I’m still riding the wave of smugness from passing a Range Rover stuck in two inches of snow on a slight gradient three years ago.

I have to say that I really struggle to believe that is the full truth – yes I 100% agree that tyres make all the difference (having been a one-time off-road 4×4 enthusiast and having seen many modern 4x4s truly stuck in the mud at the Tong off-road track) but a Range Rover stuck in a little bit of snow on a slight gradient – I don’t swallow that.

I totally buy it, witnessed a lady abandoning a Range Rover in similar conditions in Edinburgh, she clearly wasn’t happy and was panicking. I’ve no doubt the issue was the driver, not the vehicle.

We opted for a Gaggia Brera direct from the UK distributer, seem to recall it was about £350 with a 3 year warranty included.
The panarello stream wand attachment can be removed, leaving you with a single hole stream wand which is easy to clean but does require you to manually froth your own milk.
I normally drink coffee without milk, but my Mrs uses the steam wand all the time.
It’s a work horse, used daily for at least 5 coffees, sometimes double that. It’s easy to clean, easy to use, and produces espressos that are probably a 8/10 compared to the faff of our La Pavoni manual lever coffee machine in a fraction of the time.
If it broke, I’d buy another, it seems to suit us very well.

Thanks all for your input, sounds like the 29er HT is the sensible choice, I’m pretty happy on it in the rough stuff but didn’t want to be kicking myself thinking I’d need to do it again on a FS to get the best out of it.

This thread has pictures of almost every inch of the trail. Take a look and make your mind up

Excellent thread which I’d missed and what looks like an excellent trip, I think it will be a few years yet before I could try convincing my 3 year old!

And best advice i got was to take some pipe lagging for the top tube to help when carrying.

Good shout, will be added to the list.

I’m going to go left field… Not really the time of year but later. Bat detector.

2nd the bat detector, great entertainment trying to track, and then identify what’s out and about.

Brilliant news, although sounds like you got there in the nick of time before it was collected.

    Police complaint?
I’m all for supporting the police, they have difficult job, but christ I don’t know what else you need to do in a case like this. Many people wouldn’t have had the guts to follow this up, and it’s clear the Police wouldn’t have resolved this.

I work for a local authority, we see this type of complaint all the time.
    Still amazes me how many people;
    1. Take no responsibility whatsoever for their own actions.
    2. Have a sense of entitlement that makes you wonder how they even function in the real world.
    3. Will then do everything they can to take revenge on the business for the perceived slight via complaints/bad reviews etc.
I have no doubt Glasgow will get this complaint in from the customer, via various channels, and will provide a similar, although politer response.

Saw a report on the beeb once about a gold top unpasteurized milk dispenser. Think it was on a camp site, and for 50p people would wander over with their bowl of Frosties and pour the milk straight on.

I use a folder, but only because I drive most of the way and use the bike for the last couple of miles. It’s better than I thought it would be to be honest with 20″ wheels, and I can do it wearing work clothes without a change, so its quick and easy.

However if the car wasn’t involved, I’d definitely be on a “proper” bike :-)

Looks good to me, can’t argue with the aims of a strategy to continue to develop the sport, facilities, and increase participation.
Good luck to them, I hope its very successful.

I really enjoyed Once a Runner by John L Parker, although its fiction its the only running book I’ve reread several times.

As above, no effect on “normal” alcohol, just the cheap cider, buckfast etc.

Multi buys and bogof type deals were made illegal a few years ago under a different piece of legislation, as were happy hour promotions.

Couple of interesting changes is that a bottle of cheap own brand vodka is now the same price as the branded equivalent, and small corner shops are the same price as big supermarkets.

Will be interesting to see if it makes any difference.

Jameso – thanks for the tip, managed to get it working with some adjustment. It’s strange that the 5800 fd mech arm is so long, 5700 etc was far shorter with more clearance.

I’ve got a 2016 Arkose 3, front mech (105 fd5800) is rubbing against the 40c nano at the rear when in the big ring.

Is there another compatible front mech without such a long arm, or more clearance?

Well that was bloody hard, but new FTP of 265.

Having a look on Zwiftpower at the live results, and I seem to have been Classed as a “U”, despite me using the format Name KISS (C)?

    Am I missing something?

Just a quick update for mnutt if he see’s this. :?:

He sent an e-mail, asking about sizing, but there seems to be a problem with his e-mail address?
mnutt, can you try again or send a different e-mail address?

Long and short of it is, I’m 5ft9 and riding the 16″. Very happy with it, and would probably also have been ok on the 18″.

I was also thinking about this, but I’ve got the 2016 Arkose 3 though which has flat mount disc brakes?

Can I fit “normal” post mount disc brakes with an adapter?
