I’ve put Derby rims on mine, 40mm external, work well with a 3” spesh purgatory, and 2.8 Nobby Nic.

Kingdom Vendetta 2 should fit the bill, or get in touch with Chris there, and he custom make something similar, to tick all your boxes.

    Loving mine

I’ve got 170’s on a B plus specific Kingdom Vendetta. Quite a low BB, so shorter cranks to reduce pedal strikes. Only been out a few times, and loving it !!

Cokie, yes, the vendetta boost. It started as a bespoke, but Chris at Kingdom like the idea, so available to anyone, and he has one for himself. I got the TB as an experiment to see what would go in standard forks, and whilst they did fit, it was very tight, and no chance of anything bigger, so decided to get the ‘boost’ ones fitted. I tried the purgatory 3in in the rear, but also too close for comfort, so the NN it is for the moment. Like to try a Maxxis Rekon+ whenever they are released.

Just collected today, but rain stopped any chance of a ride later. Also just received a 2.8 Nobby Nic, so will get that fitted on the back, and hopefully out on the weekend to give it a blast.

Not actually delivered, I had to collect

I used to try and have a go on a demo at the local specialized dealer, but living in the Isle of Man, not much choice of other demos. Current bikes all bought on reviews and hearsay are intense carbine 29, YT Capra, and latest, a Kingdom Vendetta,

Looks good, I had thought about getting one, but went for a kingdom vendetta. It arrived the other day, and hopefully collecting from lbs who are building it up 😀

I’ve got 2 boys, 13 months apart and now 4 and 5. I sometimes think getting all the nappies, teething etc out of the way was a good idea, but it was tough. Little one started school now, and things much easier. I still try to get out on the bike a couple of nights a week, and a Sunday, doesn’t always happen, and may get worse when taxiing them around to clubs etc,.

I’ve been a house husband/stay at home day for nearly 5 years now, and love it. Be careful though, you may find that Mrs MCTD will frown upon cheeky bike rides during the day, when your are allegedly supposed to be at home. When I do pop out for a sneaky one, I try to go first thing, so not scratching to pick the kids up, in case of any punctures etc.

Have fun, and enjoy, and don’t worry about baking, I never have.

How about a Kingdom Vendetta. http://kingdombike.com/en/ti_bike/vendetta2

Very biased, mines being shipped today hopefully.

A friend has a beargrease, and he puts 29er wheels on during the summer. Like you, 29 rim build on to a fattie size hub for the rear, and standard wheel in a set of 100mm x fusion forks up front. XC hardtail without the +1 hassles from his wife

    thomasgeorge

Well, I put the wheel in my 29er pikes, albeit not securely, as I had to remove the cap/spacer from the boost hubs, which probably made it sit a few mil higher than it would, but the 3in spesh purgatory did fit, just. Not a lot of room for a mudguard, or any mud build up.

They were 75.2 measured with a digital vernier, and the Derby rims are 40mm external, about 35mm internal. They are on boost size hubs, but I’ll see if I can get them in my 29er pikes later, and report back.

@Nemesis, not ridden yet, still waiting on the frame, but certainly looks a lot grippier than a trailblazer. Frame is due next week, all the bits ready to go on, so should be able to report soon after

A friend of mine has had both. Then Shan was his dream bike, but after riding for a few times, he was getting pain in his knees, due to geometry. He’s now on a Kingdom Vendetta, with some custom adjustments to the geometry, and loving it.

Noltae, l tried a trailblazer on my 30mm roval rim, as part of an experiment, and was a bit underwhelmed at its size of 62.2mm

I’ve just ordered a Kingdom Vendetta 2, £1199 of Ti loveliness. Can’t wait for it to come now, and get it built up.

Would budget stretch to a Ti frame ? If so, a Kingdom Vendetta 2. I’ve one on order, to take ‘plus’ size tyres. My mate has one which he runs on 26in wheels, and it’s a weapon.

How about a YT Capra comp 2, at €3499, it’s coming in about £2600. It’s a very versatile bike, any climbs very well for a slack angle bike.

