Thanks all for assistance. Would appear Northwave have brought out lots of new stuff since I looked, and the northwave yeti looks like it should do the job, so down to the lbs to get some ordered.

Thanks scotroutes, they look good, but I fear with since a grippy sole they may be a nightmare getting in to the cleats, I’m using HT X2 pedals, and with the pins, turning your foot isn’t the easiest with grip like that.

@poah, yes, same problems, hence the question, I need artic boots, with enduro sole

    @nickc
, yes, winter Spds with a flatter sole. I hadn’t heard or seen any, hence the post to all you helpful folk

    @psling
, without getting in to heated debate on the difference, maybe I should have said more DH than XC

If he can touch the ground, then go for it. My 5 year old, of average height is on a 20” Early rider belter. Twist grip 3 gears, and very light. Didn’t go for the one with discs or front suspension, just unnecessary weight in my opinion

My nearly 6 year old has just moved from his 16” belter on to his elder brothers 20” one, and loving it. They are exceptionally well made, the break levers are just right for little hands, and they are very light, which is a great help for little kids. It’s the one without suspension or discs, I figured just an unnecessary weight for what he needs at the moment. The fact that you got the smaller one for him, I’d go for the next size up now. I’d have got a bigger one for my eldest if they did one,

It does on my slash, just a tiny hex bolt. That said, it’s only a finger size hole, so not sure how you would get a cable tie in,

Take a look at kingdom bikes, they can do something bespoke to suit, if Ti is still your preference.

I’m just over 5’10 with a 33″ inside leg, and I’ve been riding a medium, and find it perfect. It’s for sale if you’re interested. Carbon pro race with carbon Roval wheels. Email in profile

I’m 5’10 1/2 with a 33” inside leg and have a 27.5 YT Capra in medium, a 27.5 Kingdom Vendetta in medium, 29er Niner air 9 in medium, and on the way, a 29er trek slash, with a 19.5 frame, although With there strange ‘virtual’ sizing, I understand it’s actual is about 18.5. First 3 feel fine for what they’re designed for, and fingers crossed the trek will aswell

I’m hoping mine will be here next week, so can give you a report then, can’t wait

I was there at the beginning of October for a long weekend of riding with them, and had a brilliant time, some of the trails in the photos above brought back good memories. I took my own bike, but 2 others hired the spesh enduros, and they were OK. Heard a rumour they could have Trek next year. Lots of the trails are used in there local enduros, and rode some that will be used in the ews next year. That’s on in May, I think, and they are organising it, so avoid that time.

I’ve had, and broke, Enve and Roval, and now have some Derby rims, and they’re holding up well. Cheaper than the others also 🙂

As you do, I’ll recommend what I have, a kingdom vendetta, but if Ti is a bit pricey, take a look at the Dartmoor Hornet, at £200 it seems a bargain

At 4 yrs old, my youngest went straight from a balance bike to an early rider belter, and picked up pedalling no problem. No need for stabilisers at all. Whilst they are a bit dearer, you should get good residual value, as it will only be a year or so, and he will be ready for 20in wheels. He’s just 5 now, and can manage his elder brothers 20in belter, but would probably struggle a bit off road, so will probably leave getting him one until Christmas, or next Easter.

I am running the same, and all ok. I tend to find that new CB pedals do have very tight cleats, but the do slacken off with use. Give it a couple of weeks, and should be fine.

Whilst it’s probably no cheaper than the Isla bikes, take a look at the Early Rider Belter, very light, well built, and probably good resale value. My boy, who’s just 6 is loving his.

Jump on the boat at Heysham for a weekend on the Isle of Man, some great trails over here now.

I’ve been getting silver for my kids on and of. I used Guernsey mint, as was able to get VAT free. You could try bullionby post.co uk, will be cheaper than the Royal mint. For a very gold biased, but sometimes entertaining daily commentary, take a look at http://silver-and-gold-prices.goldprice.org

Some footage coming down snaefell, not me by the way.

