Got 3% in Jan last instalment of a three year deal

Part of the deal was if inflation was over 3.5% or under 2.% both sides would talk about extra or less to take that figure into account

The company were not so keen when it was at 5% in fact flatly refused to even discuss it, bet they would have if it had been 2%

Was that a Canon 60D with 17-55 f/2.8 lens by any chance

Indeed it was Alex, right bargain although I already have a 17-55mm, but wouldn’t have minded a new dust free one

Wide angle lens won’t be cheap, think around the 300 quid mark for a Sigma 10-20mm and then upwards from there

No chance, tried similar with a camera/lens deal and they just cancelled the order. Not obligated to sell at a given price unless its been despatched

Good result though, used one of their codes and got 50 quid off, but they refunded the full price to my credit card. So cheers for the little bonus, every little helps you know

Started off with this, its a FWB300S

Then bought one of these, a FWB601 and it was one of the finest made precision items I have ever owned

Not exactly killing machines, but superb for the task they were made for, back injury finished my 10m target shooting days

Only shooting I do now is with one of these

Preferred SG Atlantis to Universe, but agree with Star Trek Voyager being good.

Not sci-fi, but Buffy is very watchable as are some of the earlier series of the X Files

i’ve only tried getting shots of the moon once and my settings were miles off. cheers for posting up in this thread, i’ll try some more like the above next time!

Just out of interest, my settings were as follows
    Shutter Speed 1/200
    Aperture f/8
    ISO 100
    Focal length 400mm

Best to spot meter from the moon and keep the exposure time fairly short otherwise you start to get star trails plus the subject is on the move too

Pentax K-r is supposed to be very good, no video though if that’s a deal breaker

I had a K100D Super and not sure there is a setting to disable the shutter, contradicting my own advice there, but worth having a look on case there is

One of the reasons I don’t just have a single large capacity card, at least that way know I have a few spares in my bag, but there again the OP didn’t actually know he had forgotten it

Lesson learnt for the future is about the only good thing to come from it

The travelodge where Alan Partridge resided looked ok especially with your own 12″ plate 🙂

Can understand why it won’t see the camera without the EOS disc, but card reader should be ok

Does it see the reader or just not see the files on the card when inserted?

Have you tried a different USB port?

    TijuanaTaxi

Should be a setting you can select that doesn’t allow shooting without a card, what camera is it?

I did actually see a Cuckoo once, very underwhelming, but pleasing as I had only ever heard them before that sighting though

The chippy in Theobalds Rd, Holborn opposite the nick used to be excellent, believe they still used lard or similar for the chips.

Plan 4 was if I remember correctly jacks 95a max of 4 and bell set 26 on the end in case no phone plugged in.
If you wanted a real challenge try faulting on an HES or large collection of key and lamp units with P/W’s connected that used balanced battery signalling.

This last bit is not amusing given it did end fatally on at least one occasion, good part of my time was spent as a works supervisor and less than pleasant when one of the contractors hit a UG power cable

Telex worked on about 80v both legs and when I was a PTO the megger we used gave out about 500V dc, accidentally caught many a faultsman jointer with that one

Back to the OP, yes it needs reporting via your CP, not so sure it’s RTP having read the thread again, that usually cuts off after one ring hence the name. The ringing tone you hear is generated from the exchange back to the caller and doesn’t mean the phone is ringing at the distant end.

Could be a multitude of faults and all you can do is make sure you have proved it away from your premises otherwise its 130 quid

This might do the trick for carrying and protection, pretty good price I reckon Bag

Lenspen or cloth and spare batteries/memory card are a good start and remote release too

Could buy no end of stuff, but get taking some pictures first, not a bad idea to get some sort of processing software, Photoshop Elements is as good as anything for the money

Tripod – not particularly useful outside of special situations I don’t reckon

That is one of the worst bits of advice I have ever heard someone give to a photography newcomer

Pretty good advice there from Alejandro, you can also buy shoulder straps that attach to the tripod, prefer it to a bag myself

If they don’t already come with anything on the legs, bit of pipe lagging makes them much nicer to the hand in the colder weather

Three extension legs will be more stable then the four variety and if you don’t need the full height use the larger legs out first. Legs are either twist lock or clip type, much prefer the latter, but opinions are divided on that choice

Don’t forget you will also need a head, ball or 3 way type and again a matter of opinion although in my view a good solid ball head takes some beating. Make sure it has a Q/R plate too, so much easier to attach and detach the camera, friction control is another handy feature to have

Manfrotto 055 has always been my choice, got a very old 055CB and just recently bought a 055XPROB

Bit heavy, but very stable, good height without using the centre column (not a good idea turning your sturdy tripod into a monopod)
All parts available as spares so can be practically rebuilt if required although I have never needed to.

Have heard good things said about the Vanguard Alta Pro 263AT, but wouldn’t want to recommend anything I hadn’t personally used

My old ma uses LPG and has a tank supplied by Calor

Including tank rental her standing order is 90 quid a month, she has gas heating and cooking so seems she pays roughly the same on gas that I pay for gas and electric in a year for three of us

I liked Igls in Austria as a beginner, loads to do apart from Skiing with Innsbruck a 20 minute scenic tram ride down the mountain

Even get the chance to try out a four man Bob on the Olympic track, two paying guests in the middle. Go up to the top of the Bergisel ski jump and never take the piss out of Eddie the Eagle again

Even an alpine zoo in Innsbruck, short transfer time from the airport which is terrifying landing in a blizzard as we once did when you see its location in daylight.

    Could be REIN issues

Try tuning a radio to MW 612khz and if you hear a loud buzz it’s probably REIN related

Electric fences are bad news along with railway power cables, lots of domestic electrical items too

I used an 80Ah battery via a zig unit and with gas water heater, fridge and hob/oven it lasted a week just running lights, propex heater and water pump if parked up

Also had a 12in B&W TV for news/weather every night for about 15 minutes

Charged when we drove and the fridge was 12v when moving too, but we tended to stop in one place quite a bit

Got bitten by a collie about six months ago, lucky I had baggy old joggers on otherwise it would have been a whole lot worse, dog got fabric rather than skin

Owner was apologetic and had the dog put down (know because my old ma lives just up the road) did say that was the second time and it had to go

My views and Mr Elf’s are poles apart and for that reason I opted not to argue with him.

Not my cup of tea and sure I’m not his, have to accept that in life there are just people you don’t get on with and never would

Not pleased or displeased he has been banned, but some of you who are now saying good riddance did fan the flames at times and I’m assuming enjoyed the sport

Things move on and will all soon be forgotten, bit like people who think their employer and colleagues couldn’t cope without them, oh yes they can
