They should have more of the disabled carriages when needed on the commuting trains. Seems straight forward to make a note of amount of regular cycles on a given route and accomodate them… or is that far too simplistic?

    That sounds very expensive.

yes you need permission to cut a tree down even if it is on your land.

Only in a protected area – I chopped several of mine down anyway….

I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Except Thatcher – well many on here would support than anyway….

Can't quite see what his problem with the tree was really – any idea?

Slight problem with Labour/Libdem is that they'd need to get other minor parties to join in too. I can't see that anyone can give more on the PR thing than offering referendum.

leylandii – IMO cutting your nose of to spite your face unfortunately. I'd far rather have a fence than my leylandii hedge as it take so much looking after.

Ask around, someone should have seen/heard a chainsaw being used.

Chainsaw?! A decent penknife saw would get through that.

    the world economy implode

Whilst that is true we were over spending so now times aren't so good the budget deficit is horrendous and pain will follow.

I only eat cereal at home but at hotel buffets I eat everything – if I work away from home for too long then I have to watch that.

In Hull years ago we could play in the day time for as long as we wanted for £5. We used to leave very limp-wristed but did get some OK scores – over 190 anyway. Was asked to join the Uni bowling team when I played with the captain but he scored over 250 when I played him so thought I wasn't that good – I noticed the good players have their own balls and span them in a lot.

I wonder if the Church Commissioners would ever try to get money for this or if it's not their responsibility – they are obliged to do what's best for the church financially.

So all home owners are Tory? Fantastic! Are all renters Labour? You could have some fun ripping them apart but then you have to work with them; I think you must work with a different sort of person to me.

I managed to transfer money into the wrong building society a/c once online (Barclays) once but noticed straight away and contacted the bank who reversed the transaction immediately.

Is the problem the Tories or Dave? What leader would result in those here that have been so strongly opposed to the Tories being more supportive? Or was the damage done in the 80s so bad that you could never vote for them?

It's such a shame that the Scots feel that way about the English given we saved them after they screwed themselves with the Darien scheme.

64% of voters don't want Cameron.

Who are the most popular potential Tory leaders?

I see little negativity towards the Scots in the South – other than created by Scots who've come down here who seem to enjoy slagging off the English.

It really is a fairly pathetic showing by the Tories

Well going by what I read here a lot of people are more interested in their hatred of what happened in the 80s than Labour's recent record so the Tories have got a lot to battle against.

If they had won outright there'd just be more hatred as they attempted to sort out the deficit – Labour were over-spending so we were living in an unsustainable society and no we have to pay.

Not the selfish thing again…having a baby is most certainly not selfish in the sense that you have to give up a lot of freedom. Perhaps it is if you can't afford to support it though and expect the state to cover you – I mean in the sense of being responsible for your actions.

OTOH selfish people shouldn't have babies for obvious reasons.

As for a couple having kids – I don't agree it's the woman's decision as it's a joint thing. I couldn't terminate a healthy baby but then I probably wouldn't be with a woman who could.

uplink – it seems you don't like the wording but the point is clear. Check out this site:

Put each of the 3 main parties on 1/3 of the votes and see if you think that's fair. IMO PR isn't really the issue here it's the constituency boundaries/sizes.

uplink – the constituencies suit labour more than the tories.

Interestingly the seats have changed now so that the hung parliament in '74 would now be a Labour victory and the '92 Tory victory would now be a hung parliament.

Just like in The Real World, where their voice in running the country is disproportionate to their support base.

Really? As they need more votes per seat than Labour I'd say thay Labour have a disproportionate voice.

The driver is obviously one of those misunderstood types:

The court heard he threatened to "smash" a customer with a three-foot steel water key, after his standard of work was questioned.

When I've looked at posting with Royal Mail it seems that you have to have a receipt for the posted item in order to claim – is that the reality? I've got put off using them as I usually send older things that I have no receipt for.

    Inheritance tax/dual tax

Trouble is it's a tax on doing nothing more than living a life then dying. It used to be for the rich now it's the top 3% apparently – well maybe they're still rich people but there's more now?

I mentioned up there somewhere that I think inheritance tax would be better as one on the recipient rather than the dead person, (same as CGT maybe) so that it might get spread around a bit more.

    tiger_roach

It's a tax on tax for richer dead people; not sure if that's fair but that's what it is.
