    It works on my mobile too, but there is an app available called Puffin Browser which will allow you to view a site that uses Flash which usually doesnt work on mobile devices. I guess STW doesnt use Flash though which is why it works ok

    The Chilterns are great. Lots of short, sharp climbs, pretty beech woodlands, miles of singletrack, lovely country pubs. Aston Hill is fun. Can ride for miles, unhindered, never too far from civilisation. I really like the Wendover/Tring area. Both have mainline railway stations that would easily and quickly get within 30 miles of Twickenham.

    British Gas.
    Apalling shower of sh!te, gave them two attempts at providing me with a service and both times they failed to turn up for their morning/afternoon appointments in the correct half of the day. Then when I phoned up to complain they asked if there was anything else the could ‘help’ me with. Yes, you can **** off and die you useless, pointless aholes.

    Got told by my local STD clinic that I had been tested positive for Hermes.

    I replied, dont you mean Herpes and they said, no, your the carrier….

    Sounds like a load of old Bulwarks to me

    Isn’t Ocean an assault ship rather than an aircraft carrier?

    No, Bulwark and Albion are the Assault Ships, aka LPDs (Landing Platform Dock)

    TheWrongTrousers

    Not quite correct. The UK’s two ‘carriers’ shown are Illustrious and Ocean. Both are active but neither are ‘proper’ aircraft carriers in that sense, both operate in the landing Platform Helicopter (LPH) role. Even if we did have true aircraft carrier(s) we don’t have any fixed-wing aircraft capable of operating from them anyway.

    Neither of ’em, they both had far too much class for that dire drivel

    No, they really are that dull. What’s the attraction in football ? I just don’t get it, I’d rather watch ANY other sport.

    You’ll probably find that their conditions of carriage for bikes are much the same as for ‘self-loading cargo’, i.e. you have a contract with them to carry you to Geneva, the ‘when’ (the date, time and flight number) don’t form part of the contract. There will be a standard level of compensation to be paid for delays unless they can prove that it was the fault of someone else.

    Nah, I’ve got something far more important/interesting to do, like digging the black crud out of the corners of my big toenails.

    The problem with the 500 is that it looks gash and looks pretty small.

    You didn’t mention looks in your criteria, each to their own. Have a go in one you might be suprised.
    It’s not massive but I bet that 90% of the time you’ll be in there by yourself

    How about about the Fiat 500 1,3 diesel ?
    I get 60-65 ish if driven carefully, 55 the rest of the time.
    £20 p.a. VED.
    Quite fun, nippy, feels spacious due to the large windows, glass roof. Normal tyres.

    In ’92 I just bought my first mountain bike, another Marin Eldridge Grade. Great bike, lasted for years and never broke. I never replaced the chainset either and it didn’t seem to matter at all.

    One positive to come from your tale, makes me appreciate my pooch all the more. Will go home after work and give him a big hug and let him get up on the sofa, just cos he won’t around for ever and I miss him already.

    Love the igloo idea. You could just then tape the door shut and Fedex the whole thing to someone you don’t like very much.

    Yes, the bearing will move in it’s hole, if you push your finger against it and turn your finger, the bearing will turn with it. The whole thing turns, not just the inner metal collar, if that’s what you mean.
    I’m not explaining this very well am I ?

    What are tubs ? can someone enlighten me ?
    Is that what Boardman was on about in the commentary, i.e. tublar tyres, glued on to the rim ?
    Never come across those on a mountain bike before (where have I been hiding ?)

    @mikewsmith
    Yeah, I agree, I’ll just turn the music up a bit ! Although I’m asking out of curiosity more than anything.

    @unklehomered
    Ah I see. So it’s not uncommomn to have a bearing which turns in the frame with the bolt removed ? Assume the bolt/nut clamp it in place when tight and stop it moving.
    On each of my suspension pivot points there is bush or bearing-type thing on either side. You know, a rubber donut (or maybe it’s a bearing race) sandwiched between two metal rings.

    Have failed at trying to attach a pic, how do you do that ??

    null

    The creak is there (comes and goes though) when seated and when I stand up, and when I bounce on the bike.

    I’ve changed the seatpost, checked all the spoke tensions, greased and re-fitted the BB, greased the axles, checked the chainring bolts, greased and tightened some of the pivot bolts. Still there, although it is intermittent.

    Thanks for your time peoples.
