That stupid Tesco Pay+ app that, at the merest hint of being anywhere near a checkout, immediately logs you out requiring you to log back in again whilst standing at the head of a queue of six people and having to remember, and get wrong at least three times, that stupid password that you set three years ago and now have absolutely zero chance of remembering.
    And breathe…..

It’s cos it’s considered a ‘French sport’ therefore everything’s in ‘foreign’
A few other French terms, like ‘bidon’ for example.

Maybe worth some skills training ? The best money I ever spent on my bike.
Not local to you, but UK Bike Skills (Tony Doyle/Jedi) in Hertfordshire is just brilliant.

Saw From The Jam supported by The Selecter back end of last year, both were brilliant.
And Jools Holland is doing the rounds at the moment, if it’s audience involvement and party atmos you’re after

    Well done !
I’m missing my commute whilst I’m still WFHing. Looking forward to going back to the office for that reason.
    Here’s a couple of thoughts ….
Do you have to leave your bike outside at work unattended ? This may affect your choice of attaching more things to your bike, the more you attach the more you have to remove once at work. Maybe easier to keep with the minimum panniers, or a backpack like I got to using.
I had lights, saddlebag, Garmin, pump etc etc attached, all of which I had to remove once I got to work which became a PITA. Luckily I wangled being able to take my bike into the building so it was no longer a problem.
I have a few of these in various sizes for keeping the smaller stuff in :

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/233530632578?_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item365f82a982:g:hEcAAOSwnu1ecQoj&amdata=enc%3AAQAGAAAA4HECeZyXntT4HvyL2pyiKEgtaU18aBY2MWYjpMIwXk1UqkQ4fyiOEt3%2FLYQ0NcnQlahIF1sdPtsUaZiBlg05j0VKU5BmnwKCHNzpvfYqH3IliI8JRo0QBFoATLj1dr9TSKmE2IJWUMQ2fTEqspYIRLI%2B8sXVATwRqZ5ypwBg%2FkBl5ybXw081sikfN5leEeezg1%2FpMaPanWUOSkiNIH2J9bFoHMxE6GIE0IbkFc%2B65H%2F4rY%2BjA7b4IAoxBlgXvo9wapUdabElNVxYbTVBtpBBGDYI7EL3WI38gjmaZi8N%2Bgkd%7Ctkp%3ABFBM6ILP9PZf

If you also ride outside of the commute, then have second toolkit etc so that you don’t have keep transferring it between bikes / bags, sooner or later you’ll forget something.

Leave as much stuff as you can at work, shoes, clothes, glasses, laptop, washkit etc etc. Replenish on those days where you have to drive in or make a special trip once a week.

Add some small (e.g. Leatherman) pliers to your kit perhaps to deal with those pesky nuts on tubless valves which get stupidly tight. Also some zipties, a small roll of tape (or a length of tape wrapped round your pump (or Co2 cart) and a spare battery for your lights/cadence thing if you use them.
Perhaps a knife for chopping off the end of those tubeless repair worm things.
I always use a CO2 inflator, but usually carry a pump too, just in case, somewhere in the bag.
Go tubeless if you can, far fewer punctures in my experience, irrespective of bike/wheel/tyre choice.
    Mudguards, definately for the winter.

Castletown is nice, fairly central to most of the places you might want to see. Also close to the airport, and to Douglas for the ferry. There’s also a station on the old narrowguage steam railway that will take you to Douglas from where you can take the electric railway/trams up towards the north of the island to Laxey and to the top of Snae Fell.
Love the Isle of Man. Take your bike if you can. Drive round the TT course and it will be a great ‘overview’ of the whole island.
Go to Port Erin or Niarbyl and you might see a basking shark. Calf Sound at the southern tip for some great views and a nice cafe. Go up to the north end, Point of Ayre, for similar but without the cafe.
Avoid late May / early June as that’s when the TT is on. You won’t find a ferry crossing or accomodation then unless you’ve booked a year in advance. The TT is utterly amazing however ….

wowsers. just looked at one of their 5 bed cabins. £6500 a week in high season!! £4500 for feb half term.

