Do we want a bit of tit for tat? EU should charge.

    Edit – ha ha.

That link doesn't work for me; how much will the charge be?

I rode on the road all through last winter but having fallen off 4 times in one ride – black ice – I am now more wary and will use the turbo and mtb more this winter.

Cover a multitude of sins so if you're trying to pick up someone wearing them be aware they're like a box of chocolates….

So you don't want to Ebay it? No-one cares what it cost you just what it costs now and condition.

I use a Lidl electric one – £50 IIRC. Maybe because it's not so powerful but never had a scare with it. Chopped down some trees in my garden and then to chop into logs. Got a 6lb splitting maul to complete the rugged guy image….

So if I was to see someone pointing a laser at a plane it is my duty to do what I can to stop it I suppose? What sort of force is OK? Or should I just ask politely?

Is it not to do with employers/employees getting things wrong rather than the IR? Maybe people who have more than one job or who've changed jobs.

That graph is talking about resolution but would you really want to sit 5.5ft away from a 42" screen? I've been to peoples' houses where they've had 50" of TV squeezed into the corner of a rather modest sitting room and they do sit about 6 or 7 feet away from it but the room looks rather odd IMO – don't know hoe comfortable it is to watch Noel's box game at that distance though.

How's this? Just put the hanger on seat clamp of your choice.

Use Tektro CR520s and all will be lovely. I think.

    Lion taming?

I'm in IT and think I'd like to try teaching but teachers don't seem too happy much of the time – so less pay just as unhappy?

The amount the employer takes is rental but it is treated like repayment of a loan so the employer has been repaid after 12 months. As a nice bonus they have also save on the employer NI assuming you do this as salary sacrifice. So any payment at the end of the hire period is a profit for the company.

IMO the whole scheme is a bit of a fudge in that for it to exist it makes use of existing legislation. The company stands to make money on this as far as I can see – saved Emp NI, etc.

My brain can't quite absorb the idea of a grown woman playing computer games.

It's because you are sexist, they like this sort of thing:

orena45 – you might not have been allowed it:

To qualify for Statutory Paternity Leave, you must have been with your employer for at least 26 weeks by the end of the 15th week before the start of the week when the baby is due.

You must give your employer notice in, or before, the 15th week before the week the child is due.

Or get Government assisted places at top schools – lucky me.

    I got 2 weeks full pay – rode a lot….

I could have missed out though as you're supposed to tell your employer about 3 months before the due date and I hadn't noticed that so was a few weeks late, fortunately they didn't mind.

I was punched by a bus driver on the 210 bus in N.London when I was 12; he charged me 20p instead of the usual 10p and hit me when I complained.

I suppose if your 1st experiences of them was live and they came across well then that might set up a deeper interest. IIRC they used to play in peoples' houses for anyone that wanted to come without any planning. Interesting but not sure that's enough to be a fan of their recorded stuff.

He's also a junkie waster, who will probably die too young.

I've somehow managed to miss what's good about them – other than their image if you like that sort of thing. I'm probably too old.

I lived in Chester and also a Cheshire village and that didn't feel like the North – also lived in Sheffield and Hull which did. I've been to Harrogate, quite nice, why is everywhere else up there mostly a lot cheaper? Do many people there commute for long distances?

I liked living in London when I was younger and now find Surrey a pleasant place to be but would be happy in Cheshire (not Chester though).

oh and, when they get up there, it's a 100mtr stretch of river, then they can go no further

I've seen a few cycle lanes like that….

So are there signs to let the dormice know to use the bridge and not just leg it across the road? It's a lot of effort to climb up that. Can other rodents use it?

Sounds like he's well aware of the measurements, he just thinks he's more important.

Well maybe but work together on it I say – get a neighbouring allotment holder to join in too.

Now that would amuse me if an interviewer called an interviewee that whilst discussing salary expectations.

I'd definitely try to get him to work with you to measure together – find out what the measurements should be and see what he thinks the measurements should be.

Maybe he genuinely believes that the fence is in the correct place? Have you measured to be sure? Maybe measure with him to try and agree? If you win and make him feel he's lost out he could seek revenge; win-win it's the only way!

mamas and papas is where its at

Ha! I've been wondering how snobbish people get with their buggies.

We got an older Quinny Freestyle offroad 3 in 1 thing off Ebay for £80 and it's been brilliant.

Tried talking, he won't listen and has basically said that he's got more right to be there than me!

So he admits he's taking over your land but thinks he's OK to do that?

Is he willing to discuss this with you and the council? If he thinks he's right then he should be able to get the council to agree? Maybe rent him some of your patch in return for 1/2 the veg. Or just take it then prove it's on your land.

There's an awful lot of poor Chinese people to keep unskilled salaries down but of course the unions won't allow that. Fair enough but I wonder how things will work out there as the better off get richer and the poor continue to scrape a living.

I'm sure concrete is best but the posts with spikes are salvaged for use in my chicken pen look like they'd be pretty immoveable once embedded properly – how to bang them in though? To use mine I cut most of the spike off.

    very subtle willy-wave there WC

What's the salary level at which willy-waving is warranted?

Maybe soon for some it'll just be having a job….bloomin' Tories ;)

if someone is on a £75k salary, why aren't they running their own business instead, earning more and paying less tax?

That doesn't really make sense to me – depends on the business they're in?

I wonder if they have someone to ask advice from or are comfortable in doing so. Do they know many people here?
