The list of what you could buy is almost endless

Do you want crop or full frame is the first question, no point me suggesting a wide angle 10-22mm if you want FF

Also need software, something like LR4 if you shoot RAW

What do you call a decent Tripod, might want to spend out on a nice CF model with a decent head.

More detail needed before further suggestions can be made especially re the subject matter

Without sounding harsh learn to use what you already have and then you might know what else you need or what camera you want next

The 7D has just had a big firmware update which added some handy new features.

What gap do you think you have in your lenses?

All I can see is possibly a wide angle plus the 17-55mm is an EF-S lens and won’t work with a 5D

1972 FA Cup fifth round Orient V Chelsea

All ticket 30,000 crowd at Brisbane Road, muddy pitch in January

O’s from the lower reaches of div 2, losing 0-2 after half hour to a Chelsea side that had players like Osgood, Webb, Harris etc etc.

Pulled one back just before half time, drew level about the hour mark and winner came with a minute left

I’d go for a grey import 24-105f4….should be about £550 from the usual suspects

My daughter bought one last month and best price was from Hdew (£605) Good service, came very quickly in plain box and suspect it was split from a 5D mkIII kit

I bought a Gitzo tripod from them, had sand or something similarly gritty in the lower leg locks and the head mount kept turning with no tools to tighten it up

Got a refund, but not my return postage, less than impressed and wouldn’t use again

As said above, convert to DNG and use ACR in your current PS software Converter

Not a bad idea anyway, DNG will be future proof and saves in one file doing away with the sidecar

The ending has changed from when I saw it at the pictures

The last few frames showed Obi-Wan, Yoda and Vader without his mask, but it’s a different bloke now, was a much older chap or at least i’m pretty sure he was.

Born and lived in East London for over forty years so twelve years in Cambs hasn’t made much difference to my cockney accent.

I can still do a very passable Ray Winstone impersonation

Another good reason to be a first aider at work is the insurance cover

Means I am covered at all times in and out of work, not to be overlooked in these litigious times

Been a first aider at work for over 25 years and always handy to know what to do if the need arises

In July this year on my way to work just before 7am a young lady went into labour at the bus stop. Called an ambulance and ressured her, laid her down on the pavement and encouraged her to take deep breaths

Single paramedic in a car turned up and assisted him as the lady gave birth there and then before the ambulance arrived. Ended up holding a strangers hand whilst she had a healthy albeit premature little boy

Admittedly didn’t have to do the medical bit, thought for a minute I would though. It’s more about having the confidence in knowing what to do and staying calm in an emergency

Well worth doing the training and never know when you might need the skills

Suffer from this too, Zippo handwarmer has been very handy in keeping my hands warm.

Not really found any gloves to be that great and just wear Thinsulate ones

Not usually into all this herbal remedy lark, but someone recommended something called Ginkgo Biloba and it did work

I agree with the above comments, you might need to increase the budget a bit to get started

I think this is a great idea, fully intend to sign up for some free shares the day before I resign for retirement

At any other time it’s the most despicable idea yet from this shower of ****

I had a Pentax K100D and it was an excellent camera, get some decent rechargeable AA’s and you won’t go far wrong.

The Pentax 18-55mm lens is available at a goodly price and found it to be one of the better kit lenses

As tony says you can use loads of older lenses although many will not auto focus

Total bargain for 75 quid and don’t think you will find anything better for the money, in fact sure you won’t

Tamron 70-300 VC is supposed to be very decent for the money

My daughter has the 55-250mm IS and its excellent for what it costs

Can’t comment on the 70-200mm non IS, but supposed to be excellent and best of the lot although pricy is the new’ish 70-300L IS

Personally use a 70-200 f/4 IS with a 1.4 TC for a bit extra focal length when required.

Depends what you want to spend, but not heard anything great about the lens you mention in your title and think my choice would be the Tamron or the 70-200

X-Ray glasses free with the Beezer in the 60’s

Well chuffed with them until they split and found it was just a feather between the coloured selophane that made me think I was looking at everyones skeletal forms

In my defence I was only about six years old

I think you can have what you want as long as it’s already fitted – they can hardly come round and repo anything

Think that’s what I said as in you can still purchase them

Gas Hobs also have to be installed by a CORGI registered engineer using rigid pipe with shut off valve
Mine is still hooked up with a flexible pipe, said it was ok in the instructions, but only if it didn’t pass anything hot like the oven

There again I’m not a landlord so who cares 🙂

In these safety conscious days it’s still legal to have a gas hob without a flame failure device

Flame blows out, gas continues to flow, kaboom

Dearer ones do have that feature and just bought a new hob for that very reason

Must be law for rented accomodation, wondered why when I asked which hobs had the device the salesman asked if I was a landlord (no i’m not)

So ok to blow yourself up as an owner occupier, but not your tenants

The new Canon 650D has been designed with video in mind and a couple of new lenses have gone on sale too

Not sure why they are better for video, not my thing, but the review I read mentioned it. So if that’s important the Canon would seem the better bet

Also think the Canon is higher end starter model if that makes any sense

Personally would buy the Pentax K30, weatherproof and better spec all round especially the viewfinder

Used to have one at work until..

Pulled my strides down for a tom tit and the pager came unclipped from my jeans pocket straight down the bog

Didn’t fancy fishing it out from the works bog so flushed it away

Told the guvnor I had lost it and he suggested trying the number to see if I could hear it

Probably sailed straight out into the Thames and ended up who knows where

Perhaps have a look at the Canon 15-85 IS, would give a good range on your camera and cheaper than the 17-55mm although not that fast.

Also worth a mention is the Sigma 17-70 OS, f/2.8 at the wide end and not overly expensive

Not only distance that affects stability and speed

Cable conductor size and whether copper/aluminium makes a difference too

Also amount of other users on particular cable can have an effect.

FTTC is obviously a benefit, but Infinity only works up to approx 1.4km from cabinet

BT only obligated to provide line that conforms to SIN349 and have only ever guaranteed speech not data

Constant dropping out can be a feature of REIN, but would suspect distance is more of a problem in your case
To check for REIN tune a radio into MW 612kHz and if present you should hear interference

Also remember the distance from exchange is not how the crow flies and cables can take a longer route

Miss the London of my childhood and teen/early twenties years

Born and lived there for forty years and it got progressively dirtier and house prices reached crazy heights even in less than great areas.

Moved when my daughter reached school age, didn’t want her to be disadvantaged where all the money was spent on non english speakers and problem cases

Lovely seeing the stars in a dark sky and the air is so much clearer, so all in all glad I lived there in better times, but leaving was the right decision.

That was vindicated when my daughter completed her studying and became an Optometrist thanks to what I think was a better education than she would have received in a deprived London borough comprehensive.

Still miss strolling over to watch the Orient and having a pint in the Birkbeck

I have a 1890’s end of terrace cottage and had some damp patches when we bought it

Had the plaster removed and redone with the correct stuff, all fine apart from the usual condensation issues.

To be expected in these old houses, not much wrong with them, but building materials have changed a lot since they were built

    (no cavity wall in mine)

I get seven days bus travel for £22.50, use it for work which is about a 35 mile round trip

They run between St Ives and Cambridge on a dedicated guided busway with a bus every 7 or 8 minutes, buses have air con, free wi-fi and leather seats.

Excellent value and would be mad to drive (can’t anymore for health reasons, so bit of a moot point anyway)