Not Evans. I’m still boycotting them, as they insisted on a receipt for postage costs, after they twice sent me the wrong item. The postage sticker clearly had the amount on, and despite requests for the manager to re consider, they didn’t, so I haven’t bought a thing from them in over 2 years, and never will. Rant over.

My just 4 yr old has an earlier rider belter, having progressed from their balance bike. It’s light, and he picked up pedalling within a couple of weeks, and now doing laps of the local bmx track. He’s about 103 cm tall, and the seat isn’t as far down as it goes. His elder sibling has one also, as he never got to grips with the Trek 16 as it had a coaster brake, and it weighed a ton.

I have had one on a bike for 18 months, and never had a problem, however, on my other bike, a YT Capra that’s 5 months old, it’s in the LBS getting its 3rd. One of the downsides to getting mail order bikes, you either have the choice of sending it back to Germany for them to sort, or paying LBS to do it for you.

Take a look at a kingdom vendetta 2, if budget can stretch to Ti, they do an extra large, and the are really helpful, and can effectively custom make one to fit, for very little more than the price of the standard ones. I’ve got one on the way, with capacity for 3 ” tires.

Thanks guys, 36.5 should just about do it. It’s 36 on pikes, and only fraction of clearance.

I didn’t want to go down the + size forks, as the axle to crown is longer, and would need more new wheels, with ‘boost’ size hubs.

    Cheers

If you take a look at the YT industries UK Facebook, the e13s are continually slated. Mavics ok, but take a look at Roval Traverse fatties, 30mm internal gives a great wide tyre, and grip

I’ve got a pro race in medium, and with 35mm of the seat post out of the frame, it’s 1080 mm from the ground to the top of the saddle. So with seat as low as possible, it would be 1045mm.

Not had any issues, but if you take a look at the YT industries UK Facebook page, there are forever people going on about the e13 wheels having issues with bearings and the freehub.

It’s a great bike, not just on the gnarly stuff, climbs well, and equally as happy on gentle trails

I’ve had my pro race since April, and loving it. Not seen any issue with the 2015 frames, just the earlier 2014 ones. They are a big set up, so in terms of mail order, and warranty, if need be, I wasn’t overly concerned. hit the order button, you know you want too !!!

I’ve done several over the years, and each one had some problems, but nothing major, and always come out of them financially better off. I had no background in the building trade, I worked in a bank during the first few, which helped with mortgage etc, but doubt it would be of any benefit now. Try plotfinder.com for a local plot, or just keep checking the local agents. Depending on affordability, also consider something with an wreck on, and knock down and start again. Always worth it in the long run, project managing yourself will be trying and frustrating, but give you a much better home in the end, and so long as you don’t get silly with finishes, will make a few £££ along the way.

I’m looking now for the perfect last one to give me the house I want, and be mortgage free.

It’s very much a cross country ride, with quite a bit of road to start. New bits added for this year (still got a sore back from a mornings trail building) Try manxtreme.com, they have a link for travel and accommodation quotes. It’s a great atmosphere, with 1500 + entries. If you fancy something a little more challenging, there is a 2 day enduro on the 15\16 August, I rode the 2nd round event on Sunday, and after a week of decent weather, the trails were brilliant, so August should be even better

9 of us stayed at the tontine, on our trip north last year. Good accommodation, lock up for bikes, and decent restaurant. It’s a cycle ride from glentress and central in Peebles for a night out. http://Www.tontinehotel.com

I put a Siemens one in the house I built nearly 8 years ago, and whilst it was a bit of an extravagance at the time, costing about £1,000, it’s still going strong, and apart from a the regular de-scaling and cleaning, which it does automatically, it’s no hassle at all. I chose Siemens, as apart from being a good brand, the oven and microwave matched, and gave some symmetry to the units (Mrs TG likes symmetry !!)

The end 2 end is a good event, although the course has a lot of road sections in it, they are always up grading and adding new trails. Last year was perfect weather, a great atmosphere, and after a bit of committed training, I managed a top 100 result, in 3 hrs 33 mins, Surprised myself !!! There is also a ‘Manx 100’ in July, which is predominatly off-road, has a lot more climbing, and options of either 100 km, or 100 miles. A real challenge.
