My mother in law did it for us.

Our little fella loves toast, bagels, fruit, dry rice krispies as finger food, weetabix, whatever I’m having and porridge.

Also, full-body bibs are the way of the future!

I was too fat for the ones I bought.

First time I’ve ever needed a large, and they’d sold out!

The bits of last week’s lunches that dropped between the keys on your keyboard?

Beforehand I was worried about the impact on ‘fun stuff’

He’s so much fun that now I wish we’d done it earlier.

Garage floor paint. B&Q. £25 for 2.5 litres = 1 coat on a garage floor.

I thought I had the same opportunity but, after painting the floor and buying some stuff to hang my bikes from, the wife says she wants to park the car in there over the winter. 😥

Don’t wade in quoting policies etc – that will simply annoy everyone concerned.

If I were your boss, I’d want to be sure that any key bits of work were done on time and you were seen to be making an effort to meet in the middle and make some of the time up.

Last time I stayed in Epernay and did a couple of tours of Champagne houses. Mmmm.

Nice camping by the river too.

Are you also the sort of person who complains about the poor state of public services?

Some of these ‘high’ paying jobs are horrific, and those taking big pay cuts to do public sector jobs for ‘philanthropic’ reasons simply can’t win.

You could get Richard Branson to Liverpool City Council and still it wouldn’t improve much!

I would have to take a pretty sizeable pay cut to do the same job with a lot more stress in the Public Sector. No thanks.

    39% here.

We have an ace house and can afford for the wife to be a full-time mum but I don’t get to buy many shiny bits for my bike.

    Priorities, innit?

I heard this on the train recently:

    "Me gear were bare dollar"

As far as I could work out, his cocaine was very expensive.

    I was knocked off recently.

Driver couldn't have been nicer about it, gave me his number, told me to get a quote for the damage. I called his number to check it was real, then limped home.

LBS quoted £120 for the repairs, so I called him and let him know.

He then stopped answering my calls, changed his mobile number and **** off.

    Get numberplate/ ID if possible!

    Second the MTFU.

If it's a decent-sized field you should be able to tag onto some groups which will make it feel a lot easier.

I find that I keep warmer on the road bike as it's a consistent effort, not stop-start, wait for a mate mtb!

New Forest should be pretty flat too.

    Enjoy!

Surf Mat – yeah but my Allez restricts me to a road commute and I'd prefer the riverside/ moorland options. 😉

I have an Allez with crud race guards for commuting and the odd long day out. I love it.

A friend has the Secteur. It's more of a tourer and not so quick but is amazingly comfortable.

If I had the choice again, I'd go for a Tricross.

I was there last week too.

Peak Hill and the headwind for the last 20 miles meant that i was suffering. I hadn't ridden in groups before – was great fun.

    Irvine Welsh's Filth.

I also didn't see why people raved about Ayn Rand's 'Atlas Shrugged' – and I followed it up with 'The Fountainhead'

Also hated Alan Davis's autobigraphy and now can't watch QI any more as I think he's a tit 😥

I did a ride on Exmoor last week and, walking on part of the route the day after, noticed that someone had chucked an inner tube into the hedge.

    Just brainless!

I recognise that this might be a controversial view on here 😉 but I can't argue against anything that I don't know about.

    I'll be reading it.

Greenfield/ Chew Valley/ Holme Moss/ Crowden/ Glossop loop is great.

Also have a look at the routes of the Tour of the Pennines sportives and the Brian Robinson Challenge.

I used to be a T&T regular but haven't been in a few years.

Also went to a ropey cypriot fella in Broomhill who only knew one style – a big swept-across side parting. I felt like Alan Partridge.

When I'm doing long stuff I know I'll have bad patches. If I hadn't trained hard, I'd assume my body was shutting down and give up, rather than having the mental strength to deal with it.

    Both!

Same with Bob Graham round in fell running – nobody trains anything like the distance/ascent or time needed, but relies on the mental strength to get round. Granted, they're all crackers and bloody fit though.

I'm looking for a cheapish hardtail at the moment and I'm surprised at some of the prices suggested.

We're talking 4 year-old+ bikes at 40% of their original retail price. Sure, some bits will have been replaced/ upgraded, but bikes can take a lot of abuse in 4 years!

mtb rossi – then you are a dick – this is not a murder case ffs!

Nah – it's ok. If they type your date of birth wrong on the piece of paper, 60+ in a 30 zone is fine, innit.

Yet another example of people trying to make someone else take the blame for their own idiocy.

I was knocked off my bike by someone who worked in Homebase kitchens.

    They're all evil.
