After the LG disappointment decided to have another try
Bought a Toshiba 32″ from Tesco’s for 299 quid and its so much better, can only assume that LG was a friday special. Sound is a bit tinny, but wasn’t expecting much and easy enough to put through the external speakers
Set a limit of 300 quid and reckon this one will do, not great TV watchers so that’s more than enough cash to spend on a goggle boxOne other point, went into Comet’s asked about their returns policy and basically they don’t have one.
Tesco give you until January to return a TV for a full refund if not satisfiedNo surprise who we bought from, Comet must be one of the very few shops to operate such an inflexible policy, so just buy online from them if you must and use the DSR legislation
TijuanaTaxiFree MemberWas it Linda Barker, had bit of a northern accent I thought, definitely slim and did up houses
TijuanaTaxiFree MemberBBC is in an industrial tribunal at the moment for sacking older women (Country File)
Shame, I quite liked that Julia Bradbury, no spring chicken though it must be said
TijuanaTaxiFree MemberWe are heading back to the dark old days of worker exploitation.
Already seen it with my company, no new people, just try to screw down the existing workforce to work more with antisocial hours. if you complain just get told there are many others who will do your job or you know where the door is.
Messed with my pension, working hours, struggle to book leave at a time I actually want it and all in the name of profitBenefit cuts that will force people from their homes, particularly flats in better parts of London that they want to sell off
Personally had enough and hopefully off to uni (might even get a loan before the fees go up)at the grand old age of 52 then want to spend the last years of my working life giving something back. Intend to work either at CAB or as a debt/housing counsellor to try and help people out who are in the shit through no fault of their own.
The lib/dems will never get many votes again after the Student Loan debacle, think they have had their fifteen minutes of fame and the only decent thing would be to vote against their paymasters.
TijuanaTaxiFree MemberMargaret Thatcher has a commanding lead over Jeffrey Archer
TijuanaTaxiFree MemberThe four old bags that are on around lunchtime are very annoying
Also the programme with the bloke who looks like a toby jug and an Irish woman is rather aggravating too
Enjoying Autumnwatch, the lady presenter is pleasant, but the bloke who can’t pronounce his R’s isn’t so good
TijuanaTaxiFree MemberI had a so called bricklayer say he could do my garden wall, but couldn’t go round corners, so ok if it was just a straight one.
Then a few years later rang a plumber about installing my boiler, this time he only did leaks
Did the wall myself in the end albeit very very slowly and got a proper plumber to fit the boiler, very good job he did too
TijuanaTaxiFree MemberDidn’t you see it working before you bought it?
No, bought it from Amazon, reviews were good and people on here mentioned it as good value
[/quote]Cannot get a sharp image no matter what settings are tried and there is an awful lot of background digital noise too.
Is that from the inbuilt tuner? Were you watching Freeview, or analogue? Were you using an external source?
Tried it with the inbuilt tuner watching digital and analogue too, also via the BT Vision box connected with an HDMI cable
Maybe just a wrong’un, but it was totally crap
TijuanaTaxiFree MemberThe LG LD450 arrived today and got to say its the biggest crock of shit that I have ever had the misfortune to buy
Cannot get a sharp image no matter what settings are tried and there is an awful lot of background digital noise too.
Not a patch on my old Philips CRT or the cheapo Tesco LCD in the back roomAll packed up and being returned post haste whence it came for a refund. Might try another one from Tesco, can’t be any worse than this thing and sure it will be much better
As mentioned earlier the picture quality was probably a good match for the programmes
TijuanaTaxiFree MemberI for one am astounded you don’t have an organised filing system for all such documents!
Too busy pixel peeping for noise 🙂
TijuanaTaxiFree MemberHow about “In A Big Country” will leave you to guess the band
TijuanaTaxiFree MemberNext will be what lucky town/city will they be Duke and Duchess of
Milton Keynes has a certain ring to it although I suspect somewhere like Oxford or Cambridge will be favourite
TijuanaTaxiFree MemberHope you lot are right about that LG telly, just bought the 32″ one from Amazon for £296.95 delivered.
Seemed to get good reviews and also took the advivs about going up a size, currently got a 26″ wide screen Phillips CRT
p.s. anyone want it, free to collector?
TijuanaTaxiFree MemberThis is Addenbrooke’s, not exactly a new hospital
See here for the full story Air AmbulanceTijuanaTaxiFree MemberDire Straites Money for nothing
Blatant rip off from Rainbow’s Man On The Silver Mountain
TijuanaTaxiFree MemberI’n not keen on steel frames, like trying to wrestle with a wriggly snake and i’ve had a few over the years.
Had a few decent alu frames too, they are much more neutral albeit a bit hard and unforgivingThink ti is a good combo of both, admittedly you have to compare like for like in the quality stakes and so much is down to the geometry too
TijuanaTaxiFree MemberOr do like me have a loony attack in a team meeting, rip the company a new backside and then have your new colleagues and new manager misunderstand your words and get a disciplinary charge for abusive and threatening behaviour
Currently off sick, would say in my defence that the above was mainly due to a cluster headache attack at the time along with other contributing factors
Very ironic that I had just received my 35 years service letter, somehow don’t think there will be another one for me
So go before its too late, no way to live bored rigid every day and got too much for me even at my advanced age
TijuanaTaxiFree MemberSaw them first at the Red Lion Leytonstone and many times since
Went to school with Mr Harris at good old Leyton County High, so many of the tracks remind me of those days such as going to see where eagles dare at the Leyton ABC
Might make it to one last gig, but very strange seeing old buggers the same age as myself still strutting their stuff when you can remember them as youngsters
There again just bought tickets to see Big Country so probably will go, Maiden do a great version of Stray’s All In Your Mind, would love to hear that again, but highly unlikely I reckon
TijuanaTaxiFree MemberMy one and only bike now, 1993 Merlin Mountain with some newer parts
TijuanaTaxiFree MemberWhen we sold our house a while back the bloke from barstard thieves (Bairstow Eves) argued with me about how much I wanted to sell it for
We had seen a house we really wanted at a great price so decided to sell ours at a reasonable price to get it done and dustedThe fool said he didn’t want to sell it for the price suggested because it could devalue others he had for sale nearby.
