    Decathlon chest light

I just bought one of these, far more comfortable than a head torch but a bit “Ironman” if that bothers you!

If she is a doc, hasn’t the Surgeons Hall museum just opened after a major refurbishment?

I’d suggest a direct drive model, saves on peculiar tyre wear, much quiter and feels more “natural”. I picked up an Elite Turbo Muin for about £300 which has been hammered for about 18 months now, far better than anything I’d used previously.

Turboing is shite btw. People try and hide this fact, don’t believe them, it’s exactly like biking with absolutely none of the good bits and tons of extra bad bits. If you don’t hate it, you’re a pervert. But it does the job.

    +1!

5ft9, and on a medium Thumper with a 50mm stem, which feels spot on.

Where about are you based OP?

For me its always been an Mazda RX-7, going up in price now but will definitely have one at some point.

Cheers, give me a shout if you’re up Innerleithen/Glentress direction, would be interested to try it.

Has it raised the BB with the 200×57 shock and the offset bushings? Thought they may cancel out some of that extra length?

Nope, not got a compatible 650b rear to try yet.

Hoping it would work with a 29″ rear, I’m planning to build up a set of light bicycle carbon wheels at some point soon and would like to know my options before I decide on rim size.

I’ve been keeping an eye out for a cheap shock too, glad you got one and will be interested to hear the verdict!

That was my thoughts, reckon it would boost travel to about 148mm from 130. Thumper was great in the alps this year, but I did notice a difference going from a Mega with CCDB coil last time to the Thumper with CCDB inline this time, in that I did feel more beat up by the end of the day.

Either that or I’m getting too old!!!

Would be interested in this experiment as a fellow Thumper owner.

Had considered trying a 200×57 which wouldn’t affect the static geometry too much, especially if paired with offset shock bushings. I think I’d get away with it in 29 flavour, but suspect the 216×63 might be pushing it too far without a 650b rear though.

Another BT40s full package ordered, probably not strictly necessary but seems like a no brainer at that price.

    1. I’d like to have the ability to sense accurate delivery information, knowing the exact time the delivery will arrive within its 7am to 9pm window.
Would also be good to sense it when considering ordering, so I could order something knowing if it would arrive in time!

    2. Other option is “The Teflon MTBer”, mud/dirt doesn’t stick to me or the bike, no cleaning required!

    Countersteering

Countersteering? Not intuitive, but good on a longer bike such as 29er FS

I always stick it in my Evoc bike bag, not had a problem yet.

    Maybe wasn’t his fault?

For example, if it was a 29er in that bag everyone knows they roll over anything

I’m now also looking for a set of these bearings, SRAM Tech have sent me to the LBS who have contacted Fisher Outdoor, who have advised they “might” have some but they might already all be accounted for.

    Any suggestions?

Apart from trying to get bearings, I was loving the hubs but now starting to get a bit fed up after having a perfectly good bike sidelined by these unobtainable bearings :(

Happy for you to drop me an e-mail to chuck a leg over it when you’ll be around, only thing to mention is I’m in the Alps from 22nd June so might clash.

NorthCountryBoy – As a matter of interest, I’m 5ft9 and on a 16″, and also in the Peebles area if you want to sling a leg over it for sizing.

Nope, love mine and gets ridden far more than any other bike I own. Bought as the closest thing I could find to a Ti 456 in 29er flavour, and it’s far better than I could have hoped for.

Large thread already on here about them.

Echoing comments above, I’ve got a Conti 2.4 MK2, which is pretty much the same size as the TK/RQ 2.2

    Not tried anything bigger.

Not that bothered about the first two stages, so pleased with the remaining six.

Hopefully the trails won’t be entirely battered by Monday. Don’t think I’ll need to bother changing the Magic Mary’s based on the forecast, although they’ll be a pain to haul round 50km.

I’ve booked a spot, looking forward to trying out as many of the the taped stages in one day as possible.

Assuming we’ll be able to do them in any order?

Superstar kevlar in my 785s, nice balance of actually working and reasonable life.

Edit : Probably plus two technically since I run them on two bikes with 785’s. Just ordered them for the DH with Zee’s but not fitted them yet.

I built a thumper for about £1700, using some exisiting parts etc right enough.

Wasn’t trying to stick to a budget, but would think it was possible without too many comprimises. Have you got anything you could put towards it already?

Also went with the -1 angleset from new, and 150mm Pike.

Got the -1.5 cup too, but never bothered trying yet.

Ben the SNP are clever with their language, they speak of Wesminster mismanagement and elite’s, they speak of despising the Tories. To those listening it’s anti English

When Salmond talks he speaks not of the SNP lion roaring but of Scotland, the inference is very clear that when he speaks of Westminster and the Tories he is speaking of England.

Drivel. It’s interesting that you interpret it as such, but drivel never the less.

As others have pointed out this has nothing to do with anti English or anti any other member of the Union.

The SNP are obviously campaigning for Scotland only (clue is in the S in SNP), however its not a case of campaigning for powers at the expense of the rest of the Union. Instead hopefully all the members including England will have the opportunity to benefit from increased local powers.

From tomorrow you could be under scrutiny, so if I were you I’d be out there doing whatever you don’t want to get caught doing for the next 5 years just in case!

Good Luck, wish I had a STW’er to vote for

Got a CAADx with two different wheelsets for the above reason, maybe I’ve been lucky but different hubs and matched cassettes have resulted in no problems yet and makes a very quick change between road/knobbly wheelsets.

Aye, always tougher than I remembered but a great day out never the less.

3hrs 44min for the 50km, and managed to get a bonus prize for the muckiest rider in (at that point) when I handed my dibber in :D

Signed up for the 50k, more to compare my fitness against this time last year than too avoid the 75km option. Will definitely be doing the 75km next year though.

Looking forward to it, hoping this sunshine and breeze will dry it out a bit from the rain and snow we’ve had over the last few days.

Will be on my Fireline, its been cleaned, lubed, and is ready for tomorrow. Almost seems a shame, feel like I spent the next couple of weeks after last year trying to get rid of the muck which seemed to have penetrated every moving part there was!

According to the thread on mtbr (here), it will take a 26 x 4″ floater.

How different is the geometry to the “normal” fatty?

People who use the word literally incorrectly….and frequently.

    +1

Recently was in a meeting with a fairly senior manager telling everyone present that when he got the email, he “literally crapped himself”.
Cue another politely saying, “I’m sure you don’t mean that literally.”
“No, no, honestly, I crapped my pants….”

There is no helping some people.

Another who cancelled my Dirt sub last year, couldn’t bear to read another bike review based on a size L not being large enough, or a size XL which was actually more of a L compared to other brands, or worst of all, bikes with no XL size option 8O 8O 8O

Did some great articles on suspension design a few years ago, but will miss the Dirt 100 most of all. (STW 100???)
