  • All the ones that I know of are narrow -wide and so obviously no 33 tooth.

I did it this year as a bit of an experiment with a Dartmoor Hornet frame. 29er front 150mm fork and 650b rear. It rode really well but I got sick of the the rear wheel getting hung up on things that the front just rolls over and so have since returned to full 29er. I wasn’t concerned about the head tube as the Hornet frames are massively strong and are one of the few hardtail frames that can run a triple clamp fork without voiding the warranty.

Just about to head out myself. Wave if you see a baby blue Nordest Bardino.

This is probably going to be a bit controversial but I live (and have always lived) in the Peak District and I am realy starting to hate it! I’m sure it’s a wonderful place to come and visit but to actually live here is getting worse year on year. The traffic is terrible, there is no parking, the place is overun with wealthy retirees who constantly complain (and also have lots of time on their hands to kick up a fuss about their complaints) if anyone wants to do anything that differs slightly with what their quaint image of the countryside is. I can see the village I was born in from my window and also the house where my daughter was born and I feel like a total stranger here now.

I recently demoed the Stanton and liked everything about it BUT the BB is in my opinion too low and there were pedal strikes galore! If you mainly ride trail centers or your local riding is more swoopy than tech then it would be a good choice, however I ride mainly in the Peak District and needed a higher BB. In the end I bought a Nordest Bardino (55mm BB drop vs 70mm) and am very happy with it.

    done!

Cheers. I’ll have a look at them.

Rootdown 29er here. One of the older pre BA versions. It’s awesome! climbs well, descends well, feels realy solid and most importantly the best fitting bike i’ve ever owned. The only thing that I’d ever swap it for is the newer version and then only because I’ve got a hankering to try 650B+.

Gravity dropper.Ugly, too short a drop, not currently imported. However completely mechanical and can be fixed/serviced with a 7 lb hammer and a bent teaspoon! If they had kept up with longer drop trends and done something about the aesthetics I recon they would be just about the only player in the aftermarket dropper game today. I hear good things about specialized command posts but they also max out at 125mm.

The stans are good wheels if you are a spinner and not a power house (the freehubs are a bit fragile)

    Doh too late!

I believe that they are owned by the same company as Race Face and went through a re-branding where all the MTB stuff is now badged as Race Face and all the road ect stuff remains Easton.

You could squat over a mirror. Inventive minds find a way.

This thread is useless without pictures.. JOKE!!

Rallons seem prone to losing that particular nut. BKXC  lost one in spain and then was lucky to catch another one on about it’s last thread a few weeks ago.

One of the problems with Cut Gate is that it is becoming popular with the illegal motorbike mob. I’ve ridden it this morning ( I always wait for a prolonged dry spell or when it is frozen ) and there are quite a few dirt bike tyre tracks up there on the main track and in the peat alongside, you can even see where one of them binned it trying to use a soft peat bank as a berm. Unfortunately this appears to be a trend as there were also loads up Hagg Side a few weeks ago. What I don’t want to happen is for everyone involved hard work to be in vain because it won’t take many dirt bikes to rip up the trail again.

1961 Landrover series 2a aged 15. Still got it and it’s currently being restored.

6’2″ and built like a dray horse. I find that I have to try things on if possible. However there are some brands that I know fit e.g Endura shorts but definitely not Endura tops which I can only assume are an “athletic” fit.

P.S  Count yourself lucky, one of my mates is 6’8″ and has to buy whatever fits no matter the colour or cost.Sometimes it’s like riding with an expensively dressed Timmy Mallet!

Get one you will not be disappointed! I have had several FS bikes over the years and always end up back on a HT. Modern trail HTs are so good that there is nothing that can’t be ridden on them.I am currently lucky enough to have a HT (Chromag Rootdown) and a FS (cotic Rocketmax) and am seriously considering selling my Rocketmax Frame and building another HT with the rest of the components.

Top ones are probably for placing and tamping blasting charges. They are usually copper based to stop sparks which would ignite the charge and shoot the tamper out of the hole straight through your head. This happened to a man named Phineas Gage when he foolishly used an iron rod. He survived!

350 WAY too much for the forks! I have never paid that for brand new yaris.

Not sure about the bushing but when I talked to Cotic I’m sure the max fork length the frame is warrantied for is a 150mm.

The name of the parrot/hawk in Bottom.

No they looked like Haibike Nduros.

Sorry it should be AT LEAST 20mph. Mate I was with is a proper fitness freak and one time KOM holder of said climb and reckons they were going about twice as quick as he could.

I’ve definitely seen several Illegal/ chipped ones locally (peak district). I was going down potato alley a couple of weeks ago and there was a couple of youngish lads coming UP it at about 20 mph!

If you are on the main road with Ladybower on your left look straight ahead and you will see a bracken covered hillside with a large and obvious track going across it.A few years ago you could barely see it but now it is so wide and damaged from overuse that it is very obvious.

    Doggy McDogface?

You should have the freedom to say absolutely anything mixed with the intelligence to know when not to.

Ours is the opposite. Very comfy bed but an incredibly crap sofa!

Santa Cruzes ARE girly inasmuch as the frames for the Juliana women’s bikes are no different bar a paint job.

Thanks to Pook and NBT for everything they did. A very enjoyable social ride with some great trails.
    Dan,green Rocket MAX.

    Permission granted. I’ll be there.

Chromag Rootdown. In fact Chromag anything at all!

Rob Halford of Judas Priest. Not always great songs but his vocal range is immense.

I really don’t get on with Kitbag Hill. I have no problem with What goes up or Insidious incline which are both steeper and more technical. I suppose it just comes at a time when i’m starting to feel a bit knackered.

Unfortunately Sharkattack’s mate didn’t buy a bad example. I work on a lot of Jap pickups and you couldn’t give me a Navarra.

    What makes something obvious wrong?

I don’t often post in this type of thread but have been driven to it by a mixture of anger and IPA. What started off as a genuinely interesting insight into the practices of a significant proportion of the worlds population has been repeatedly attacked in an attempt to derail it. Perhaps all the genuinely interested people can stay here for future updates and all the others can start their own thread titled “people who have differing beliefs and practices than my own confuse and scare me”.

Designed for 120mm to 160mm forks. Mine is one of the older non boost/screw in BB models and the back end isn’t harsh at all.You can cover mile after mile in comfort and then throw it down the nastiest rock and root strewn decent while laughing like a loon!
