This happened to a mate – the irony was that he was riding a stolen bike.

What are the key reasons for you thinking this way?

He used to come into Chester McDonald's when I worked there.

my college electrical lecturer advised not to live within 50m of a substation, particularly if you had children.

Well children would be useful in this situation if there might be a problem – kinda like taking canaries when mining.

Are they independent and solely on commission?

Back when we first could switch energy providers some of these guys were caught forging switching docs for people. I had one that said if you sign here it means you're interested in getting more info but it was the switching doc.

Dunno, maybe the Tories think the BBC purposefully put on an aggressive lefty in order to cause them damage and they decided they didn't need to play that game?

I can get 4 10kg plates on each dumbell – well I could if I had that many plates and could use it….

Yeah I've seen a few on my freecycle but I really like my Decathlon ones and have a bench too. Their 52kg set is good value at £60.

Super glue is always the answer.

I broke a big toe nail which kinda stayed hanging on and the nail grew back underneath; didn't even think of seeing a doctor.

STW speed date is the only way. Get a few off here that are interested – 30? – then give each one 5 mins to prove their worth. So it's skids and wheelies time….

Hoping to be mortgage free by the time i am 45.

I cleared mine last year – nice to know that I only have household bills to worry about – got a baby due soon so good timing I suppose.

Breifcases: when I started work in an office 15 years ago I assumed I needed one – can't think that I've used it. Never really needed to take anything home until I got a laptop so now I have to carry that about. Possibly that make me a laptop w@nker?

I live in the Surrey Hills area – love it but worry what it will be like in a decade with all the development that's planned. Is it really better for the UK to have more people living in the SE?

it has to be primarily about household income.

Well I'd go for assets over income.

Then there are degrees of upper class:

    1- inherited family land/property
    2- inherited family furniture

We need people to have kids

As long as they're nice middle class ones though…?!

    No I don't but that's fine too.

Language is part of it. It doesn't matter how rich you are, if you use a toilet rather than a loo then you'll never be upper class.

If the money's saved it's gone as far as the govt is concerned.

Well it is available to be lent out in return for interest which increases the lender's profitability and results in more tax paid. The the borrower spends it on something – investment in a business maybe or goods which results in tax in the short or longer-term plus the economy as a whole is helped.

Not sure how it happened but my 3 year old nephew likes watching the 'The f*ckstones'.

Given the amount of food my wife is stuffing into herself as we enter the last few weeks before the ETA of something small and screamy I think that a bit of extra cash for the less well off for food is a good idea. Possibly vouchers for veg and fruit might help how it's spent by some though?

Well I don't think he's made money at the expense of others so I don't think there's any irony there – he's not a commie….

As for the film – I suppose most missed it but one thing that wound me up is the idea that Goldman Sacks have a significant impact on how the US is run – more investigation needed.

The worst thing though was those kids being locked away for months on minor charges – that is the sign of a truly f*cked up society.

Did they make it up as they went along or was the whole thing planned out from the beginning?

I was unsure if there is a problem with companies taking out life insurance on their employees as thought it makes sense if you lose an important employee to get some compensation to cover the financial loss to the company. However, it did seem to be being used as an investment vehicle as documents referred to the expected returns and the insurance paid out was far more than would be needed to compensate for the 'dead peasants' as they were referred to. The main thing was that it was distasteful I think – poor people wondering how they'll be able to cope now that the family's bread winner has gone whilst the employee benefits by a 7 figure sum. It is of course illegal to insure an asset that isn't yours as you have an interest in the insurance paying out so why are people different?

Hmmmm, can't see it improving – well it might get more profitable (benefiting someone else) but will the service improve?

I watched it consistently until Virgin lost Sky 1. I watched it for longer than it was enjoyable to me – I suppose I'd invested so much time I felt needed to continue; was a relief when I was forced to stop really.

I recorded it and have just finished watching – was on channel 4 last night IIRC.

It's really about how f*cked up the US is – I thought pretty bad but I see I really had no idea – I thought the $700bn bail out was probably a good thing but seems I was wrong. So capitalism with little to keep it in check is a bad thing for sure but how far along the road to socialism do we need to be to get the right balance?

Also watched Have I got new for you with Peston – yep we're gonna be in for some real pain.

I've taken my bike into Evans stores without noticing any raised eyebrows. Unless there was obviously a lack of space I'd take my business elsewhere if asked not to bring my bike in.

    This is all brilliant!

OK, I have chickens but they're protected; but a fox crushed a strawberry plant so now it's war again. I'm thinking maybe build a fence around the patch though….

BTW, Zulu-Eleven I am in the SE if you fancy a go?!

It's incredible how some people are. Whilst most would just give it back as no hassle I see that some would try it on for the whole lot but holding back £1k? Crazy. If wanting to hold back some due to hassle involved then a sensible amount – £50?

I've taken my bike around various supermarkets and DIY stores – figure a trolley is more of an inconvenience than a bike; never had a problem other than the occasional tut from someone who thinks it just isn't the done thing – like some above it seems…. However in that bike loving place that is France I was told to keep it outside every time.

How hard you work is relative right?

I mean a manual labourer might not be so fit and strong but be working at his limit each day but still under performing when compared to someone else stronger.

On the other hand a desk worker might work 10 hours doing the best he can but still not produce the results that his uncommonly bright colleague can do in less hours whilst also spending time arguing on STW?

So how much do we reward the subjective effort put in or do we should we just care about the output?

    tiger_roach

    Possibly that might help employment….