Got told to clear off and had another lot round who were more than happy and we sold it to the first couple who came round. All went through very speedily, didn’t have all that silliness with offers and we got the house we wanted even cheaper than expected
TijuanaTaxiFree MemberBloody awful, how low can these scumbags get, was it insured?
Only asking because my old ma is always worried someone will nick her mobility scooter, I could only get insurance for when it was at her home
TijuanaTaxiFree MemberBig Country just announced a 30 th anniversary tour, sadly less the brilliant Stuart Adamson RIP, but who better to replace him IMHO than Mike Peters of The alarm ,Who has been on the road pretty much constantly with The Alarm in various line ups and solo, since early 80s ,he is probably the hardest worker in the industry
Reckon I will be going to one of the gigs then, my daughter is bonkers about Big Country. No idea why, but she has all the albums including all the rareties collection along with the soundtrack one too.
She listened to my old copy of the Crossing on vinyl and that was it, could be worse because I quite enjoy their stuff as wellTijuanaTaxiFree MemberStray are still going, remember when they first started as teenagers and bought their first album. Watched them many times at such illustrious venues as Walthamstow Assembly Hall, they were also the backing band for Kiss when I saw them at the Hammersmith Odeon
Can also remember Iron Maiden doing one of their numbers, All In Your Mind, probably their best track and bit of a gamble having a 9 minute opener to your first album
TijuanaTaxiFree MemberToo much to read, so apologies if this view has already been expressed
If it was the only way to get a Paedo to give up an abducted childs whereabouts then yes it could be justified in my opinion
Just the threat would probably do the trick, but if that didn’t work something more physical might be requiredThey can’t even say they are fighting a guerilla war, just plain old sick scum
TijuanaTaxiFree MemberCheers for that, will give them a bell tomorrow, forewarned is forearmed and know this isn’t over yet by a long way
So many things wrong (apart from me) and need to be able to put my case over in a reasoned way
TijuanaTaxiFree MemberBeen in touch with the union and they said pretty much the same thing
Ironically received a certificate last month for my 35 years service, hopefully long service might count for something
As you say more interested in getting the medical and mental bit sorted first though
Cheers again for the kind words
TijuanaTaxiFree MemberCheers for the good wishes TJ, they are disciplinary charges at work.
Just got too much,my bad bonce is covered under the DDA system and the company have I feel been very negligent.
Last time I went sick with this I had a return to work interview three months later. Apart from an OHS interview two years nobody has even asked how i’m getting onWill give the counselling a fair crack of the whip and hoping it will be of help.
TijuanaTaxiFree MemberI have been suffering very badly with Chronic Cluster Headaches and now on a high dose of steroids (60mg Prednisolone) to break them up a bit
Had a bad attack at work in a team meeting then lost it big time with everyone including the manager. Ripped a few people a new arsehole and tore the company to bits for good measureNow off sick and who knows what will happen when I return, been charged with abusive and threatening behaviour although I think it was because I seemed crazed due to the explosions in my nut
Doctor can’t treat the stress until the head has settled down a bit
Off to see a counsellor on Thursday, never seen anyone like that before and not sure what to expect. Will let you know if talking really does help, hope so
TijuanaTaxiFree Memberi dont think sky check anyway wether the line is in or not
They did with a friend of mine when he had a fault on his Sky installation. He unplugged it because he didn’t want a surface mounted box in his new abode and they insisted on it
Presumably its to gather info on your viewing habits?
TijuanaTaxiFree MemberAnyway, thanks for all the suggestions but found an extra socket behind one of the tv’s that had a lead into an older sky box, not sure who connected it but hey…
That would be SKY, apparently its part of their conditions that you are connected to the telephone network for the first 12 months of the contract.
Not the first time I have heard of this connection causing problemsTijuanaTaxiFree MemberThought about the butterfly thing along with sensor pen and mini vac gadget
Figured if it was fluid and pads for the shops and pro’s that was the right way to go
Does the job and can’t ask for more than that
TijuanaTaxiFree MemberMine seems to bring in more when its raining, last cat did too.
Seem to get quite a few soggy little rodents after a good downpour.Don’t like him catching all these little creatures, but can’t do much about it. Quite impressive as he is missing one of his back legs, trains for ages too with his catnip mouse
TijuanaTaxiFree MemberJust be glad its not live ones that escape in the house
If you do get them, humane trap baited with Peanut Butter has worked everytime for us
Could stick a collar with bell on the cat, might work
TijuanaTaxiFree MemberTrue, but the smell, manky grey undies and her numerous cats would mean that you would want to be out of the door ASAP
Nah, I quite like her, reckon she would scrub up alright and wouldn’t keep moaning when you went out on the bike or down the pub
TijuanaTaxiFree MemberBet Ruth would make a nice breakfast though, good old fry up and pot of tea, none of that croissants, cereal and coffee crap
That sort of thing is more important at my age than worrying if her barnet is shiny or not
TijuanaTaxiFree MemberNo idea whether he is a great guitarist, but enjoy the tunes which is what counts for me
Must say he isn’t a patch on Blackmore though
