Definitely improved the shifting on my XT mech, I do need to lose a couple of links from the chain though. Great little addition

I’m in the Nomad camp, no surprise given that I own it. But looking at it, sitting on it & riding it just make me happy. Orange fives are good to ride but I’m not the biggest fan of the looks of that swing arm. The 650b with 1*11 does look nice in the flesh though, cleans it up a treat

I reckon the tracer wins for me, helped by craigxxl’s comment

    Thanks for all the help

I’ll get hold of knog anyway, mudguard in place means water not yet been an issue

Torn between the seesense and the traceR. Both look good, traceR has battery indicator but seesense looks really good for long winter daytime rides as well as my 1.25hr commute. hmmmm….

I’ve gone to the knog warranty thing but looks like it wouldn’t be covered, I’ll send them feedback though, not what you expect from a £35 or so of light

Bit worried See-sense may be more intelligent that me, I do like the long run time though

I like the idea of the exposure (I use the 6-pack up front), expensive though.

Moonsheild also looking good and good price..

Understood, I run the rebound about 2 clicks slower than middle as well, if that helps

No top out in mine I’m afraid

Lower leg service made a big difference to the feel though, a lot smoother and plusher. Have popped a token in but I’m 15st, quite a hard rider and run 80psi

It is only about 2 ft but you can’t roll it or the dai hard jump now, all else is rollable.

It’s only black if you hit everything at pace and all the big features, otherwise it’s not much different to the blues

Bus driver said they’d added the double, the drop on dai hard & wooden drop on A470 as ‘qualifiers’, i.e. If you can’t do them don’t bother with the rest as you’ll hurt yourself.

Sixtapod in to willy waver is blue and a great warm up

Wibbly wobbly and then finish off with willywaver is a good run from red in to blue.

The new A470 is a cracking run with some nice jumps (you can roll them all if not keen) and then in to pork chop and then insignificant funds make for a good combo of red/black/red with only a foot drop-off to negotiate if you are worried about it.

The blacks above the fire road have some big features in them, you can roll some of them but the rest take some commitment, if you’re not a fun of jumping or big rocks then give it a miss and enjoy the others. The blacks below the fire road don’t tend to have any jumps or big drops but are very rocky.

There are lots of combo’s but that is what I was doing when I was there. Next time I plan to session A470 and enter the dragon and get up to speed on those!

I bought a reverb from bike-discount.de and had it replaced under warranty – took a week or two but to be expected really, very smooth indeed

25p per mile is fine – as long as it’s for business use, same as a car (this is the self employed counter to C2W)

Nothing stopping you buying the bike as an asset for the biz – technically you should pay benefit in kind for any personal use.

Get it serviced, I had same issue sorted under warranty

From bike-discount.de actually who were awesome with the whole thing

Yeah I do it, wear old boardies over lycra bib shorts – comfortable, light and easy. Get surf specific ones which usually have a key pocket with some cord to tie the key too

    Unsurprisingly they ain’t very waterproof…!

Despite TheArtistFormerlyKnownAsSTR’s pointless comment, you’ve nailed it Gardon, its all about what you want most from your bike.

Both bikes are awesome and will do anything but nomad is more downhill orientated

I had upgraded to Pikes which were a world of difference, plus renthal bar & stem.

As of yesterday upgraded the frame to a Nomad carbon…the Cube was awesome but doesn’t touch the Nomad

Took my new Nomad carbon in XL out last night, much better up and down than I expected. I did have the Carbon Cube Stereo 650b which was great but the Nomad is head and shoulders above it – definitely on the steeper downhill stuff. I was genuinely surprised at how much better it was…even allowing for the new bike/placebo effect.

I did get the Vivid Air shock as a free upgrade (big shout out to Ubyk, who were amazing). So far there is nothing I don’t like…not sure it would be great on a long XC ride with lots of flat drags but that isn’t what its for. I have ridden 1*10 for a while so no issues there.

The main difference was how planted it felt and how much time I felt I had on the descents, was very secure. The long top tube and short chain stays make it feel stable but the back end is easily maneuverable and no issues there.

The cube was great but the engineering and internal cable routing is a thing of beauty on the Nomad.

Only downside is the IS disc mount…needed to get an adaptor for it!

I thought about the Bronson but the slacker Nomad took it for me and although Bronson is probably more suited to the majority of my riding I prefer to lug a bit more travel around so I can hit the descents as hard as possible.

Taking in to account the notes above about new bike being the best ever…this really does feel amazing!
