Not a smuggler but similar in principle, I had a Banshee Phantom and decided to change it for an Evil The Following. The Following is probably a technically better bike in every measurable way, but when it came time to change again, I thought long and hard about getting another Banshee, I’ve never been faster or had more fun on a bike than I did on that Phantom!

Ended up getting a 5010 to try something completely different… after so long on 29ers, the ease of moving the bike around and changing direction is noticeable, and a whole heap of fun. Definitely not as quick on it as I was on the Banshee though if that’s your thing.

Had mine for a couple of months (bought from Germany). Grip and braking seem excellent, rolling resistance acceptable on the front, felt like peddling through treacle on the back! Changed the rear to the new cross king in 2.3, great combination IMHO. Previous tyre combo was DHR2 rear, HR2 front, DHR2 definitely rolls quicker on the rear than new MK, and that was 3C version! Cross King faster but not as tenacious. Mountain King on front seems easily as grippy as HR2, but more predictable for breakaway.

    As ever, YMMV.

Yep, loads of options, just google “chainring spacers” and fill your boots.

I’ve done exactly this to set my x fusion trace to 130mm travel. Bought a 10mm Fox spacer from mojo and installed on the spring side of the travel adjust spacer, it just sits over the rod, held in place with grease essentially by has nowhere to go once the fork is reassembled.

    Hope that helps.

That looks great! Love the graffiti shot, compliments the graphics on the frame…

Jamo Concert 8’s here. Long since out of production but can’t find any compelling reason to part with them.

To all asking if your cane creek shocks should be wheezing and squelching, no, no they should not. Mine was doing this, sent it for a service, internals basically replaced for new version and all is good again. It seems the earlier versions were/are a touch fragile, being polite about it…

They actually end up slightly more expensive with VAT…!

Edit: actually scratch that, bad maths and not looking at retail prices…

Nintendo switch out in a few weeks. Might be an option for less ‘adult’ games?

I’ve been running a Xeccon Zeta 1600r on the lid along with a Gemini Titan on the bars. Gemini is bonkers anyway but the Xeccon is still powerful enough to compliment it very nicely. £150 with the bar remote

How do you find the spread of light with the SixPack JohnClimber?

Not sure if I’ve got a steady enough hand for diy led replacement!

2.8″ plus size jobby. It’s possible that information doesn’t help if you’re wanting to shove a 29″ tyre in there on 35mm rims…!

Got 45mm wtb scrapers in my mk1 at the moment, fits fine with a trailblazer mounted.

Not noticed a recommendation for Mountain Buggy yet, which is surprising being a predominantly off-road forum. We bought the ‘Terrain’ which comes with small and large wheels and a folding system which in my opinion makes it worth the entry price alone.

Got a steel Sherpa which I’m in the process of converting to 27.5+, brilliant 29er… Won’t be ordering a Ti but if money was no object… It looks stunning. Lot of hocus though!

Bit more information to add to this thread, potentially save someone else the trouble of discovery…

2.8″ Nobby Nic on WTB i45 will fit and spin in a Stanton Sherpa but mud or out of true rims are definitely going to cause rub on the stays, not recommended.

Same tyre and rim combination will fit in an X fusion trace and has clearance around the tyre tread but the side walls run very close to the fork bulge; there’s maybe 2mm per side at 15psi, they almost rub at 30psi! Since low pressures are one of the alleged advantages of B+ I’m going to say this is a goer.

Now off to get a Trailblazer for the rear unless the Rocket Ron 2.8″ is in shops yet…

Yodel dropped off a pair of WTB Scraper Rims laced to some own brand hubs today, £160! They even threw a QR in the box for the rear! Sherpa well on the way to its B+ guise now 🙂

Your mate doesn’t want to flog his does he?

From his eulogy and general lyrical waxing of the Shan I would suggest it may have to be dragged from his cold, dead, rigor mortised fingers first…!

No experience on XL but I have a mate with a size L who is about 6′ tall and he reckons it’s perfect running a 50mm stem. Having had a go, and also 6′, I would concur.

You may be able to use an ultra short stem to combat the extra TT/reach length and stand over probably wouldn’t be an issue but it’s worth looking at seat tube length if you’re planning on using a dropper. Anything over 19″ for me and I can’t get a 125mm dropper low enough at full extension!

3 bed detached completely rewired here for £1800. Moving heater and shower work would likely add quite a bit to that so, £3-4k?

Had exactly the same choice and went scirocco myself. Much nicer cabin sold it for me, lovely place to be sat imho. Downside is that high boot lip as it’s easy to catch a pedal on there… Wheels off I can get two bikes in with the back seats flat.

Hibiki is lovely but the tesco one for that price is only 500ml. Nikka whisky from the barrel is superb (also 500ml but in this case that’s just how it comes) and the yamazaki is my personal favourite. Always preferred the 10 yr rather than the 12 yr but it seems to have almost trebled in price over the last few months
