Made these today after this post inspired me. Remembered having a broken vice kicking about, some solid bar, a pillar drill handle and an old seat post.


Also managed to nicely grind a bit off my knuckle. 😆

That pin stops the washer turning / tensions the spring against the drop out. With out it the spring is not doing its job as the spring has a similar pin which locates in the back of the washer or the spring is loaded by the shaft turning against the pin stopping it turning on the drop out. Oh I know what I mean. Drill a hole in the washer where the pin was and put a small masonry nail in the hole and then trim it down. Hey presto. New pin. In theory. 😉

I was one of those who stood up there freezing for three hours before pottering back down for a cuppa and a trip to Les arcs for some sun. Booooo. Good week though.

You can fit larger baskets on the front of 29ers for bread and groceries than on 26ers.
