Labour put so much effort into this! Initially was supposed to include a survey but eventually conceded this was impractical and a waste of cash but couldn't bring themselves to scrap the whole thing. Energy certificate sounds sensible though IME it's often just stating the rather obvious.

Fixing you rate is like gambling in a casino. The house always wins.

Yes but that depends on your attitude to risk – occasionally you lose big time by not fixing and the results can be destructive. I have never fixed though as the likelihood of me not being able to deal with interest rate rises is low I think; so far worked out well for me over the last 14 years.

Printing money increases inflation, not sure we want more inflationary pressures now – interest rates could get nasty.

I've always been a fan of VAT over income tax; easy to administer and hard to avoid paying. Combine that with a nice big personal allowance before income tax kicks in as seems likely things look sensible to me. Though it's all us middle income people who'll end up paying the most I'm sure.

BoE interest rates need to rise – or will that just send us back into recession? Argh… But then gain debt is being reduced by all this inflation so that's something.

I have several friends who are in their 30s, single, lovely, and not bonkers – that pick 2 thing is nonsense.

Well my wife was all 3 before I married her (IMO!) but now is none…did I ruin her?

What do you think about the Touran? I don't really need a big car but got a kid coming and think I could get the bike, baby and all related gear inside OK. They're not long cars I think – similar to a Focus?

What a lovely company – charging £500 to be helpful. Surely the money isn't there's and they have to return it or they are breaking the law?

She just wants more FB friends cos who has the most wins.

I once sent a FB message to a mgr I'd done some work for saying I was interested in a permanent role she had – she ignored my message other than that she sent me a friend invitation. Odd I thought.

I've gone from 12.4 to 11.8 but stayed at this level for months now. My fat scales say I'm at 14% which seems a sensible level but 11 stone seems a good riding weight for my 5'11" so want to get that.

When I moved from a nice part of Surrey to a not so nice part of London when I was 12 I thought if I went to a local comp I wouldn't survive; I was most happy I got into the public school I managed to get into – even though they had Saturday school!

but more that they haven't got ponies, ski holidays, homes in the algarve etc. feeling different isn't a great feeling when you're a child.

Rubbish! I went to 3 (fairly expensive) fee paying schools on an assisted place – my family never had/did those things and no-one cared indeed most didn't. Maybe if we're talking about one of the £30k schools though?

One of my colleagues has put no1 child into private school, but can't afford to put no2 child

Not sure if this is worse but one of my mates at my last fee paying school was the only one from his family to go – the girls had to make do with the local comp – was it because they were girls?!

So they knew that he'd punched you? Not sure what I would have done in your situation – I think I may have reacted physically if I thought another punch coming but depends on how much of a threat he seemed. I'd assume either drunk of mentally ill so probably just keep my distance.

Go back and ask the shop people about him.

It's not all about education though.

I've ended up living 5 miles from my old Prep school and it really is a fantastic place – an old Manor House with incredible grounds and sporting facilities. Not sure it's worth the cost but still.

How did you feel about the fact your education cost a lot more than most people? Proud, superior, ashamed?

As the tax payer paid for mine (thanks everyone) I am very grateful…. I feel something but not sure what – something to do with the history and tradition of the schools that I wouldn't have from a comprehensive I imagine.

The thing is my family have got poorer over recent generations, my Grandfather was the 1st to go to Harrow instead of Eaton (advised as he was an unwell child apparently) and my Dad went to Dover College for some odd reason as was nowhere near home. I was the 1st day boy though I went to schools with boarders though they don't have boarders these days nor Saturday school and even accept girls – crazy days…!

I got warned by Ebay for using sniping software in April

Yeah shouldn't do it in April….

I'm surprised as they have an API for sniping – well maybe it's not meant for that?

cuts is a political decision and not needed. Tax could be increased instead. Growth will reduce the debt.

I think this would some serious tax rises – any suggestions on what might cover this?

Well it won't be fun but can't carry on with this overspending so not too many options.
