Cube Stereo ? (assuming they still do a 29er)

yeah, done that, specifies only ‘variable intermittent wipers’

yeah, the idea is that you put the stalk in the intermittent position and if you have auto-wipers, that will switch them on. The slider thing then adjusts the sensitivity to water rather then intermittent interval.
Mine just do the normal intermittent thing.

johnnyboy – I did ask Ford and they confirmed that it was built WITHOUT the auto wipers.
I asked about what the sensor was for in that case, they said they probably just put the wrong windscreen in in the factory !
    Somehow, I don’t really believe them …..

Thanks Speshpaul, the intermittent speed wheel actually controls the sensitivity of the auto-sense wipers, if you have them, rather than the intermittent interval if you dont

    TheWrongTrousers

    Nope, doesn’t have them either
Nor the auto-dipping rear view mirror thing neither

    Ok, here goes…..
So, I recently bought a Mondeo estate, 62 reg.
Dealer I bought it from (non-Ford) said it has rain sensitive wipers, which was an assumption on his part because it has the rain sensor on the inside of the windscreen, up behind the rear view mirror.
However, it seems that it doesn’t have these rain-sensitive wipers after all (don’t care really, just curious), only the variable speed intermittent wipers.
    So, my question is ……
What the hell is the sensor on the windscreen for then ? eh ? eh ?

Just out of interest, how did he get the trainee driver job in the first place ?

There’s a truckers caff on the A4 between LHR and Slough, along the Colnbrook Bypass, just after it goes over the M25, close to a ‘Gentleman’s Club’. I would imagine they do a great greasy fry-up, there’s always loads of ‘Executive’ car drivers there in the morning.

At primary school I got told ‘not to be so stupid’ after writing an essay about volcanoes in Iceland. Of course there aren’t volcanoes in Iceland, it’s cold and made of ice. D’uh !
The same teacher laughed when I described how some natives or other used to light fires inside logs in order to start the process of turning them into canoes. Which really irritated me as it had been on Blue Peter only the week before, so it must be true.
    Grrrrrr

God, that’s sad and so unfair.
    Always enjoyed Jenn’s articles.
I’m about to become the father of a little girl, if she turns out anything like Jenn then I’ll be a happy man.
    Good luck Jenn, ciao

Try blue instant gasket (Hylomar ?) instead of grease.
It sets slightly, more than grease at least, allowing less movement I guess.
I’ve had some success with that a few times in the past

Liking the idea of the SR-71, and I work at Heathrow so there’s a couple of runways ‘just over there’. Might be a bit of an asre getting in the car park though ……

Rickmeister has it, it was a typo. It’s actually done 93,000 and not the 9,300 claimed in the ad.
    Oh well …..

Thanks very much Iain65, very interesting, I’m surprised that there are that many opportunities locally as it’s always seemed pretty flat around there to me.
If it’s ok, yes please send me some GPX’s and I’ll take a look. My email should be in my profile.
And I’ll keep yours and give you a shout when and if the move happens. It would be good to hook up regularly.
    Thanks again, cheers

Apologies for the slight thread hijack, but I like Stratford so much I’m thinking of re-locating there permanently.

Interested in the MTB options around there and was interested to see iain65’s reply above so this is directed at him really …..

I know there are a fair few places a reasonable drive away, like FoD, the Malverns, Cannock but what’s the off-roading like in the immediate area ??

    Any info gratefully received !
    Many thanks, cheers

I used to get loads of them, never one at time but 4 or 5 really evil buggers all at the same time.
Then I read somewhere about a chemical used in toothpaste causing mouth ulcers called Sodium Laurel Sulphate (‘scuse the spelling).
    It’s a foaming agent apparently.
The only toothpaste I can find that doesn’t contain this is Sensodyne Gentle Whitening, so I swapped over to that and now get far fewer ulcers than before and never as bad when I do get them.
I’d give that a try if I were you.

On the basis that my lovely lady is very interested in this kind of thing, plus the fact that she is also very interested in the sexy sexy thing, I find myself also very interested in soft furnishings. That way I get to enjoy her ‘soft furnishings’ in an enthusiastic and quite regular manner.
I find that interest in one by me results in increased interest in the other by her, What’s not to like ?!?

Can’t remember the make of the device, but I put it back on as it was set up when it was new. I didn’t tighten the roller myself it was that way when it was new. Anyhow, have loosened the nut a little and now it rotates, although it does by hand at least, not sure whether the friction of the chain is enough to turn it or not.
    Cheers

Sumatriptan does it for me. The first sign for me is distorted vision, kinda like the sensation you get when you look at a bright light and then look away and you can still see the light. Then I get the numbness; fingers, lips, tongue. Then comes the headache, and that’s a bitch of a headache.
As soon as I have the first hint, i.e. the dodgy vision, I whack it with the Sumatriptan and 9/10 times it doesn’t develop further. Gotta be quick though, don’t delay. If it gets to the headache stage then it’s too late.
Even then I feel pretty rubbish for a couple of hours but recover after that and I don’t get to the headache stage.
The only thing I’ve ever identified as a cause is bright lights. Especially if I’m in a dark place, like a restaurant, and look outside to where it’s really bright and sunny. Or working in a darkened office but with the computer monitors all on bright settings.
And maybe dehydration, I have a suspicion that that is a cause too. So chuck down a couple of pints of water with the Sumatriptan.
