Not the place you might expect to find it, but this is a good step-by-step guide.

    I can’t stand steel frames

    Pah…. I bet you don’t even have a beard 😉

    Why steel?

Because an independent frame builder can build a bike to suit your ‘larger than average’ proportions 🙂

I like “do it all” bikes, but I’d still want several of them 😀

Ogres are awesome! I liked mine so much that I got a spare 🙂

    It’s a Carry Freedom Y- Frame Trailer[/url]

    The 20″ wheeled version.

It’s very handy and takes up very little room in the shed, due to the quick release wheels.

Thanks, CFH. That ^^^ made for a hypnotic start to my Sunday morning 🙂

Ton, it’s hard to go wrong with an Ogre. I’ve used mine for longs rides, messing about on trails and even doing the shopping with a trailer.

I’m a big fan of fast engaging rear hubs

Time to try some fixed-gear off road then 😉

If the seatpost already seems like a “snug” fit, then by all means try some carbon paste. I tried the Tacx stuff and it’s cured the slipping issues I had ( alu post – steel frame )

Maxxis Ardents work well for me and are very close to being an actual 2.4″

The casing on mine is a hair over 59mm, on a Flox EX rim.

I’ve often found this site useful for working out what gear ratios will fit a particular length chainstay.

I’d second third Kapz. Used them a couple of times now and been happy with them.

    I’m guessing you’re of above-average height…

Yeah, 6’7″ with a long torso. Been riding a 24″ Surly Ogre for a couple of years and using that to fine-tune my riding position. Then took the contact point placement and carried it across to something that would handle a little differently, with short stem/wide bar and a ( comparatively ) decent amount of standover clearance.

    Ogre:

    Talbot:

Left about 15mm’s worth of spacers to play with, as it’s a bit nerve-wracking, cutting down a custom fork 😯

Fixed a couple of screw in hooks into the wall, then rested a 2″ diameter steel aerial mast in the hooks and attached the bike hooks onto stainless steel rings. This allows me to slide bikes out of the way of each other.

I’m guessing by your user name that you found a new biscuity love in your life 😀

Rubbish with tea, but lovely with coffee.

Wafts an air biscuit in the tallman’s direction

    Maybe it’s time for a diet 😯

    I never met a biscuit I didn’t like 🙂
