of building a new wheel…do I trust myself though!!
