Now Junkyard that is just bad grammar!

Whilst I am against bringing in a tax reduction of that nature at the moment I think it's fair to say the 'rich' are currently paying more inheritance tax than is usual so taking away some of the tax just puts them into the same situation as most of us. Of course is the beneficiaries of these dead people that benefit and they might not be so rich.

IMO inheritance tax should be based on the recipient so that if one person inherits the lot then much tax is paid but if it's spread about then less is paid – kinda like capital gains tax or income tax.

    Junkyard – thanks for that.

Where are the jobs? How do the Tories propose to create the 2 million or so jobs that are needed?

How does anyone? If there are no jobs to take then I don't think anyone's going to lose their benefit.

Short-term gain at the expense of long-term forethought. That's the Tory way.

Shame it happened under a Labour Government.

Well you are rich then allthepies

Well of course most of us are when talking globally but 'rich' doesn't really mean much as it hasn't got a simple definition.

I think the idea of a millionaire has defined what rich is to most over the years though I don't think a millionaire is necessarily deemed rich these days if talking about all assets – I mean he'll still have to work for a living which wasn't the case years ago when a million was serious wodge.

Talkemada – all the parties want to get the unemployed working and are talking about withholding benefits from those that won't take employement when offered. As far as this country being fekked well no it isn't but some serious cash flow problems need to be sorted and they are all talking about reducing the gap between income and expenditure by around £50bn which means huge changes to the services people get now – tax will go up but not by anywhere near enough to keep services close to where they are.

So atp might not be in the top 3% of alive people – what are the bands?

But he's already says he doesn't like any of the parties therefore the Tories don't give him what he wants – he thinks Labour him the worst option though so the best you can say is that is why you should vote Labour rather than note vote Tory.

I'm with Mikey65 – though I got the Elite RealAxiom. I couldn't imagine I would be able to keep using a normal turbo but so far am using the RealAxiom no problem. I have DVDs of real climbs and get all sorts of stats out of a session. I did find a 2nd hand a few months ago so saved money but now I wish I'd just bought a new one before lost winter as I'd be fitter now.

    Top 3% pay inheritance tax

Hmmm well when my Gran died she did so she was in the top 3% of wealthy people? She didn't look rich and her house wasn't that great either – a bungalow in Derbyshire.

I don't think this is the time to talk about cutting taxes like that though.

Who ever gets into power is going to have to cut spending significantly as we were over spending even before the current problems.

This shows that the Lib Dems won't come 2nd in terms of seat numbers even if they do get the 2nd highest number of votes. Interestingly, if you put 33.3% to each main party Labour gets more seats than the other two put together!

My parents just told me that the extension they did hasn't got building regs approval so I'll need to get indemnity insurance when they die and I want to sell – they paid a manager to look after everything who ended up ripping them off.

When I sold my last house was told I needed to get indemnity insurance to cover the fact that my garden might be contaminated as there used to be a battery factory nearby. As no neighbours had heard of there being a potential problem and the factory had been replaced by nice flats I said no thanks so the buyer paid the £600 in the end.

I also didn't have a certificate for my extension on the house as the council sent it to the architect who then didn't send to me and I forgot about it. The council sent me a nice letter saying all OK and that was that.

Except that the Tories want it to be everyone else eating bread and dripping whilst they carry on with their luxurious lifestyle paid by shares in bakeries and abattoirs.

Apart from the inheritance tax changes, which is supposed to be an attempt to change it back to something for the very richest as it used to be, I think the Tories are being pretty even handed really in their proposals. Do think they should put back the inheritance tax changes as now is not the time.

According to the BBC on current figures Labour would still have the most seats.

    Recent poles here:
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/election_2010/8280050.stm

So we get 34% Con, 29% Lab, 28% LD

    Put those figures in here:

I took a lot of stuff from skips a while back when building my chicken house and pen – mainly old timber. I always asked first, as thought it polite, but one time I had asked one of the builders who said OK but the owner came out and started ranting. Once I managed to let her know that I had asked she was OK about it but guess she told off the builders as the next time I went around they started calling me a gypo….
