didn’t like em at all. had the feeling of having my hands behind my shoulders when standing but they were good seated; too much of a compromise for me.

    try em & see

conti explorer is a pretty good budget choice for gorricks; was running a gravity on the front yesterday and it was spot on. my rear tyre wasn’t great (maxxis larsen tt) a friend was running conti speed kings and found those ok too.

hardest thing i ever did (am doing?) Only smoked for a few years, but still trying to break the habit. Gave up mid 2007, drifted between smoking lots, some and none for the rest of that year, occasional ciggies through ’08 (mostly when pissed). Along with a lot of guilt Haven’t had one this year and hope to keep it that way.

Still crave them when driving and when feeling awkward, around new people and that.

I know people who’ve kicked the smack but not the fags!

my on-one did that too. i’m still running the forks!

use pressure on the pedals and the front brake.

Roll forwards slightly, then apply the front brake, shifting weight forwards and then backwards, similar to an endo but very small, you can then roll backwards. Catch this with the pedals and repeat.

Try to keep your centre of gravity (hips) centred and move the bike under you.

We don’t really have an LBS. In fact Southampton, unless someone can point me to one, doesn’t really have a ‘decent’ bike shop.

you need to get yourself down to the hub in shirley high street mate

http://www.thehubcycleworks.co.uk/ (although this appears to be down)

no matter what tubes i buy, i will always end up with one of each on my mtb – it just refuses not to be shonky!

if it was for commuting i’d run two sided spds as you need to take your feet outta the pedals more often than ‘true road’ cycling.

you need to remove it all from the i tunes library. then re add it, use ‘add folder to library’ iirc. and just point it to the external drive. should be simple enough. HTH

my first car was a volvo 440 (sh*tbox i called her). I used to get pulled a lot reason they always gave was ‘don’t see many young lads with old volvos’ so my car is shit and to rub it in you pull me over to tell me it’s not cool enough for most of my peers! cheers lads!

move the chainring to the middle position.

what clink said: n-gear and bashring, works brilliantly.

don’t go dmr doesn’t work well on a 32T chainring, and it rubs too much for XC on the extremes.

last years boardmans in halfords pretty well specced for that money. or the 09 rockhopper disc ( or something) at 499 both look pretty good buys.

don’t have a roadrat; but if you’re looking for a hub recommendation on one or surly are very good budget options goldtec is excellent vfm, pauls or white industries are the pimpy options.

had a really good experience with halfords whilst sorting out my boardman this last week; couldn’t have asked anymore from the lads there.

Guess with any big chain it depends far too much on the people you see and not the actual company!

i’m 5’11 and test rode a large which felt right. As always i’m on the borderline between med and large. I always err on a bigger bike with a shorter stem.

only some halfords stores stock them; the ones that don’t cant get them in but can tell you a: where stocks them and b: who has one in stock.

did you speak to someone in bikehut? try calling again, you might speak to someone more intelligent. If you get no luck, poole store is a stockist and the chaps there seem knowledgeable; they should be able to help you. HTH.
