I wouldn’t bother asking them about Foffa though…

At 42 are you too old to realistically think about going racing?

Hope not. I’m 42 and have just entered the 6hr solo at Torq in your sleep as my first ‘race’.

My shed – Probably my favourite place to waste a few hours.

Preparing to build a new pair of wheels the other week.

lardy middle aged blokes in enduro PJ’s who are terribly PC

Minus the PJs, that’s me, yet all three ( mtb, road and town ) of my bikes are singlespeeds 😀

*I think refusing to use gears has become my own little mid-life crisis.

Aesthetic considerations aside, I’d really like to try out this ‘Dirty Sixer’ 36″ wheel bike.

I was lucky enough to have had my Talbot built last year. Just love this thing.

Fancied a longer grip than the usual Odi Ruffian or Yeti that have become my default choice, so have ordered some 143mm ( Odi made ) Sensus grips to try out.

Just what I wanted to hear, thanks!

I used that Tesa 4289 tape on my other wheels and it’s good stuff.

Had a couple of the older style Topeak gauges for about ten years now ( one in bag, one in toolbox ) and they’ve both been very reliable.

surly ogre 24” fitted with slicks.

    Works for me.

Can’t help you with “doesn’t look like a gate” though 😉

Carbon paste here too. Nice not having to do the seatclamp up stupidly tight.

A new clamp is worth a try too, as the regular Surly ones have never worked very well for me.

Definitely something custom, for that amount of cash.

Fixed a couple of screw in hooks into the wall, then rested a 2″ diameter steel aerial mast in the hooks and attached the bike hooks onto stainless steel rings. This allows me to slide bikes out of the way of each other.

Only two small holes needed in the wall, as the rear wheels rest on the ground, which puts very little weight on the pole.

About 10 years ago, a bunch of school kids yelled “come on, Lance!” at me.

I’d like to imagine it was due to my metronomic-like cadence, rather than him being possibly the only pro-cyclist that the general public had heard of at that time.

Does anyone know if they are available in the UK as the frame only option

I contacted Kona about with that very same question and their answer was “no”. 😥

I’ve got out of bed at 2am, to go and fix some bartape that wasn’t ‘right’ 🙁

Being a perfectionist can be a right pain in the arse. Wouldn’t call it OCD though.

My girlfriend’s 5’4″ and rides an XS Salsa El Mariachi. With a 60mm stem, it seems to fit her really well.

how tall is that tho, did you get planning or just wing it?

It’s a few years ago now, but I think I went by these guidlines at the time.

Outbuildings and garages to be single storey with maximum eaves height of 2.5 metres and maximum overall height of four metres with a dual pitched roof or three metres for any other roof.

Maximum height of 2.5 metres in the case of a building, enclosure or container within two metres of a boundary of the curtilage of the dwelling/house.

Peak of the roof actually worked out at 2.7m. Thankfully, any nearby houses are at least 20m away and set up on higher ground, so I’m effectively hidden out of sight.

For a combination of speed and practicality, it’s worth looking at audax bikes.

They even do crabon ones now.
