Winchester is really well based for XC riding.  You can lap the city staying off road 90% of the time.  Crack out OS/ Bing maps and string some bridleways together.

SBP is definitely worth a play, and Lordswood is 2 mins down the road. LW can be tough to navigate without a guide though…

It’s the airport not the airline that govern/ enforce this afaik.

Bournmouth (to Majorca) are really hot on this. 2 each max.  My mate tried to get two in the bike bag, two in luggage and they caught it.

7.6 for caad10.  it’s a weird mix of weenieism and cheap stuff (unfinished build really).

coffee gave you cold hands? really?

excessive caffeine gave me Raynaud’s type symptoms. my hands would get cold (commuting) and not get warm for 4+ hours.  I was probably drinking 4-5 L of cafetiere coffee.

I’m a back of the pack botherer at CX (and i’ve got much less fit) however warm up and pacing are my best advice.

I did 4/5 races last season plus spectating when i was sick – learnt a lot by the new year.  Is there a Cx racing thread this year? it was very helpful last year. Each race reflecting, setting goals, discussing and getting advice from some experienced people.

Shimano sort of relased 4700 and then let us all find out it won’t work with older tiagra or much else for that matter

It works with 11 speed stuff just fine.

I normally judge ebay vendors by the rest of the shop. OH MY!

6 butt plugs for £8. seems too cheap to be true.

    I’ll let you know.

I won’t even buy a tyre from their website

You should – you might even get the compound/ quality advertised – unlike the last few sets i’ve bought.

I too was a fanboi – inbred, pompino, 456, inbred 29, scandal 29. but i’ve been burned, too many times.

The bike would have to be 11sp already as you can only get 11sp hydros in shimano.

My bike is 11sp shifters + mech. 10sp cassette because MTB wheels are 10 speed.  First shift goes nowhere. Works great.

I have some smart sams for sale – if you want to try them.

They’re great but the 47c Version won’t fit my new bike…

probably the isle of wight – I’ve ridden there a few times but the cost, and time, of the boat makes it prohibitive. Cowes is about 10 miles from home.

I wouldn’t have thought there would be much call for a second-hand porcelain throne in faded 1960s-vintage toxic yellow, but here we are.

I know a bloke who has a farm full of old bathroom suites. People will break one piece and replace with a spare.  He has a barn full of coloured suites. He makes a good living off of it.

the jamis is the most CX like on your list. Also consider 650b tyres – that’ll be quite different to the road bikes.

All of them will get you around the Reiver course just fine.

true but they are slightly different bikes.

Vaya has longer chainstays; and is more tourer than cross on the gravel scale.  Personally I was never in love with my vaya and i replaced it with a cross bike due to it feeling slow.

    Stem or brakes for me.

I’m messing around with a 1990 Raleigh at the moment, complete with 135 mm stem. That’s not silly long either there are lots of 150 mm stems of that era.  Handling is miles away from my modern MTB.

    I’m quite happy rigid. ;)

    Hardtail

    Full Sus

    CX

    Fixed Commuter

    BMX

    Road bike

Town bike/ IGH commuter – ongoing project bike – I’ve only ridden it twice despite having it for 2 years – although I’m keen to get it going.

Wifes old MTB on the turbo.

Half aren’t worth selling & enough that I never have to give an actual number to how many – I just say loads – it makes the following conversation easier/ and allows for natural expansion/ contraction with less scrutiny. My wife thinks I’m mental, but goes with it.  Turbo is currently in the house much to her annoyance!

    Looks great. More pics required.

But I do think people should stop posting good Vaya pics, I sold mine and now I miss it!

I can definitely tell the difference. I prefer 29 but whether it’s better…

I would have thought you’d have a hard time arguing that the parts aren’t worth the £100. However i do agree that it should be less than a bike with a good frame and the same parts.

2.4 is fine if dry; but not enough mud clearance in the clart.

Rides best a little XC imo. Slammed stem widish bars. fork 100mm max, 80 mm better, rigid best.

Might make the BB a bit high, they were designed for 80-100mm.

^ that. High BB has horrible characteristics.

    Can’t you slackset it?

don’t buy anything from them where you expect any sort of quality / warranty / customer service?!!?

    That’s not fair..

you shouldn’t actually expect what they’ve advertised either!

Don’t really want to cut it up as I have the vague idea I’ll try to get it up and running as a bit of a project,

get it running, turn into a go kart, drive out.

    job, jobbed.

assuming the wheel size/ headset/ BB brake mount standard isn’t redundant.