[Only want to ride snaefell just to say I’ve done it really.
I’ll check out the other option though cheers.]

The local downhill club did a race down it in 2014, with a tram uplift. I had entered, but bust a wheel the week before, and was gutted.

If you do go up, it would be as well to ride, push, carry up the main track, and straight back down. Following the tram track up is terrible.

You’re not strictly speaking allowed up snaefell, and tbh, it’s not a great ride. From union mills, you’re not to far from Archalligan, where there is 20k of trails around the forest, venture a little further and south barrule has some decent stuff. If you fancy something gnarrly, on from south barrule is Cringle, Arrasey, or Kerrodhoo, all of which have some gravity trails. Up Peel hill is a nice run on a sunny evening. If you want a big one, head to Ramsey, for Ballure, Brookdale and Skyhill, or you could do the recent cyclefest xc loop from Milntown.

With so much more top end kit around now, it will be interesting to resurrect this thread in 2020, and see what’s happening too all the stuff that’s been bought from 2014 onwards. Maybe 27.5 will be gone, and they will be gathering dust as spare bikes in people’s sheds. Can see it happening a bit already, with boost hubs, and + size compatibility, my 2014 Carbine 29er seems a bit dated.

Take a look on Facebook YT Industries UK, the guys there seem quite well informed. Some people say there’s have been turning up early, without any word from Germany.

Yeah, that was already in the plan, education, housing, travel to relatives etc. You could say they would need transport, but a big difference between a fiesta and a Ferrari.

You could do premium bonds, and take a chance on a big win. Or at a look at silver and gold bullion, that’s slowly creeping up again.

They used a house of mine for part of ‘Robot Overlord’ ( straight to dvd I think) they wanted something that looked post apocolipse, and it was, and still is waiting conversion to flats. Also, living on the Isle of Man, and a stones throw from the TT course, ‘Closer to the edge’.

I know that there is a mini film industry, fuelled by government grants and tax breaks, but didn’t realise quite so many had been done.

Autoglym odour eliminator, says it does this :-

Odour Eliminator is an active odour formulation that doesn’?t just mask smells, it destroys them.

Spray your mats, carpets and seats to neutralise unpleasant smells. We would always recommend a thorough clean with Interior Shampoo to remove the source of any odours, but if that is not possible Odour Eliminator is a great temporary solution.

It is especially useful for persistent smells such as smoke, pets or spilt food and drink.

Keep a bottle in the glove box and reach for when required.

My little one threw up his ice cream, after I made him finish it, as he said he had had enough after a couple of spoons. Boy did I regret that after hearing the joyous sound of up chuck behind you.

Anyway, a friend in the car trade recommended it, and it does work. My bottle is in the boot, along with a collection of plastic bags, kitchen roll, and baby wipes !!!

I’m just over 5’10 with a 32” leg, and on a medium. YT industries UK on Facebook has loads about sizing, all of which is subjective, but you could ask on it to see if anyone is local to you, so you could have a sit on either, or both, they do seem to be quite a helpful bunch

She’ll love it !! Little TG 2 has one, and picked up riding it no problem, little TG 1 has progressed from his, and just got to grips with his 3 speed 20in belter. They make great bikes, and just like Islabikes and Frog, keep there value well, so overall cost is no more really than cheaper versions.

Try http://www.kingdombike.com and Chris will be able to do something to suit you. Their Vendetta Boost is a spin off from what I asked them to do for me.

Slice them quite thin, put them in a bowl with salt, pepper, olive oil and lemon juice. Then cook pasta, drain pasta, and add together in the pasta pan, leave lid on for about 1 minute, then serve, with extra black pepper if you want. 😀

Yes it’s the hilly Isle of Man , most local rides start with a 3/400m climb. I’ve got sparrow thin legs, and figured a better diet might help get a bit more muscle on, in addition to slogging up the hills.
