watched a documentary a few years ago. mostly 18 YOs doing what 18 YOs do in foreign countries, going out and turning up (or not) for work absolutley hanging.

It didn’t seem that difficult to be a good au pair, turn up, on time & not stinking of booze.

This was in London, not brits abroad for a change!

allow dirt jumps in a small area of woods near my parents house – I haven;t been there for a long time but it was all managed quite well.

there had been jumps there for 15 years, over the course of a year or two they got a bit bigger and spread out, almost onto a footpath. The diggers were then told to keep it to a specific area only – and keep the litter down, which seemed to be working last time i was there.

There were some official signs explaining it all.

who have no idea how to get through security quickly…

what is wrong with these people.

You have been in a queue for 20 minutes walking past signs that say you have to take off your shoes and belt.

Then a man comes round and tells you ‘you will have to remove your shoes and belt, please get ready’.

Why the **** are you at the front of the queue having sent your try down the conveyer in your shoes & belt! :x

Did similar and sainsburys ended up with a £70 kettle.

It was lasting well until i fully submerged it in descaler. I was reading the instructions for a shower head. It lasted a week or two more before giving it up. 8O

My old man’s done bikes for him& my mum. Normal bb& gears was ok. IGH and EBB was a real pain & involved lots of fettling/ bodging to get the bb sensors mounted. Now sorted they love them and have got rid of all their other bikes!

I’m going to guess designer chooses CMYK in cad, frame builder colour matches and supplies samples, designer signs off on it. Designer never uses RAL code.

As above any decent paint shop will be able to match- it might be v. Expensive if they have to buy paint in. It might be. Water value to have it repainted and get touch up pot at the time.

I like it. Boscome pier has similar clean lines and ’emptyness’; it feels spacious & really lets you connect with the sea. It’s very peacful. compare to Brighton – it’s all fair games, karaoke and drinking grockels!

I just spotted this bike on EBAY and thought of you, it’ll be much lighter than most.

    needs a small repair.

Walk down your local high street and tell me what percentage of shops have access control on the doors when the place is staffed

anyone remember the offy near the level in Brighton? ring a bell to get in, then have to ask for stuff from within a bullet proof cube.

    was a very strange experience.

Are you talking about the loop from the lace on one boot becoming entangled in the eyelet of the other boot, thus creating a comedy shoes-tied-together scenario?

yes. I was shuffling because of a big suitcase and trying to get on the escalator.

almost stacked it down a huge, three storey, escalator in some european metro station! I thought i would die!

    Just frames and no forks?

aftermarket forks often look funky with hydroformed frames & are expensive making the frame/ fork not such a bargin.

Thomthumb don’t you have a chain catcher?

yep. i’m a huge fan of deda dog fangs – all my road bikes have them. I was shifting from small ring to big, pushed the chain over the top. had to shift down and soft pedal to get it back on. lesson learnt just spin it – I can do silly cadences; i should have yesterday.

RE lap boards, do you mean they have them by the start/ finish line? I’ve seen them before but I didn’t see them yesterday – i should pay more attention… 8O

Well that was a rude awakening!

indeed. Finished 56th – looking to improve next time. There was some great racing at the back; i was neck and neck with a lad for the last two laps – i held him off all the way to the line and then dropped my chain in the sprint.

had great fun – new bike is great. skills and fitness both slightly lacking; although i feel like the skills were better by the end than the beginning.

Crosshair flew by me on lap two (?)- not to be seen until the finish!

Notes for next time – need to adjust my garmin screens – I had no idea of time passed; which made pacing tough. need to stay focussed even if i’m on my own i can see my heart rate dropped when i must have taken a minute to cruise. i do remember thinking I was out on my own almost exactly mid race – then i got caught up!

had suspicisons about the landlady in our local. could add up ok, but couldn;t use the computerised till.

if the till got changed you’d get undercharged and she litterally couldn’t do anytihng about it. Saw her feign it’s not working’ / ‘haven’t got my glasses’ too many times.

must be tough to deal with changing world if you can’t read. EG. the brewery suddenly bring in a computerised till.

Yep. First race of the season (i’ve been away). Looking forward to it but i’m sure i’ll be dragging round the back. fitness isn’t good, skills are non-existant.

Say hi, green bike, green Push the Cranks kit.

Put it down at my parents for occasional use. It takes a bit of adjusting from my other bike, and for this reason I’ve been using it less and less, but it’s still fun to point down a hill. This would make choices of travel down there more flexible, and would mean my dad could get a bit of use out of it – he had a go round my local trails and loved the confidence it gave him.

this sounds like a good option. give the old man a smile.

    should look like this.

the top bolt (brake booster) is attached to the elbow.

Good luck – one of the most annoying components to set up iirc – mostly due to that elbow.

When those tumours kick in the pounds just drop off.

when i had radiotherepy they told me i would lose weight. As it was 4 months before my wedding i was intending coming out looking like micheal rasmussen with a beard – get married then win some hill climbs.

6 weeks of radiation and i’m “the only patient, never to have lost weight!!” oh and my beard fell out!! Turns out radiotherapy is a rubbish weight loss program.

+1. just bought my first full build for about a decade. the cable routing has been done poorly from the factory – i’ve had a go at redoing it with whats there, and it’s ok. but really needs the lot replacing. bloody annoying.
