Ooh I have some liquid metal which is an epoxy similar to araldite. The stuff can be drilled and tapped once set. You could try filling the hole up and drilling and tapping that out or getting someone with the tools to do it for you.

Take them to your local ( small ) motorbike shop / engineer. Normally only charge a tenner ish for a helicoil insertion.

I know this is guna sound weird but a vibrator can sometimes remove stuck things!!! I’m not talking a rabit but an off centre tool in a dremmel or internal grinder for instance. Get it going an hold the handle to your grip. Sometimes shakes the stuck item out. Wear goggles. Off centre stuff has a habit off flying around abit.

What would they thread into and I dont like the idea of the thread being load bearing on the drop outs. Surly a solid thru axle would be stiffer which is what Im trying to achieve.

Just had a butchers at crc and it looks like £19.99 for the hope kit and £12.99 for a saint 10mm axle. Does that sound about right?
