grime will wear your wheels faster, and road salt can corrode stuff, particularly alu nipples & around the brakes.

Worst corrosion I’ve ever seen was on a specialized allez that had been ridden wet and left a lot. worst than any rusty steel bike i’ve seen!

A new type of bike has come out that halves the effort involved in going for a ride.

but what if you use it to ride for the same time and effort but go further? Or is that not in your imagination of lazy ebiker?

It’s clear you haven’t ridden one.

US rap is lost at the moment….what happened to US rap?

now they’re taking the drugs – not selling them.

There are some brilliant rappers coming through soundcloud.

I;m going to go against STW norm and recomend somrthing that I don;t have, never driven & never been in.

    Honda CR-V.

Loads around for £1k mark, honda’s famous reliability and loads of boot space.

removing wax with earbuds isn’t recommended.

I had radio therapy on my face – resulting in some pretty nasty burns around and in my ear. Skin fell off my ear in BIG lumps, the bits form the inside took a long time to come out – I sort of miss it.

my other commuter has a hub gear – it’s just i’ve never ridden it to work (or anywhere really)! still an ongoing project…

I built one – when house hunting and considering doubling the commute to 50km round trip.

Never liked the bike for commuting – I rebuilt it as a gravel/ tourer; which was much better & then moved to a house the same distance from work; just a different direction – I’m still commuting on my old commuter.

No photos of the ‘super commuter’ but it looked a lot like this gravel bike but with a dynamo hub & less bags.

Just stick a Zertz / quality carbon post on the alu CAAD frame – probably possible to shave a few grammes there, but I’d take the extra for the comfort.

careful now. 25.4 post – cannondale save & hylix are the only options afaik

I love taking my time on a project and getting things just as I want them. Sometimes that’ll include learning a new skill or how to handle a particular tool to a satisfactory standard before starting on the final project.

was about to post similar – I enjoy anything i have the time to plan and execute well. Hate anything thats a rush or not planned well.

Unfortunately these days anything at work or home seems to be the latter.

I also don’t particularly like vague instructions

    XC rather than XC racing?

the plan was general riding plus racing but gorrick seem to do three races a year now. I’ve missed the first, can’t make the second and the third is in november!

Grassroots XC has died in the south! I guess i shouldn’t complain as I haven’t raced for 5/6 years!

are you certain on that? Removed one similar at the inlaws – it was 600 mm in places! Luckily my mate had all the tools but it was still a lot of concrete to move to a skip!

gauge – great i’m responsible for calibration so write it a lot!

colleague – mostly avoid it by writing the sentence differently.

Guarantee – The other day i’d typed it in a email 3 times, not convinced I’d spelt it right, i then googled it, only to be convinced i’f googled another work as it looked so wrong!

Base training doesn’t have to mean long steady distance. Indeed it probably shouldn’t unless you are riding full time (15+ hrs a week)

For me consistency would be the biggest catalyst at the moment – I don;t seem to be able to get my body clock/ head and body on level pegging ATM.

Brexit peeps ^ missing the point.

That language is unacceptable. What a sad little man.

What i don’t get about these types of people is how/why are they so angry about so little!

jefit. not perfect but pretty good. Lacking some (basic IMO) exercises but i sub them for similar ones. eg. bench press instead for floor press.

House guests in the week can do one – we struggle to keep the two of us wash and fed midweek. Either or both of us might end up doing 14+ hour days at no notice. It’s not unknown for me to be in bed & asleep before she comes home from our ‘office hours’ jobs.

I don’t think your being unreasonable. The MIL sounds like a nightmare.

I’ve weighed components. Hubs & spokes close to listed. Rims can be way out. Have read on here that superstar rims are way above list weight.

Cleared out car for sale; the central locking had been playing up for a while; you’d come back and it’d be unlocked.

I cleared the car and it resulted in two carrier bags: one bag of rubbish & one bag with First aid kit/ spork/ window cloths/ ice scraper etc etc: the things to keep.

I realised sometime later that I didn’t have the CDs and my satnav. Either I chucked them or they’d been nicked in the fortnight before. I genuinely don’t know.

some friends have just had a extension redesign to their house which has added ~50% floorspace.

Cheaper than building and/or moving; although they did rent elsewhere for 6 months.

It’s completely changed the feel of their house too.

    can;t see your photos.

mine from november. That tiagra mech was 100 km old and the jockey wheels were crap (only found out after) new 105 one seems much better.

Questions are – what caused the hanger to break? Jammed rear mech/jockeys?

    Probably.

Did the grass/leaves in the mud make it worse?

    yes.

I lost a mech at the first Southampton round; I finished the race then it came off near the changing rooms!

I rode yesterday. I did 2 laps and DNF’d. the wheels wouldn’t turn and I was shattered – carrying the bike for 1/2 the lap when it weighs 10kg extra is hard.

I was running rocket rons – I might try something else next season – or i might spectate at the sports centre next year!

Today’s round at Southampton wasn’t quite so fun!

Sticky mud + lots of leaves meant bikes were clogging all over the place. I’d seen 4 broken mechs before i’d left the car park.

The start was placed so that it was a run from the line. I’m no runner & this didn’t do my asthma any good.

By bike was completely clogged after 30 mins, and i DNF’d. The bike was so heavy by this point I was struggling to lift it to my shoulder.

Second bike & pit crew required i think!

Should have taken my spikes – never even thought about it this morning! Need to improve at running. Need to not have an asthma attack first lap!
