Patriotpro- those are the ones I’m looking at, I take it you got good results with them?

Andy- they are single release, and only a few months old, although I have noticed a lot more movement when clipped in.

Scott, they do look like false widow spiders. I work for southern water and we’ve had H&S posters put around because a few employees have been bitten when disturbing them accidentally.
Just be careful with the kids, I live in Chichester and found my 3 year old trying to play with one the other day, the little buggers are popping up everywhere!

I have an alloy 2011 covert and I flipping love it. As gorgeous as the carbon one is, I don’t think I could justify selling vital organs for it, especially as mine was an ex demo frame at a ridiculous can’t-say-no price!

Are there any stores on the south coast? Southampton/Portsmouth/Brighton area.

We are here for the 24hr just for fun. Last night was interesting camping, but we’ve got the mud tyres on, beers out, the BBQ is ready again for later, and we are just gonna enjoy the weekend away from home.
Good luck to all those joining us at newnham, and if you see a guy on an orange covert with fox 36’s, don’t heckle him for pushing up cliff climb!

One very valid point made earlier and now seemingly overlooked is, if you’re riding in the area and find a bit of debris on the trail, take 5mins to get off your bike a move a bit. 1 persons work may seem fruitless but if we all do it, the trail will be back in no time, and possibly more importantly, not moved to another line, thus creating teh erosion debate.
I’ve been on a fair few FotH volunteer dig days and it’s a stunning number of riders who congratulate for the hard work and state they’ll be back to help out next time, never to be seen again.
Legality aside, FotH and Hurtwood Trails do try to maintain the trail that started this post.

All the smaller debris I did stop and clear, but these logs I refer to were about 2mtrs long, and 500mm across, so I had no chance of moving them.
I know realise how single minded my comments may have been, and I’m hoping that not only the trails, but also the access kindly given to us continues.

I totally understand the private land thing, and I’ve never taken any trails for granted wherever they are. Like I said, I was unsure of the legality of the trails around peaslake.
Definately should of just kept my thoughts to myself this time…… 😳

Hi mate! No go pro, but managed a 57 sec run on Strava. Not up to your level, but still working on it! There’s some fast times on that leader board!

I knew I was gonna cop some grief, what I meant was with 5 mins work in their machines, the trail would have been free to pass. Obviously the trails count for a tiny bit of the forest, and yes I admit criminal was a bit strong, and I should of chosen a better word.

For the record, I’m not a coil hater, I love how they ride. I had 32 vans before the revs on my BLT, and some legendary coil pike teams back in the day. Trouble is, the tranny needs a diet, not more pies!

I’m having exactly the same issues with my 2011 covert! I think a trip to TFT to get it push’d is on the cards. Never had this issue with my old HV rp23. New one sounds like s**t too! Gonna speak to surf sales to see if they can help….

I’ve gone from 710 nukeproofs up to 720 fatbars, they were at 740 but bit wide for normal trail riding. Few brown pant moments when making like a Jedi through the trees! Pretty perfect now I’d say, but as previously said, start wide and you can always trim them down if needed.

not quite what I meant, but thanks anyway. What I’m trying to do is stop the post extending so far, mainly to increase the overlap as its a bit flexy at full extension. I’ve got plenty left in the frame so can afford to loose 20-30mm off the extension.

Cheers LoCo, I’ve got the service kit which included the lower bushing, but the top bushing is part of the silver nut that houses the wiper seal and foam ring. Need it by Friday as we have a trip to whites level planned!

Warranty is all well an good but if you’re sending your forks back all the time that’s not much fun eh. Valuable riding time wasted.

15hours?? That’s almost every week! I did try everything with the revelations, but in the end I lost patience and sold them on. Back to the simplicity of coil!

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been a life long rockshox user, and the vanillas aren’t a match on my old pike teams, but obviously a lot lighter! My revelation teams had no small bump sensitivity though.
So essentially, I have to replace the uppers and just wait for it to happen again?

Both will fit, although the high clamp version does come very close to the strut on the l/h chainstay, also the cable angle coming from the cable stop to mech is all wrong on a high clamp, works but not great. Low clamp top pull is what you need ideally, even though it does add another flat area for the mud to collect, along with the bottom suspension vpp link!!!

+1 for the top of rock! We did it at night and it was awesome seeing Chrysler and empire state all lit up! Awesome picture opportunity! Tbh all we did was just walk around and take in the attractions as we came across them. NYC is truly amazing and I cant wait until my little one is big enough so i can go again even though I’ve done it twice. Shopping is good, although the prices aren’t as great as they used to be, food available anywhere, cheap and insanely reliable transport on the underground, the market stalls in battery park, and just so much to take in as you wander. If you want to do the empire state, buy the tickets online, print them out before you leave uk and not only are they cheaper than on the door, but you also breeze past all the queues and straight into the elevator to the top! Enjoy!

Sorry to jump on the anti 2010 revelation bandwagon, but I just wondered if loco had any idea why my rev team dual air would have crap small bump sensitivity? Lovely and plush on big hits, but almost feel locked out on the smaller stuff. I’ve messed around with air pressures, but even running so much neg they start to pull down doesn’t seem to make them any better. I miss my 2009 revs with motion control, I thought blackbox dampers where supposed to be the best!
The 2-step damper option sounds interesting? Is it a retrofit that’s available?