‘Kinnel, nothing like that expensive when I’ve stayed there. Cheaper in the winter. We wouldn’t have had one that large, to be fair

    Forest Holidays cabins perhaps ?

Stayed here a few times, nicely appointed self-catering cabins. Not far from Cannop or from the river at Symonds Yat.

Was in bed asleep the other night with my lovely new partner of a couple of months. I’m pretty sure I let rip and woke myself up in the process. I’m too embarrassed to ask if that actually happened or if I imagined it, and more worryingly, if I woke her up too !

    How small?

Fit is everything when you’re of the petite/stumpy build.

She’s about 5’7, so not particularly petite or stumpy

Last weekend I paddleboarded from Lydney down to Monmouth, including the mighty Symonds Yat.

I don’t think you mean Lydney, do you ? Lydney’s on the Severn, not the Wye. Lydford ??
Looks like a fun trip though

Half a kilo down for me, that’ll do, it’s a start.
Lost 17 kilos on the last one, so just another half stone to go to my target of 11 stone.

    Thanks for the motivation everyone

I have a Camper King converted T5.1 and I’m really happy with it.
The insulation seems fine, it’s always toasty warm but then I do have an Eberspacher night heater which is great too.
Camper King warranty their conversion so long as you do their ‘habitation check’. I didn’t buy it from them but they’ve done various bits of work under that warranty and I’m really pleased with.
I’m not overly familiar with the different specs, but air conditioning was a must for me. I had cruise control retro-fitted. I also had Camper Kings off-grid kit fitted which consists of a second leisure battery and a solar panel charging system, as well as the Eberspacher.
What engine did the donor vehicle have ? If it’s the 180ps Bi-Turbo CFCA engine, start running, and don’t stop.
I’ve had it four years I think, and I’m pretty confident I would get back what I paid and spent on it if I sold it. It’s definately a seller’s market out there at the moment.
    Hope that’s helpful.

V loud and low flying last night near Stroud, nothing on flight radar playback, usually flight path to Brize Norton or Fairford?

The U2s at Fairford are in and out quite regularly. They’re noisy buggers and rarely show on any of the flight tracking apps.

Even though we are several miles away, not even line of sight, the dogs and I heard what I initially thought was a distant Chinook earlier this evening; thought it sounded different so pulled my phone out – turned out to be an Osprey landing at Leuchars. First time I’ve been aware of one visiting, not that I’ve been keeping my eye on what’s about.

There has been an American carrier around the coast, US Marines Ospreys and Sea Stallions have visited various bases around the UK including Leuchars.

Have you realised that your not that far from Aston Hills? That has more technical stuff. Just gets muddy in the winter

Aston Hill is actually closed for the forseeable due to ‘dangerous’ trees. I hope I’m wrong but I would be slightly surprised if it ever opens again, sadly.

    Hmmm
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Duncan_(D37)

The current HMS Duncan is the seventh ship to carry the name. The first was named after Admiral Duncan in 1804.

You make an interesting point though, the tradition is for the Navy to re-use ships names nowadays and in some cases the first was named after someone. Much like HMS Queen Elizabeth, originally named after Elizabeth the 1st.

There was an HMS Duke of Edinburgh, maybe that’s what we’ll end up with ….

    HMS Hood disproves your point.

Ok then, prefix my post with “In modern times”

    TheWrongTrousers

This story is such a load of poop, the Navy don’t name their ships after people, they name them after previous ships. HMS Prince of Wales is named after the last HMS Prince of Wales, nothing at all do with Prince Charles, for example.

I would say that if your compressor doesn’t work then an Airshot will have no chance.
Have you considered using those CushCore things ? one of those might hold the bead of the tyre closer to the rim while you try to inflate.
And yes, I’ve had an Airshot fail many times particularly in the circumstances you mention.
    Definately soapy water too.
