There is a problem we’re identifying with the numbers from what I hear. GP’s can put a clinical diagnosis of Covid-19 down on the death certificate but with no testing many may not be and may simply be putting pneumonia. Beyond this there is a reporting lag from the weekend due to the death registration process. From looking at last weeks numbers Wednesday and Thursday’s look more realistic. I can tell you from inside the hospital that numbers are starting to escalate quickly. I expect although can’t be certain we are going to see very large increases in numbers by the end of the week.

Telegraph and Express reported the same today…I think it’s too early to read too much into these numbers as there seems to be a reporting lag.

The figures don’t make sense based on Italy and Spain either, unless we have a very low CFR

I can see companies abusing the antibody tests as well

If you have had it you will be told to come back in – I suppose this is fair enough based on what we know.

If you haven’t had it you’ll be encouraged to expose yourself so you can come back to work afterwards… irrespective of the harm this causes.

Mrs RNP in A&E with it today, symptoms started last Monday that progressed through fever, cough etc, had breathing difficulties this Monday, felt fine yesterday as though she was on the mend, woke up today with quite severe breathing difficulties, did the online Corona check, 111, got worse so 999 and taken to A&E.

Blood saturations level okay and all other signs ok, done chest xray. Dont know much more at this time.

I’ve been amazed by the mental gymnastics some people will go through to find a loophole to allow them to do X.

Is this going to be enough to stop the virus? – non retail business is going to stay open…huge amount of chance for transmission amongst staff.

The confused messages and changing the wording in the tweeted announcement don’t help…

The published advice is pretty clear, it doesn’t matter whether it’s essential or not, if it’s work, and they can’t do it from home, then they can travel to do it.

That’s not what the latest says. It’s key workers only:

UK Prime Minister (@10DowningStreet) Tweeted: PM @BorisJohnson has announced that everyone must now stay at home except in exceptional circumstances, to protect our NHS and save lives. https://t.co/U76ccAGVyE https://twitter.com/10DowningStreet/status/1242193317510684678?s=20

That’s great, thanks! I did notice that extra pin hole but wasn’t sure if that could be used or not.

Need to measure but from memory it is ~20mm difference on my fork between the pin holes. But if you can use a Reba spacer then these are more available…

I was tempted by a bit of conduit though 🙂

    Cheers for the help

Snapped the foot nut off a set of Wotans in a moment of haste.

Had to drill it out, and then retap, and then try to find a new but, which I could only find from somewhere in France, who didn’t do anything in English, and my high school French didn’t stretch that far…

Destroyed a set of square taper cranks trying to remove them with an octalink crank tool. Wrecked the tool as well

I couldn’t work out why they were so tight.

I had to cut the crank off in the end…

The whole thing has proven to me that our politicians do not give two iota’s how many suffer.

They would happily walk past the queues for food banks, the overflowing job centres and over a pile of corpses of those who can’t get essential medicines if it got them slightly more power and money. Boris Johnson is the worst culprit but the fiddling whilst Rome burns shows they are (largely) all the same. Two faced ****.

I really couldn’t care less about being British anymore. We are a joke

Not at all, they aren’t going anywhere. Big things are going on behind the scenes, they are here to stay.

Well, if they won’t even speak to their current customers, how are they here to stay in business?

They can do as many big things behind the scenes…but if they continue to treat people like shit, then how is the company going to sell a single other item.

The only way I’d buy off them is if I could pay on delivery…and even then it would have to be very cheap as you know the warranty would be worth nothing.

You need trust in business. No one trusts this company anymore.

Just buy a BFe, or a Trailstar, or a Stanton… They’ll turn up, have a warranty and probably be better bikes

Just stick with the 2x until it wears out and then see what’s available. 1x isn’t really an upgrade.

That’s my plan with my Jeffsy.

The only downside to 2x is not being able to run an underbar dropper lever.

Hope will be fancier, but more expensive, and equally bombproof

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trading_while_insolvent

    I know it’s wiki…

Reading that, Sick do seem perilously close to, or could actually be regarded as trading whole insolvent

They can’t pay their bills, they don’t appear to have any assets of value, and are still openly trading.

I’ve got nothing against them…but what’s the chance of any order someone makes today being fulfilled? At that point they are knowingly scamming people

I made a new mount with some plastic to lower the cage in the frame. Side exit spesh cage and a torq 500ml bottle just fits on a Jeffsy…so probably doable

I don’t know what’s more difficult…trying to find funding for Sick or trying to work out their range of frames:

    Shrike
    Sesh
    Gnarccist
    Wulf
    Hacksaw
    Death from Above
    Gnarpoon
    Sleipner

    Anymore?

I’m not really sure of the difference in the hardtails, and not sure if the last two ever got further than notional

    Tim

$320 + $110 “express shipping” apparently, if you want two frames, they can ship them in one box, so you only pay once.
More importantly, they said you can pick your colour 👍

Just buy a BFE, or a Stanton, or a DMR, or…(insert British steel hardtail)

    It’ll be better anyway 🙂

I was also worried that if we did sit down and decide to make a pleasing business case, and take a huge loan, that it would cost us a lot more in the long term anyway – while doubling down on risk, doubling down on the pressure to succeed. It seemed like the lightest way of doing that. It also relied heavily that everything was delivered on time, and that people would be prepared to wait.

And if it wasn’t, it would be okay because we had a close relationship with the customer, that there would never be that point where they were really concerned that it was like some kind of pyramid scheme or something like that.

This quote from the PB article is telling. It was always the plan to pass the risk to the customer…

In addition, with this in mind, they purposefully targeted the Ti frames as loss leaders…so they were intentionally creating a situation where they were spending money that they didn’t have on passion projects…knowing that this money should have been going to frame builders

    Again, from PB article

On top of that, the biggest mistake I made was my own passion projects. The titanium frames, the reason that they’re on the market for half the price of every other one, was not because there was a shady deal where they were made out of garbage. It was because: One, we brought up someone else’s production time that fallen through. And two, that they were loss leaders.

They have clearly pissed money up the wall, and now can’t pay the builder.

So we’re they hoping to sell enough t-shirts to fund this? Because selling more frames you can’t supply (as you’d have to sell them at high enough to cover both sets of frames which is never going to happen) is full on Ponzi and illegal… So they are playing a dangerous game.

    What was the plan?

Where did the money for the frames go?

When you are trail riding you are not wheelieing per se… you are weight shifting (more of a small manual).

I find my rig the same. The front just doesn’t come off the floor. That’s a long rigid 29er

    Tim

I find rigid forks hard to lift as you can’t preload the front end. Plus I suspect it has relatively long centre, stem and low bars?

Would be good to see the whole video – not just that bit taken out of context (although it clearly seems to be a silly joke).

Makes the article look really bad though. The whole first part throws Sam under the bus. I understand the wider story of the article but it’s really not been thought through
