Just wanted to add a counter point to this

“Transition was such a ball ache to try and organise”

I asked at my local transition dealer for a demo and they called me back within 3 days and said When did i want it. There were some stipulations about length of hire – i think it’s 48 hours weekday/ 36 weekend (or similar)

I collected it Saturday midday had it set up etc, took it for a quick ride in the afternoon, had it all day Sunday, dropped it back Monday 9 am. No charge either.

    And ordered one.

The process couldn’t have been simpler.

Do you need the best or do you need a bike that fits well & rides amazing?

I went for the latter and stopped testing when Found one that I loved. I’m not worried that another one might have been a smidge better; i know this one was a lot better than the others I tested.

Just make sure you go about anything in the correct and legal way – otherwise you’ll end up having to explain your actions in family court.

For all you know right now – the PNC might be wrong and it’s another bloke with same name who lives nearby. I’m not saying don’t worry; just make sure you don’t do anything that they can use against you/ you come to regret. I’ve seen this type of thing go BADLY wrong in the past.

I have a very good ikea one which cost £25 – don;t have them any more though.

I have a john lewis one – similar cost, not quite as nice.

Key is to keep them sharp.

Cyclist should have pulled over but doesn’t have to. Makes him a bit of a knob.

Ambulance driver should know the above.

Ambulance driver did a decent job of making progress and avoiding the cyclist.

Its amazing how crap people are at letting blue lights through. People who stop when they should go; people go when they should stop.

    Two options for naming:

Roadie option – describe the section – ‘slight up’, ‘tree covered hill’, ‘steep up’ – in fairly generic terms. DO NOT consider using a geographically correct name such as White Hill, Gladstone Pass or similar.

MTB option – Describe the section, geographic terms are allowed this time, ‘descent to river’, ‘white hill climb’, ‘roller coaster ride’. DO NOT use the informal trail naming system that MTBs have been using since the repack era. Swollen uvula, F4 trail, repack etc. etc.

    Hope that clarifies the conventions.

I have wasted hours of my life looking for my car on the hill by london road station in Brighton.

When i lived there I would leave it for a week or more without using it. When i was visiting I’d be in a rush to get parked, to a mates and go out for a weekend on the town. Then Sunday I’d be tired and have no memory of friday. I’d then be traipsing up and down that hill looking for the car!

My grandfather was old school and dealt with all the bills – pretty much gave my grandmother housekeeping.

When he died there was a set of folders in the study – each detailing bills, insurance, pensions, bank accounts and his stocks & shares. No one knew these existed.

It made it much easier for my Dad to help my Grandmother get things transferred to her name, and sell the shares that she didn’t want to be dealing with.

I have a box with a load of paperwork in – although i’m not very good at clearing it out. Last clearout found 15 year old payslips from my college summer jobs! although i have a plan for a better system!

Small universe syndrome at it’s worst. People can’t work out that the accusation of theft is at a population level rather than individually!

Apparently a lot of people are so annoyed at the extra time, that they leave a weeks shopping behind! 8O

Presumably when they’ve calmed down they go back and repeat the task and refill an entire trolley! Twonks!

You lot any idea how snobby you sound?

other cultures actually take pride in the quality of the food they eat. This is not a normal position to take in the UK. Eating good quality food with good quality ingredients takes a lot of time, and money, in the UK.

    cheers Ferrals.

Well that was wet; probably the muddiest I’ve ever been! So wet the timing chips didn’t work!

Good fun though; the course was fantastic.

Much lower turnout than other rounds! It was the definition of bleak today though I wonder if that had an effect. Looking forward to next week’s season finale at Southampton.

Any experienced hands got any advice for wet weather gear.

I’ve got loads of kit available: but the crux is there isn’t time to change between practice and race.

At the moment i’m thinking of wearing a waterproof jacket and shorts for warm up; leaving them on the line and racing in a waterproof jersey. Short sleeve/ longsleeve and glove choice made sometime tommoroow lunch time.

    Sorry for your loss.

The last crematorium I went to the coffin didn’t go on a conveyor belt through a curtain, they just took it away to another room

Last one i went to it didn’t go anywhere. it was at the front of the room the whole time; then we walked out, with it still there.

I’ve wondered if it had something to do with translation from their language – super being the closest word to the one they’d normally use.

super /hyper as emphasis sound like 90s/ 2000s french colloquialisms.

I counted ‘myself’s myself this week. Since typing that it’s the most misused word; I’ve heard it three times. Each time it should have been ‘I’. 100% incorrect!

I won’t try and sell it on here

i’d buy it if it’s cheap. My man ^ can definately fix it.

I thought that the accepted unit of measurement round here was “an area the size of Wales”?

Never played at school so never knew how it worked etc. then watched a few matches (on tv) with friends at uni – understand enough to enjoy a match.

The i went to Hove and saw a match for real – scoreboard is not quite the same as TV coverage – i had no idea what was going on – a friend was on the beer stand though so got buy one get one on pints – then hampshire lost to sussex – great day.

my brother does permanent nights. 10-8. he sleeps twice; few hours when he gets back and a couple of hours in the afternoon.

If he needs more he extends the morning sleep to maybe 4-5 hours. he finds he can’t sleep any more than this in the day, and without the 2 hr nap in the evening he’s too tired.

it’s the leave he finds tough; having to switch back to a normal routine to fit in with family friends, then back to nights.

he eats at roughly normal times; breakfast when he gets in/ or up, lunch in the middle of the day and evening meal before going to work.

65″ on 28c tyres. done a lot of commuting plus a few longer rides up to 100 miles.

64-66″ is fairly popular with the fixed audax crowd. although there are certainly some much higher geared guys out there.

tyres can make a huge difference; difference between a fast tyre and a marathon plus is worth 2 teeth on the rear for me.

myself. most overused word in the workplace!

Count how many times you hear it in a week/ day. then work out hoe many times it was needed: I’m not sure it’s the correct word 90% of the instances I hear it.