I’ve got a 2002 wrx ppp and agree with all the comments above. Fast as hell (mine is remapped and running p1 turbo and lots of prodrive bits), relatively economical if driven gently, but thirsty if shown open roads for ‘spirited’ driving, very reliable, cheapish interior although I have the blue sti interior so looks lovely, large boot although the back seat doesn’t fold on the newage saloons so getting bike in the boot is a no-no without surgery!
I’m having to put mine up for sale soon due to company vehicle, but it’s gonna be the hardest goodbye ever as I love every minute in it!!!!

QE country park is only a few miles from there, just outside petersfield. My regular after work haunt although it gets busy with walkers at the weekend, best get in early.

I’ve had both, the lynskey original and now the carbon one. I’d say there isn’t a huge amount of difference other than price.

Great weekend, have to admit to not being overly impressed with the course at first, but once I got to know it I was loving it. Too many people, myself included, were comparing it to the last 3 years and not giving it a chance. Yes having that brutal climb on cold legs straight out the arena was a bit pants, but ending on cottage and bursting into the arena on a high was amazing! I was running a 2.35 supertacky high roller up front, hard work but it made the roots and slippery rocks on the moors a doddle! One guy even abused me as I took the tighter line across the roots on a corner whilst he struggled with his silly race bike tyres! The 29ers seemed to be true kings on the course, every one I saw (there were a lot) seemed to just float around the course! I’m hoping the course stays similar next year, if it’s dry it’ll be amazing! We came 3rd in the 24hr just for fun team event, which was amazing as we are just a bunch of Sunday riders, but I guess that’s what JFF is all about!
Does anyone know when snapperchick will be posting up the pics, and if anyone else took pics??

Singletrack is a great mag, but gear and reviews seem a but aimed at their location. Not all of us are blessed with living oop north. Mbuk is good, but a bit too baggy-jeans-and-piss-pot for me sometimes, mbr is a steady ok, but it’s what mountain bike that gets my monthly subscription year after year.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to put more hours in the saddle, but with a young family and a very demanding job, I’m lucky to get out at all! Not all of us can ‘just get out and ride’ whenever we feel, but it doesn’t mean I’m any less passionate about riding than anyone else. My point is that my performance is getting worse in recent month or so, I’d expected it to stay at a constant level. I know riding more will make me fitter obviously, but why am I not getting around at the same pace as usual. I feel well, and other than hayfever I’m not in any way poorly. I do struggle bait with my breathing when hayfever is really bad, but I’m not asthmatic.
I am a sweaty monkey, absolutely pours off me even in the old days when I was really fit and racing juniors, so maybe the potassium comment is worth looking into.

Slight thread hijack, but I’m looking at getting an 03-04 seat Ibiza cupra tdi which I believe has the 150bhp vw diesel lump, does the jabbasport remap work on these engines too, or are they pushed as far as they’ll go already? Also does it destroy the possibility of drivingbit economically on days when I want to be sensible? I’m selling my prodrive impreza so looking forward to more than low 20’s for mpg!!!

I’ve been riding 456’s since the original baby blue steel one. Now I’ve got the lynskey ti one, and a carbon one as my current bike. The ability to run a dropper post on the carbon is great, and I run 150mm revelation teams, with sensible kit and it still weighs under 25lb! My mate has a ragley mmmbop and he actually dropped his revelations to 130mm as the head angle was soooooooo slack. Even now it feels like a chopper to me when I ride it.
The head angle on the 456 is pretty much spot on IMHO. Slack, but still precise. Don’t forget the ti456 was the first 10/10 frame in most mags, and the geometry is the same on the carbon. Brant got it bang on first time.
Before any ragley fans come looking for my blood, I’m selling my ti frame to help fund the new ragley fs when it comes out. Slack playbike porn!!!!!

Well I changed to the middle to big clicks on the shifter, and spent a while setting up the limit screws, and it’s definately a lot better. Looking at the shape of the cage, I’m wondering if it’s worth trying to get a SRAM 2 x 10 specific front mech?

I’ve used the first 2 positions, as I’ve you were shifting between granny and middle.
Judging by the state of my legs after the first ride, I’ve still got a lot to learn about using the gear ratios better, although I did manage a shitty climb that normally I granny up. I guess it’s like singlespeed, it’s amazing what you can climb rather than endure the shame of walking!!

My carbon 456 frame turned up mega quick, i ordered it on the bank holiday Monday evening, and it was with me Wednesday morning!
I’ve had the steel, titanium, and now the plastic one, and I still love it them to bits.

b r, yeah I’ve got an 18″ ti456 (well at the moment it’s a carbon456 as the ti is back with lynskey due to a cracked weld) and if I strip all the wheels and post out, it does go on the back seat, just!! Trouble is, it has a blue alcantara on the seats and door panels, and light grey plastics and headlining! The car was bought from a real enthusiast and is absolutely mint inside and out. Bike on back seat was fine on my old 200sx cos it was all black leather, but the few times I’ve put the bike in the imprezza, I’ve ended up damaging or staining something in there no matter how many blankets I use, and thats just in the dry. Reading back through the posts, I just wanted to add that I’m not just selling the scoob because of the bike fit problem, it’s also because it’s too nice to have sitting there doing nothing. I need something that can sit around doing nothing without it costing me a fortune, but also ready to easily throw a bike or 2 in.
